Marvel Rivals - Superhero slop meets overwatch

It also helps that the nu-MCU is going down the shitter now that they only have glup shittos, but legacy Marvel characters themselves (Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Punisher, etc.) are still pretty iconic to the mainstream audience.

Said legacy characters are all in this game in a relatively non-pozzed way too. No real humiliation rituals I can see tbh, besides coomer troons latching onto the sexy female characters obv.

Hell if anything this is probably not so pozzed as far as latest capeshit media goes.
 
Been playing and enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would. But it makes me realize how much it sucks being a friendless loser because playing with randoms is rough sometimes. It’s crazy how many people don’t understand the synergy between the characters.

I hear that. I enjoy playing, but I really need to find people I can play with regularly. Or at least communicate with me during the game.

A lot of people are surprised Punisher made it in considering he’s a character popular with the heccin Nazi chuds. There is also apparently a lot of discourse about if they should add Red Skull which a lot of leftists freak out about despite him not really being any worse than any other villain (fuck Magneto is basically a Nazi but for mutants), and the fucking LEGO games for children have a playable Red Skull. Personally I’d just want to see what they could do with the characters playset.

The funny thing is that leftists are more likely to hate Magneto now since he's Jewish and the conflict between the X-Men vs the Brotherhood of Mutants is literally supposed to be the parallel between the Haganah (aka liberal zionists) vs Irgun (aka hardline zionists which Magneto is supposed to be an analogy of and Netanyahu's party descended from Irgun) before the Jews' at Marvel made it more like the Civil Rights movement instead since that would sell better.

Also Red Skull is hardly even a Nazi these days. They try to make him where he's apolitical and was only a mercenary working for the Nazis and he'd stab them in the back if it means working for a stronger foe. Any media where Red Skull was an actual true and honest NSDAP probably all ended by the late 90s.
 
The game is fun, feels like what OW used to be before all shields and healing undoing any damage. Third person is actually a good way to play. It could just be no one knowing how to play yet but it feels like you can win without having to go 2-2-2. I was actually worried they would uggo the characters because current year comics look like shit and modern day game studios are full of gays, but the characters look good and attractive like they do in the comics, Black Widow has a blatant Miranda Lawson ass.

The only thing that seems inevitable is Jeff the land shark is going to be milked as hard as the Minions, with the comics doing so much quirky chungus the character becomes unlikable.

that's something blizzard never understood, you don't need to bring down the hammer, the players itself will inevitably figure out a way to deal with most stuff. make some small, sensible changes and see how it develops, plenty of time to do more if needed
fuck if anything it showed they never understood their own game after poorly copying TF2.

as for shitting up the designs, it's all netease. hard to say how much influence disney has, but unless it's mandated by some license agreement they probably don't give a fuck because they know sex sells, especially in SEA (and the rest of the world if you're not a complete retard).
 
I've watched gameplay of it, I don't think it's enjoyable. IMO it just seems like Overwatch but with an established and recognizable IP that the developers don't need to invest into in order to turn it into a household name

That was (one of) the problems with Concord - they wanted us to care about a whole bunch of characters that have literally zero backstory or even a reason to have a backstory. Marvel gets a free shortcut there because these characters have existed for decades in different media and have established canons and stories.

... it's actually kinda genius.

I put about 30 hours into it. It was amusing at first because I hadn't played a hero shooter in ages but pretty soon I started remembering why I stopped playing Overwatch in the first place years ago.

I just love how he goes "well, I clearly can't try my powers with anything but Reed's gun!" and how he's such a good sport about it that instead of instantly juggling all of the police cars he lets the cops take him in even when he knows the trick.
 
I think my biggest complaint is how the healers can spread the love around everywhere instead of being forced to heal one guy at a time. When a Medic has to pick between healing the tank or the dps, that creates an opportunity to do some damage, but in Rivals most of the healers can heal everyone all at once, so it feels like a good healer just carries the team. Against a competent team of healers/tanks, it feels like all the fun of hitting eachother with wet noodles. Most of the ultimates aren't that great either, most of them being some variation of "walk up and instant kill AOE" or Soldier 76's aimbot mode.
