Wikipedia calling it an "expressionist film" really hits the nail on the head (or nail through the palm har har). The downright bizarre soundtrack by Peter Gabriel adds to the whole thing.
Funny thing, I've never actually seen this movie, although I used to listen to the soundtrack daily.

"Fuckin' delivering cannolis or somethin'?"
"WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS FUCKING COUNTRY EVERYBODY HATES EVERYBODY!!!"

Goodfellas is number 1 followed closely by Casino IMHO. The modern stuff is great just not as timeless As Casino, Goodfellas, Taxi Driver ectc

Casino is an easily rewatchable movie, even though it is 3 hours long. That movie is an eye candy and has a strong narrative to boot.

Honorable mention for Cape Fear. The scene where Max follows the lawyer by hiding in the bottom of his car is goofy af, but I think it was redeemed by the ending sequence. De Niro also surprisingly had a decent southern accent in that movie.

Both official trailers are out for Scorsese's recent movie Killers of the Flower Moon, releasing on October 20.

Official Trailer 1

Official Trailer 2

I was also watching a video on Scorsese describing his experience with his conversion from lapsed Roman Catholicism back to devout Roman Catholicism, and my dude just spoiled one of the biggest climaxes of Killers of the Flower Moon, so I was kinda bummed about that.
45:23 if you want to bum yourself out

After Hours (1985)

In the past month, I watched a film that the poll is missing, and I think this film is one of Scorsese's most under-appreciated yet one of his best films. Imagine taking a trip to the hellish hipster district of Soho in New York City, and getting trapped there over the night. I think if you like the old grittiness of Scorsese's films, this may be in your corner.

I've also been following works in which Scorsese was an actor besides his anti-BBC role in Taxi Driver (1976).

Akira Kurasawa's Dreams - Crows (1990)

In Kurasawa's third to last film before his passing, Dreams is an anthology film based on dreams that Kurasawa had. In one of his dreams, an admirer of Vincent Van Gogh imagines himself visiting Gogh (played by Scorsese) reminiscing that he will grow older yet always wanting to do more art.

Quiz Show (1994)

In this film directed by famous actor Robert Redford (of which I also enjoyed his directorial debut, Ordinary People (1980)), Scorsese plays an antagonist as the CEO of a pharmaceutical company that was sponsoring a famous yet rigged quiz show in the 1950s.

I don't know why this is so under-appreciated. It's an absolutely surrealistic hellscape movie and it's like he's teaching David Lynch how this kind of shit is done. It's like he's telling Lynch bitch, this is how you do this shit.

Also why the fuck has this not been posted?
I want to chew his fuckin' lips off and grab his head and suck out one of his
Eyes and chew on it and spit it out in his face
And thank you thank you for all of your fuckin' films

Hey, you forgot to include his appearance in Shark Tale. He as a puffer fish changed my life.

But in all seriousness

I still love Quiz Show. It's, truth be told, one of my top favorite movies. It's a damn shame, but also unsurprising that the Oscar and Golden Globes would rather pick Forrest Gump as Best Picture than Quiz Show. I don't care how popular Forrest Gump was, it's overrated as shit, and Quiz Show should've won.

Thoughts on planning to watch Scorsese's latest film coming in October 2023, Killers of the Flower Moon?
Starring Robert De Niro, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Brendan Fraser.
Saw it and it was a really good film.

A bit too long at the start, but still was enjoyable

It was good indeed. Really long (I wish this trend of 3.5+ hour long movies would die in a ditch) to a point the ending leaves a weird taste in your mouth because you'd expect it to keep dragging on. But the message it sends is very clear.
