Matt thinks the world is the same as when he was a teen because, at the very end, he's a boomer at heart. He thinks all problems, social and economic, are solved by "go to work".
This is Ben Shapiro mentality.
Maybe he doesn't necessarily believe it, but he knows that this is a great way to stir up attention online. All the people who understandably want to call out his statement write comments or share it around to mock him, which gives the post more traction. On top of that, all the blokes that do agree with the post are given easy ammunition to dismiss literally ANY criticism with "hah, you're just lazy", which prompts them to "dunk" on people in the comments and like the post, giving it even more traction.
That's the thing with many grifters, their financial lifeline is dependent on being
the heel. It is full embracement of the phrase "any publicity is good publicity". If Matt Walsh tried having an honest, well thought out and good faith discussion with people about political issues, we would absolutely not be talking about him right now, because he'd be drowned out in a sea of other boring political pundits and journalists. And the people that do like Matt unironically adore the fact that he stirs up such a reaction, that he is pissing people off enough for them to create elaborate posts or shitposts, which grants them a platform to troll and bait even further.
Frankly, I'm not sure what solution is there to this, besides people going outside to touch grass instead of reading dumb tweets, because as much as I hate to admit it, shitting on things and arguing with people online about it is fun and addicting and never leaves you bored, creating all this elaborate "lore", unique "characters" and hilarious memes or anecdotes. It may be already too late for most of us that have registered on this darn site to move on and do something else.
