The recent influx of illegal refugees flooding across the border into Quebec is proving to be an immigration wakeup call for Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Trudeau appeared to backtrack Fridayon his passive stance on illegal immigration, cautioning the so-called “asylum-seekers” that they should respect the border between Canada and the U.S.

So many Haitians have crossed illegally in the last month that the city opened the rarely used Olympic Stadium as a “welcome center.”

In January, following President Donald Trump’s first executive order to restrict entry to the U.S. from some Middle East countries, Trudeau tweeted out a message, “to those fleeing persecution, terror & war, Canada will welcome you regardless of your faith.'”

Soon after, a flood of illegal refugees began appearing at remote crossings from Quebec to British Columbia.

Then, in February, Mayor Denis Coderre emphatically declared Montreal a sanctuary city.

Despite Coderre’s enthusiasm, Trudeau appears to have changed his tune.

“We want migration to Canada to be done in an orderly fashion; there’s border checkpoints and border controls that we need to make sure are respected,” the Prime minister said, wearing a “Sinclair” kilt from his mother’s side of the family as he talked to reporters during a photo op at the Glengarry Highland Games in Ontario.

“The people coming now irregularly will still have to go through all the proper processes.”

Trudeau said Canadian Immigration Minister Ahmed Hussen would be checking into the border crossing at Lacolle, Quebec — along the New York border — to see if the immigration authorities needed any more assistance.

“We are ensuring that the capacity to deal with these refugees is in place and our immigration system remains strong and robust.”

Many of the Haitians entering Canada illegally from the U.S. are saying that they fear deportation due now the White House is considering changing the temporary protected refugee status of Haitians who came to America following the 2010 earthquake.

According to a CBC News report, many of these illegals are coming to Canada as a result of a “fake news” story featured on WhatsApp that encouraged all Haitian refugees who feared deportation to come North.

As a french quebecer, there is a rise of angry mob. Trudeau and Coderre might have thought that our long resentment for other religion might be gone, but it got actually worst now. It's so bad, that they want to open '' Radical Prevention Center '' to Quebec because it's must be in our blood to be Right Wing extremist.

(Québec) With the increased visibility of extreme right groups this week in Quebec City, the Director of the Center for the Prevention of Radicalization (CPRMV) now considers it "urgent" to formally establish an office in the capital, 'Thought Mayor Régis Labeaume.

"We have calls coming in." People are asking for support. Certainly in the coming weeks, we will post jobs, "says the organization's general manager, Herman Deparice-Okomba.

The Center opened its doors in Montreal almost two years ago thanks to funding from the City of Montreal and the Department of Public Safety, each of which invested $ 1 million. This spring, Mr. Deparice-Okomba had already expressed his intention to open an antenna in Quebec City, noting in particular the increase in calls following the January bombing at the Great Mosque in Quebec City. But Mayor Régis Labeaume immediately closed the door to this idea, declaring that the city "does not need this".

But Mr Deparice-Okomba replied that he had not received a plea of inadmissibility. In any case, he says, the CPRMV does not need the approval of the municipality. "I have the independent capacity to set up offices where I feel it is necessary. And in the case of Quebec City, it is an emergency, "he repeats.

Already, two employees of the Center work full-time in the capital while several others are commuting between the two cities. "But it costs us dearly to move people and accommodate them," says the CEO. It is necessary to formalize a place, "continues the one who considers also necessary to have staff knowing the environment since the interventions are of psychosocial and training.

Anti-immigration groups

Herman Deparice-Okomba believes that the increased visibility of groups appearing openly in the capital as anti-immigration by placing banners across the city as a large wave of asylum seekers has entered Quebec for two Weeks confirms "we have a problem with the far right".

There is no doubt in his mind that we must intervene. That said, the director of the CPRMV does not want to alert the population. "I do not mean it goes wrong, just that we have needs," he says.

There's protester everywhere. My facebook feeds is filled with this. I saw liberal turning to Conservative or to the Parti Quebecois. I hear people insulting muslim at work, at the bus, sometimes to their face.

http://quebec.huffingtonpost.ca/201...lacharnement-des-conservateurs_n_8147434.html

Warda Naili, a Quebecker who wears the niqab, thinks that the Conservative Party of Canada is "working hard" on a group of women who are already "very marginalized" to make political capital.

"With all the problems we have right now, I think we have more urgent cases than legislating on a group of 200 to 400 women," she says.

The young woman sees no problem in lifting the veil that covers a part of her face to identify with the security guards. But women should be able to keep their niqab while they take their oath of citizenship before other new citizens, in his view.

Warda Naili is a "native of Quebec" who converted to Islam a few years ago. She changed her name and made the choice to veil part of her face in 2011.

Since then, she has made her voice heard in the media and on social networks. She was very active during the debate on the Charter of Quebec values under the Marois government.

Warda Naili is accustomed to being insulted on the street and being told to "return to her country". A man even tried to swing a bottle of beer on his head while she was on an escalator of the Montreal subway.

The debates surrounding the niqab only reinforce prejudices against Muslims, she deplores.

"The people here are" bocked ". They have a hard head. There are people who will misinterpret [the law] and believe that [face uncovered] applies in the street. "

"Not everyone is following the new policies assiduously and they do not understand what that means. Misunderstanding nourishes prejudices. Already that it was not obvious [to wear the niqab], it became much worse. "

Immigration Minister Chris Alexander confirmed on Wednesday that the government would challenge the judgment of the Federal Court of Appeal rendered the day before, which ruled Zunera Ishaq, a Muslim woman who had refused to reveal her face during a ceremony Of citizenship in 2013.

Quebec Lieutenant Denis Lebel subsequently announced in Trois-Rivières that a re-elected Conservative government "will reintroduce and pass the oath of citizenship act in the first 100 days of its legislature."

Justin Trudeau said that Canada must protect the rights of minorities and that the government has preferred to focus on fear and division. Thomas Mulcair had also spoken for the wearing of the niqab during the ceremonies of citizenship.

Ishaq, a Pakistani who moved to Ontario, filed a request for a review of the policy in January 2014. She will be able to vote in elections this fall for the first time thanks to the ruling in her favor.

Quebeckers against the niqab

The leader of the Bloc Québécois, Gilles Duceppe, agrees with Stephen Harper on the wearing of the niqab during the oath of citizenship. He recalled that the vast majority of Quebeckers were against the idea of receiving or offering public services with a covered face.

Catherine Fournier, a Bloc Québécois candidate in Montarville, even spoke of the niqab as a "symbol of woman's submission" and denounced the lack of political courage of the other federal parties.

Warda Naili believes that this position, which resonates with that of the Parti Québécois, is even worse than that of the Conservatives.

"I have no problem identifying myself, but from there to taking it off to receive a service, it becomes discriminatory," she says.

"It gets very humiliating to me. It is a violation of my privacy. "

She deplores that the integral veil represents for some "the image of extremism" Muslim. Same for prayer five times a day and the month of Ramadan fasting.

If she acknowledges that the port of the niqab has isolated her in her own province, Warda Naili argues that she is not alone in her situation. Her circle of friends is made up of Quebeckers who, like her, have chosen to cover their faces.

She is concerned not only about the re-election of the Conservative Party but also about the 2018 elections that could bring Pierre Karl Péladeau's Parti Québécois to power and thus lead to another Charter of values.

Well done Trudeau. When you shit your refugees in one of the most nationnalist province, you should have excepted all of this. And that's why he back tracks. There's a lot of french canadian that will vote blue and I'm not talking about the Quebec's election.
Weaponized Gallicity.

I know the media doesn't talk about it, but when they said kids and woman have been evacuated, there's two kids that have been pepper spray by antifa

"Canada is an opening and welcoming society," he told reporters in Montreal following talks with Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar. "But let me be clear. We are also a country of laws. Entering Canada irregularly is not an advantage. There are rigorous immigration and customs rules that will be followed. Make no mistake."
Lol, he sounds like he's threatening a child with a timeout.

"there will be consequences, young man!!!"

Yet the virtue signaling from Montreal is downright cancerous?

Montreal becomes 'sanctuary city' after unanimous vote

Those tweets to President Trump especially. Good grief.

Not saying you're wrong, just seems like what they're doing in Montreal is every bit as ridiculous as anything going on in Europe at this point.

Montreal is like hipster cuck central, like Portland on the St. Lawrence, an outlier enclave of radical regressive degeneracy. Only a few years ago, this is the place where the proto-antifa youths were violently rioting in the streets because the government was just discussing the possibility of limiting their fully subsidized university education.

Trudeau warns 'no short-cutting' in Canada's asylum process
AFP • 8 hours ago
Montreal (AFP) - Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Wednesday there is no advantage for asylum seekers who evade border checkpoints to cross into the country from the United States.

His comments were aimed at curbing a surge in migrants entering Quebec province on foot from the United States this summer.

"Canada is an open and welcoming society because Canadians have confidence in our immigration system and have confidence that we are a country based on laws," Trudeau told a press conference.

"You will not be at an advantage if you choose to enter Canada irregularly. You must follow the rules and there are many," he said.

After meeting with Quebec officials, Trudeau also announced the creation of a task force to deal with the irregular migration through backwoods and farmers' fields.

He said the recent arrivals are going through a rigorous screening process and that there is no "short-cutting."

Earlier, the opposition Conservatives criticized the government's handling of what it called a migrant "crisis," accusing Trudeau of having encouraged the asylum seekers when he said in a January message: "To all those fleeing persecution, terror and war, Canadians will welcome you."

Conservative MP Michelle Rempel said the Twitter message gave "false hope to people crossing the border" and has created a massive backlog in processing asylum claims.

More than 6,000 people have skirted border checkpoints to enter Canada since the start of July.

Overwhelmed by these numbers, the government has increased patrols along the border and added immigration staff to process claims.

The military, meanwhile, has set up tent cities in Quebec and Ontario to house the asylum seekers, after an Olympic stadium and other facilities in Montreal filled up.

Most of the recent arrivals are Haitians who face expulsion from the United States after President Donald Trump said that he would not extend temporary asylum granted to 60,000 Haitians affected by a devastating 2010 earthquake.

Their special status is due to expire at the end of the year.

The Liberal government is misleading people when it says there's no advantage to crossing illegally into Canada to seek asylum, NDP MP Jenny Kwan says.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made those comments over the weekend as the Liberals have become more assertive in their efforts to tamp down the volume of asylum seekers. Nearly 7,000 have arrived in the last six weeks, mostly via Quebec.

But in a letter to Immigration Minister Ahmed Hussen, Kwan suggests there is in fact an advantage.

If they go the legal way, she says, they'll be turned away, because of the agreement between Canada and the U.S. that precludes people from making asylum claims at official land border crossings.

"Under international law, once they have crossed the border Canada must take them in and process their refugee claims," Kwan said in the letter, sent late Tuesday.

"If the prime minister was serious about reducing unsanctioned border crossings, let alone truly welcoming refugees, he would have already suspended the Safe Third Country Agreement."

The Liberal government has repeatedly insisted there's no reason to suspend the deal, noting that the asylum system in the United States is still functioning and the country remains open to granting people refuge.

In her letter, Kwan points to violent clashes between white nationalists and counter protesters in Virginia earlier this month as a sign of increased insecurity for all minorities.

But more so, she said, the influx of people into Canada makes it clear they no longer feel the U.S. is safe.

The government is ignoring what should be a manageable issue, she said.

"Given the current trend of anti-immigration and anti-refugee rhetoric throughout the developed world, maintaining the highest degree of public confidence in Canada's immigration system should be a top priority for your government to reduce the risk of those views taking hold in Canada," she wrote.

The NDP wants more illegals.

Black Bloc warning urges more violence against Canadian journalistshttp://globalnews.ca/news/3694044/b...s-more-violence-against-canadian-journalists/http://globalnews.ca/news/3694044/b...s-more-violence-against-canadian-journalists/

An anti-fascist group whose members assaulted two Global News journalists at a demonstration in Quebec last weekend defended their actions Thursday and threatened more violence against journalists covering future protests in order to, according to the post, “make demonstrations safer” for the group.

In an anonymous statement posted online titled “No face, no case: in defence of smashing corporate media cameras” the group said it wanted to “offer an explanation” for why a Global News camera was smashed and reporter Mike Armstrong was assaulted and pushed down a staircase.

“Sometimes, it is necessary to go against what the mainstream considers ‘acceptable,’ to break the law in order to do the ethical thing,” the post read. “Those who mask up to fight the racist far-right have decided, at great personal risk, that they will use any means necessary to shut down fascist organizing.”

The group also accused “corporate media” of regularly handing over “their footage to police without even waiting for a court order”

Global News, however, refuted the accusation.

“Global News does not turn over news video to law enforcement unless and until compelled to do so by court order”, said Ron Waksman, Vice-President of Digital and Editorial Standards and Practices for Global News and Corus Radio. “We have lawfully resisted and appealed such orders when they appear too broad or amount to fishing expeditions. Our journalistic ethics demand we protect sources to the best of our ability, so they will trust us and continue to provide information on important matters of public interest.”

Violence broke out during protests in Quebec City on Sunday when counter-protesters arrived to oppose the far-right group La Meute, which planned to protest the government’s handling of asylum seekers.

Members of La Meute waited inside a parking garage behind the National Assembly while a counter-protest organized by members of the anti-fascist movement formed outside.

Police declared the counter-protest illegal after some protesters with the black bloc threw bottles and shot fireworks at officers. The black bloc name is given to protesters within a larger demonstration who conceal their identities with dark clothing and masks – making it harder for police to identify them.

Global News national reporter Mike Armstrong, photojournalist Jean-Vincent Verville, videojournalist Dan Spector were covering the clashes between police and protesters when someone assaulted Armstrong and smashed Verville’s camera.

“We are disgusted and outraged by today’s unprovoked attack on a Global News crew covering demonstrations in Quebec City,” Troy Reeb, Senior Vice President of News, Radio and Station Operations with Corus Entertainment, said in a statement. “While we are relieved that our journalists were not seriously hurt, Canadians should be concerned by this threat against the working of a free press. Our team was there to provide independent coverage and transparency as events unfolded – a goal clearly not shared by the thugs who shielded their identities in the commission of violence.”

Canadian Journalists for Free Expression, an organization which defends Canada’s free press, denounced the violence and said it was “deeply concerned by the alleged assault.”

“Assaults on media workers erode press freedom rights and undermine the critical role journalists play in strengthening democracy,” the organization said in a statement. “During periods of social unrest, journalists play a crucial role as observers and disseminators of up-to-date news on these public interest issues, and thus must be allowed freedom to conduct their work.”

2017 has so far been disasterous for Canada.

I'm not looking forward to the next six years

Next year is the Quebec Election. Then, in 2019, it's the federal election. The way I see it, a lot of people will vote PQ because of the way the gouverment is handled. Yes, this is disasterous but this has been a wake up call to most quebeckers here. After all, once, we made the Liberal a third party.

Update on Quebec's situation:

Radio-Canada learned that the vehicle of President of the Islamic Cultural Center of Quebec, Mohamed Labidi, was set on fire during the night of August 5 to 6, when he was parked close to his residence.

A text by Cathy Senay

The facts occurred a little before 1:30 on Sunday morning. Firefighters took about 30 minutes to extinguish the fire. The police are always looking for one or more suspects. No person related to the event has been arrested until today.

The Islamic Cultural Center of Quebec (CCIQ) affirms that the authorities confirmed the criminal nature of the fire.

"A police investigation is underway and the thesis of the criminal offense is envisaged," says Étienne Doyon, spokesman for the Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ).

The Major Crimes Unit could also determine that it is a hate crime. "When we talk about a hate crime, there must be a criminal offense that falls within the Criminal Code and it must have a hateful connotation to a particular community, a particular race" "Says Mr. Doyon.

If the case has not been revealed before, it is at the request of the family, but also for reasons of strategy of investigation, says Lieutenant Jean-François Vézina, liaison agent for cultural communities at the SPVQ .

"Whether it is specific groups or individuals, you have all the time people you can suspect when this kind of criminal offense is committed," says Mr. Vézina. If several events that target the Muslim community accumulate, there are also more gestures that are denounced, according to him.

We want to deal with these events, to meet with people who have committed these offenses and to put some pressure to stop it. What we want is to stop it.
Lieutenant Jean-François Vézina, Liaison Officer for Cultural Communities at the SPVQ

The act of vandalism took place just over 36 hours after the announcement of the sale of a municipal land valued at $ 270,000 to the Islamic Cultural Center to allow the creation of a Muslim cemetery nearby Belmont Cemetery, in the Sainte-Foy area of Quebec City.

This cemetery has been awaited for years by Muslim citizens of the Quebec City area. Mohamed Labidi participated in this press conference alongside Mayor Régis Labeaume, at the Quebec city hall.

Call for vigilance

This is the first time that such an incident directly targets one of the leaders of the Islamic Cultural Center.

The members of the CCIQ Board of Directors declined any request for interviews, but in a press release they urged the public and elected officials to "pay particular attention to the rise of the extreme right in Quebec City." They are also calling for help to keep up the pressure so that the means are put in place in order to fight against these hateful gestures.

This Muslim community has reason to feel threatened, because these are events that happen repeatedly. It is not an isolated event.
Benjamin Ducol, Researcher at the Center for the Prevention of Radicalization leading to Violence

"I think there has come a time when people in Quebec City have to make it clear that such incidents are not acceptable in a community like ours. And it will come in support of a Muslim community that feels more and more victimized and more and more maybe isolated, "says Benjamin Ducol.

Several hateful events

The Islamic Cultural Center of Quebec added that excrement was left outside the door of the Great Mosque a few days after the president's vehicle was set on fire.

This incident is in addition to several other hateful acts perpetrated against the Muslim community in Quebec City over the past few years.

On July 14, two days before the vote on the Muslim cemetery project in Saint-Apollinaire, a shredded Koran with a knife accompanied by a hateful message had been deposited at the mosque.

On June 19, 2016, a pig head had been left by the small Quebec identity group in front of one of the entrances to this place of worship. It was also Quebec identity who had installed hateful posters on the walls of three mosques in Quebec City in November 2014.

All of these cases have been reported to the Quebec police, but the investigations have not found any suspects at this time.

The Islamic Cultural Center was also the scene of the attack on January 29th. Six men lost their lives in the shooting.

Sounds like someone just wanted to preemptively protect Quebec City from a car of peace

You'll notice most official Canadian government press releases use the term "irregular border crossers" to refer to these people, its quickly becoming the "undocumented immigrants" of Canada and people are getting tired of it real fast. Its funny to point this out to Canadians that i talk to online because even the somewhat right wing one's primary political identity is still "not American" and they can't stand the comparison.

I wonder if in a few years time after most of these people have been allowed to stay and pump out a few kids (the ones this currant batch brought with them are already being enrolled in Canadian schools) if they'll have the ball's to use the term "anchor babies" to refer to them, or if they'll come up with a "not American" term to use.

Its been fascinating watching them just now starting to deal with the same thing we've been dealing with for years, and the left and the right are making all the same mistakes that they did down here.

It's funny as hell. These are nations that historically never had to deal with these issues, yet had no problem lecturing us on how we were being "intolerant" and "mean". Now that they brought these complex issues willingly to their doorsteps, it has been incredibly entertaining watching them realize how impossible it is resolve these issues with pretty words or hollow slogans of tolerance.

The US is one of the most ethnically diverse nations in the world, and while we may not have perfect harmony in regards to racial co-existence, we have come a long way. The average citizen hardly cares about racial differences, and sees those that try to stir that pot as autists. Honestly, all things considered, I think we've done a real good job of integrating diverse groups, especially compared to Canada and Europe.
