Ralph is going to plea no contest either way. No matter what happens, Ralph is going to be found guilty. In no way shape or form was Ralph ever going to get any serious jail time over this. I will lay money that the DA and Ralph's attorney were both telling their clients that this was the exact outcome that would happen if they go to trial with it.

The ultimate conclusion either way was going to be Ralph pleading NC, guilty verdict, no jail time. Either offer it to him as a deal before hand, or go to trial and get the exact same result.

Vickers lost either way because the win/loss condition was jail time. No matter how either side spins it, Vickers took the option that was the path of least resistance.
