McDonalds - I'm Lovin' It

I feel like the novelty already wore off after shortages both in the UK and USA had grocery stores emptied but no one touched the frankenmeat.
I'm legit starting to wonder if there's some ideology at play among decision-makers or financial kickbacks for subscribing to said ideology involved.
IIRC, beyond meat has some politically motivated investors and they are in financial trouble. Their operation was described as being run like a tech startup rather than a food manufacturer.

Imagine this but the cheese patty has the panko crumbs like the hash brown.

Friend went and got a McRib the other day (and a McChicken for me). They fucked the order up as per usual (dude, you GOTTA check the bag - it's really your fault at this point). And they put fucking ONIONS on my McChicken! As well as being mashed into something resembling what a sandwich would look like after Hydraulic Press Guy got a hold of it.

The only time I get McDonald's now is on my weekday off (today!) - I order a breakfast for myself as a treat. Protip: customize your order when you do a delivery (put extra bacon on that bitch!), that way it's fresher and made with a lil more care. Have yet to be disappointed. (Also most people know this, but just in case: if you don't mind waiting at the drive thru you can get the freshest fries by asking for no salt on them.)

If you ask them if you can have your fries, "cooked to order," and you say please, they'll press the cook to order button and you'll get fresh fries with salt.

Same for all their other items too.

So I stopped in at a McD's for the first time in at least twelve years. Can put a hard number on that date because of a family event we had there.

Ronald McDonald and the crew are nowhere to be seen. The menu prices are nowhere NEAR fast food, and more akin to 3-star burger joints like 5 Guys and Smashburger. Why the absolute fuck is anyone even still patronizing this place instead of getting a real burger or even a real sandwich for LESS MONEY???

Even sadder is that the whole place is now decorated in "boring square deco"...yeah the original scheme was kind of like a giant PlaySkool set but at least the interior looked bright and alive.

I can just imagine a sad Ronald looking at a modern McD's from the street outside and asking tearfully "...what have they done to it?"

There's a McDonald's not far from me with the modern design that actually has a playplace. There's a metaphor in there somewhere

The stuff looks so utterly repulsive I wondered why anyone would agree to use this crap in their restaurant. I guess it's yet another woke world thing. Even pure soy like they've made for "ground beef" substitute for literally decades is better than that shit.

They we're doing a chicken combo box but it was only for delivery and the world cup, I was hoping they would add it to menu but they didn't.

Vegans and vegetarians are obsessed with meat replacements so they will take what they can get. This doesn't contain soy or nuts so this is a big deal to them. A lot of vegans and vegetarians consume a ton of processed food. Remember, coke and potato chips are vegan.

To quote Wikipedia:
In November 2020, Beyond Meat announced sales had only grown by 2% year-on-year compared to an expected increase of 40% due to the impact of COVID-19 on foodservice sales. Beyond Meat shifted its focus to grocery, convenience stores, and other forms of distribution during the COVID-19 pandemic. By September 2022, the stock price had fallen to an all-time low, that was 93 % lower than the all-time high set in July 2019 and 74 % lower than at the start of 2022. In October 2022, the company announced a 19 % workforce reduction, or approximately 200 employees, due to revenue declines.
In 2019 they went public, and before that they constantly raised venture capital. Going public is often a sign that you can't scam investors anymore so you do an IPO to dump stock and get another short-term infusion of cash. You see it happen with a lot of tech companies. I think this line might be the most damning:
Tyson Foods purchased a 5% stake in Beyond Meat in October 2016, but sold its 6.5% stake and exited the investment in April 2019, ahead of the company's initial public offering.

Unless they were working on putting their "food" in restaurants before the frozen patties were in stores, I doubt this unless they mean the current push. They had frozen patties in grocery stores for at least two years before I ever saw articles about restaurant releases. FWIW, a friend of mine liked the frozen ones better. The major reason people bought the frozen ones was that they were soy and nut(and "mycoprotein") free since they were just spun canola and pea powder.

McDonald's in my city is subpar at best yet expensive for most of their foods. Not worth my money, but at least it doesn't pretends to do "healthy" shit like Burger King did with its estrogen injected burger.

Yet.

I love McDonald's chicken nuggets. What's in them, I don't know and I don't want to find out.
Maybe I'm old and out of touch, but did they change them around a decade or so? When I was young, I remember McDonald's nuggets having a more crumbly texture more like Wendy's nuggets, but now they're more flaky and I don't like them as much.

Have they ever heard of word of mouth? Because word of mouth is that shit is repulsive, viler than anything it's trying to replace in the market. Here is the plant-based substitute burger: just a fucking portobello mushroom cap with soy sauce and cheese on it. Ta-da. No need for repulsive chemicals that are (as horrible as the word is) literal goyslop.

I had an impossible burger or whatever when they were going around handing out free samples a few years back. At the time it seemed vaguely passable for trash fast food but definitely not something I'd spend money on or would consider as a viable alternative to meat.
