Mass shooting in Langley, British Columbia - Yes, Trudeau's gonna use this as an excuse to ban more guns, you can stop talking about it now

Why'd they do it this time?

They do have heavy laws.

The AR-15 Trudeau banned is (or was) the Canada-legal version, which is semi auto (single fire) and only holds 3 rounds. It was considered restricted, only legal reason to have one was for the gun range, similar to other restricted guns like pistols.

To do that, you needed to take a gun course, get a restricted firearm license, get a transport permit to buy and take the gun home, then get another transport permit to take it to and only to the gun range (these permits have the 2 destinations on them), if you stop at McDonalds on the way, that's a gun crime.

Also if your firearm license ever expires, you get charge stacked for unlawful gun possession for every gun registered to you.

Also afaik at no point during all of that are you allowed to defend yourself with those guns.

So yea, it was strict, but Trudeau needed to make the New Zealand shooting about him.
Jesus fucking Christ! I knew about the recent struggle sessions with the Canucks, but this is just horrifying to read.

He really covered a lot of ground.

Dumbest laws ever. From what I hear you can legally get unregistered Chinese Type 81 or Type 97 rifles, or an Israeli Tavor there, but no ARs.

That has to do with how Canada catagorizes restricted and unrestricted guns.

Canada's list of restricted long guns are often based on whether they look tactical or show up in movies, and not on their actual abilities. Think Democrat gun control memes but made into actual law.

So for example, the Barret M82 was prohibited (worse than restricted) by name, but identical competing rifles could be bought as unrestricted (no legal/permit/registration hassle), because they dont have a war reputation.

Are they blurring the gun? Fucking why?
Could be that they're scared of hurting fee-fees, could be that there might be a connection to another party and they don't want to tip someone off. I'm sure they're concerned about copycats given the context of the attacks as it is known now: that he wanted to kill vagrants and homeless people.

He looks like the type to have the attitude and opinion of "let's just round up and kill all the degens," too bad they murked him and we'll never know his true motivation.

Probably because the gun was either illegally smuggled from the US, or stolen from a police officer. Kind of goes against the narrative there.
Nah. It was a pistol and our government has its dick hard about taking our rifles away. Handguns are already almost impossible to get your hands on legally. I've never seen one despite laying eyes on a few illegal longarms (and numerous legal ones) in my life.

That's what goes against the narrative; most gun crime is committed with a handgun but Trudeau wants our hunting rifles.

I live in a very rural place and have seen a few illegal handguns, mostly .44 revolvers, but they're basically just a trophy to show your close buddies since obviously the ammo isn't available
