Twitter mobs are insanely easy to whip up even over obvious frauds (Kony is calling) and now that's all you need to get a site taken down from CF - the longer term impacts of this on their business are going to be real corrosive. It isn't like this is going to be a good thing for the troons in the long run either, because the precedent this sets is almost definitely going to get used by other countries (I'm sure they're going to absolutely love the court orders coming out of Russian, Chinese, Turkish and Afghanistani courts regarding LGBTQ advocacy sites).

I suspect it was UK LE that he "reached out" to now we consider it. Given that twatter is full of accounts like CrimeLDN and ScarcityStudios who provide a daily dripfeed of films of broad daylight stabbings and robbings and general brutality and depravity, while our glorious police are busy arresting people for putting the chevron rainbow flag into a rotationally symmetrical arrangement because it "caused anxiety."

The thing is, it feels like something even larger than that to me. It's not just one of the last bastions for free speech and free expression online, but also a last bastion for forum culture online. Almost everything is on discords these days, the closest thing to a forum most places have is a subreddit, which as you might guess is more like an ultra-corrupt BBS network than a forum. And then in places that do have forums, often those forums lie dead and silent, if you write a post there even if it's a lengthy high effort post it could take months or even years before anyone posts a reply to anything in the same thread as you. It's quite depressing too because forum culture is where discussion got done, people would articulate their thoughts far better when the norm is to write plenty as opposed to having to write short tweets. Often forums would be associated with an IRC, that's normal, but IRC and by extension discord servers have never been a competent replacement for foruming. I feel that a large part of the rampant corporatism online and big tech algorithm brainrot owes it's relevancy to the fall of forum culture, which honestly makes foruming feel like a kind of counter-culture, like a way to strike back in some small way against that alternative paradigm.

That's much easier said than done. Vic from the Weeb Wars shit had a clear cut case of defamation after his former colleagues accused him of sexual harassment/assault and he lost his case because he had a shitty lawyer and the judge decided he didn't like him. Unless you can get some Internet freedom group behind you, I don't think it'd be worth the time and risk.

Plus Matthew Prince made the critical mistake of bending a knee to the very people he's supposed to be against. Now every censorship-loving faggot knows they can get him to do what they want and they're already making lists of every 'problematic' site he protects. He played himself and all he has to show for it is a mouthful of stink ditch.

Its pretty amazing. They openly said they wanted Cloudflare gone so KF could be open to DDoS attacks while they're DDoSing the site like 12 yr olds.

If I were Prince, on that alone, I would say to myself "hmmmm maybe I should day nothing and wait this one out"

Anyway, my wife's boyfriends company uses Cloudflare. He's agreed to stop using them for one extra movie night with my wife.
