On the topic of the lawsuit. It reads like the divorcé initially was a bit of a ruse and more Vickers chicanery to avoid bankruptcy. However after several months of being semi-separated Arianna decided life without Matt wasn’t too bad.

Her getting a “internship” at the county welfare office was a double edged sword, not only did it show her even more gibs she could get as a fat single mom with three minor kids but it was probably her first exposure to life off the couch and outside the Vickers bubble. Her weight and “chronic illness” sounded exactly like a depressed woman, an internship getting her out of the house, around new people and most importantly on a schedule, might have cured her.

But the idea of Matt trying to get a job in the same building was probably intolerable to her. This was her welfare job domain! He was sort of implying Arianna ruined his chances of getting to be a welfare worker.

She might even have a non-hoarded Section 8 dwelling now.

Actually living apart from Vickers and being around a bunch of social workers made Arianna open her eyes and see Matt was POS. Sounds like she shared these revelations with their keeds when she decided to break it off for real.
