They can't really entirely put him in complete isolation and refuse to allow him to write or receive letters in jail (unless he is in some kind of disciplinary segregation and it is a punishment for penological purposes). They probably could do exactly that in the hospital.
Does it have to be a Psychological thing though? This would be the State vs Chris, right? That means that any more public correspondence can and would be used against him in court, and Chris is not known to shut up.

How many of them are between mother and son though?? Cousin marriage in less developed countries is far more common than people think I know, but even the places with the lowest life expectancy and values have a limit.
I'm not sure that ever happens, if for no other reason than under Sharia Law a woman is property of her husband if she's married, otherwise she's property of her father. IIRC she goes back to being property of her parental family if her husband dies and her husband's brother(s, if he has any) do not want her as a wife. I doubt this arrangement would be a possibility given how extra-ordinary the circumstances would have to be to have a mother-son marriage.
