I don't mind Multicam, but absolutely prefer Ranger Green. I kinda wish the US Military would do something like Ranger Green fatigues for troops stationed in the US or at military bases, and camo uniforms for soldiers being deployed to combat zones. But that would be unnecessary spending when having everyone wear Multicam works just fine. Its just the way my gear autism works.

100% agree. I always felt that, at the very least, the support career fields should have the WWII style green fatigues and a set of OCPs for deployments. They're out there busting ass on the flightline, in warehouses, fixing vehicles, etc. and it's wearing heavily on the uniforms meant for deployments. A uniform meant to get dirty and can hold up to the abuse with more convenient pockets would make a lot of those dudes happy. Function over fashion, people work harder when they're comfortable. The Services folks who upkept the gym and on base hotels got to wear a Polo and khakis. I never wanted to do their job, but I was pretty jealous that they were essentially getting to wear civilian clothes to do their job.

as long as you know your sight settings it's not a problem.

Way back when someone made a custom flip-sight for a .458 based on a 45-70 government ladder sight. 2x2 is minute of deer but I suspect that may be a supersonic load.
On the right is a custom built quick-detachable ladder sight (1873 tang sight for a .45-70) that uses the standard front sight. Due to the similar ballistics as the .45-70, this customer can use that sight set at 700 yards to engage his 2'x2' gong at 720 yards.

A break action or falling block .458 with a vernier tang sight and adjustable front sight would be even more accurate.

Marksmen were shooting out to 1,000 yards and farther with these starting in the 1850s. the 17th place longest confirmed kill was with a sharps rifle by US army scout Billy Dixon in 1874 at 1,538 yards.

This is 100% AI generated but I know this place is just Brazilian enough to do that.
Now unless those are the world's cleanest and least fuzzy AI generated images they're real. I can only find one spelling mistake ("Backstrapes") and that could have been a result of Machine translation. These just happen to track with some of the patents that have been taken out and the leaked promotional material? The 6 inside a Hexagon matching almost perfectly? The alternative is that some Brazilian guy decided to AI generate a bunch of fake promotional material that somehow has 0 obvious artifacts, A bunch of really high quality details 99.9 of AI programs can't spit out yet and matches patents and promotional material.

The only problem is that based around the illustration it's unclear how the mag is supposed to feed with the trigger pack in place. Which leads me to a simultaneous alternative theory. It is AI generated, but by a lazy ass Glock marketing department.

Got myself a BCM upper from PA for their black friday sale and it actually came with a bolt carrier group. No charging handle though but I got 3 of those. I officially have an AR that's a step up from PSA quality now, but my old build still works too.

I didn’t see anyone post this yet but PSA is shutting down AAC ammo production and are laying off 80 people. They are claiming it’s due to a lack of powder supply.

Powder supply is an issue for the commercial small arms market due to lack of domestic nitrocellulose production. While they are working on spinning up more capacity building chemical plants are not something you can do overnight. In the meantime the DoD will always get first crack at what supply there is. Primers are less of an issue as the quantities of energetic materials needed are orders of magnitude less than propellants.

That being said the market has been in a slump since 2023. This isn’t the first casualty, AMMO Inc was bought by Winchester last year. Winchester reported a $160 million loss on commercial ammo sales in Q3 compared to 2024. Historically Q3 is the highest quarter due to sales to distributors and retailers in preparation for hunting season.

PSA always had issues. Allegedly they never developed their own in-house tooling, it was just tooling packages sold to them by Hornady. Ammo manufacturing, especially shellcase and bullet production requires some very specialized equipment and very specialized knowledge. It supposedly took Winchester about 5 years to get back to where they were when they moved centerfire and rimfire productions down to MS.

Well that sucks. They had pretty decent prices on bulk .308 ammo and I wanted to get a decent supply of their 150gr Saber Blade ammo since it seemed to be a better self defense/combat round than basic FMJ while being priced similar to ball ammo.

Remember how I mentioned they bought all their tooling packages turn key from Hornady? Yeah that’s just a VMax polymer tip in a custom color and bullet weight. They aren’t the only ones doing it though. Until 2024 Winchester VarmintX was using VMax bullet with a custom grey tip.

I don’t think Hornady is going to buy AAC off PSA but I wouldn’t be surprised if you see something similar pop up from Hornady with a red tip instead.

Hear hear, a long Ian rant about why the NGSW sucks and pretty much covers all of it, without even talking about the actual rifle

Didn't see this brought up, but KommandoStore is putting out a clone of the unobtainium Arc'teryx LEAF uniform. You may recall their clone of the balaclava Craighead wore during the terror attack in Nairobi. I'm not the target audience, but it's nice to have a non-Canadian (and civilian purchasable) option if you are interested.

>Kommando Store

So it will be highly overpriced and the quality will be dubious at best.

I never understood the premium price tag people are willing to shell out for LEAF products that leak onto the civilian market especially with the synthetic down jackets. All these outdoor brands like Arc'Teryx, OR, and Patagonia use primaloft for the insulation of the insulated jackets and primaloft degrades over time especially after usage. You leave a synthetic down jacket with primaloft in your closest, maybe in ten years it will lose some warmth but ten years of use, the jacket will only be half as warm at best and would need to be replaced.

If you want your tactical larp kit, you're better off buying Arc'teryx from REI in neutral colors, dying it, and making sure the IR reflectivity isn't too bad afterwards.

No idea. Not my scene. Just think the uniform looks cool and I don't like Arc'Teryx.
It cracks me up that these far left outdoor apparel brands like Arc'Teryx and Patagonia caved to the temptation of SOCOM contracts and made them apparel after they saw what Wild Things did and how they made enough money to exit the outdoor recreation market. Especially since Arc'Teryx is fully Canadian and their politics don't differ from Patagonia too much.

I liked Arc'teryx stuff when I was more active but like Patagonia they went into a downward spiral of discontinuing useful garments and jackets for "muh environmental sustainability." Though I wish that grey softshell Patagonia makes for SOCOM was available.
