What do you guys think would be a good 30 cal suppressor host? I'm thinking a 300blk bolt like the Ruger ranch 2.

CZ has got a nifty little "tactical" bolt rifle in .300blk and 7.62x39mm with a collapsing stock that would fit the bill nicely. They come standard with a threaded barrel. I forget the exact model, but it shouldn't be hard to find on their website. You'll know it when you see it.

anyone have any stratageys if you go with qd hub mounts to prevent putting a can on the wrong caliber
I apologize in advance for not having a very helpful answer here. I've thought about implementing some sort of system like this - either having one system for smaller bore cans and one for larger cans, or having a QD system for .30 caliber cans and direct threading smaller cans. Ultimately I've just settled on religiously double-checking that every can matches the caliber of the gun that I'm putting it on.

One issue that I've run into is that when you don't have very many cans, you might want to put a .30 caliber can on a 5.56 rifle, which isn't optimal but is way better than not suppressing it at all. If those are using different mounting systems, then this becomes harder to do. If you shoot with friends, it's also nice to be able to lend them a can while you're at the range together, and that's much easier if they are using direct thread or a standardized QD system. I'll often toss my friends spare .30 caliber cans at the range and I like not having to worry about what mounting system they use and whether it matches what I use for a specific caliber.

Another issue is that as I've gotten more cans, I've had less of a clear distinction between large and small bore cans. I now have cans in 5.56mm, 6mm, 6.5mm, .30 caliber, and various pistol calibers, and I don't know how to implement a foolproof system of breaking those up that wouldn't leave me juggling too many mount types or at risk of putting the wrong can on a gun.

Ultimately I think that if money were no object, the best solution would be to have a dedicated suppressor for each gun that you own, but that's not going to be practical for a lot of people. If anyone has a foolproof system for matching suppressor mounts to guns, I'd love to hear it. As best as I can tell, it's a lot less effort to just read the number on the can and make sure that it's equal to or greater than the number on the gun.

Yes, Indeed MRGT, that is a Suppressor, and based on the seriousness of the advertising I don't think this is some dumb meme bullshit either. However this image brings up a very big question. How the hell are they achieving a gas seal. Based on that blurry as hell image I don't think they're using telescoped ammunition like a Nagant, which would also require a forward camming cylinder, They're evidently not using an external sealing system like Revolver Seal or the PDRS. That leaves three options. 1. This is a dumb meme image, 2. They're using a sabot system like the KAC revolver rifle 3. They're using some new kind of method to achieve a gas seal.
i've read conflicting reports so i might be wrong but if you have a tiny enough cylinder gap the suppressor can have a chance to do its job (just not as well as normal). there are youtube videos circulating of BFRs (that .45-70 single action revolver) working with suppressors, and they have no gas seal mechanism at all apart from having what seems to be extremely tight tolerances (which applies to cylinder gap)

I think we’re getting a bit ridiculous with belt fed AR platforms now

obsidian 9 is HERE and by god baby does it feel GOOD
Aaagghhhhh living my dream.

I'm between a threaded and non threaded RXM....

Have zero inclination for a suppressor and a threaded barrel from Ruger is $80....

I'll be getting a RXM next week, let's see if my LGS matches an online price (no shipping too) or if the online store beats them due to discount plus no tax.

Or 4. They're not:

the RXM won't let you down. you're gonna love it. stock trigger is fine but the overwatch precision NP3'd trigger parts and safety plunger really bring it up to give that "ooh, yea that's nice" feel. i only got a threaded barrel for the silencer and otherwise didn't feel like i was lacking without threads.

This makes the most sense, nobody's copying half of the 6 Unica's homework, and then doing a bunch of their own just so they have an overly complex way to get a proper seal with off the shelf ammo in a revolver.

Just throw a can on it and see what happens!

Finally got my shit together and am building an AR (BCM 16” ELW MCMR). After spending countless hours learning about LPVOs I naturally decided I want an EXPS3-0 with a G45 magnifier. Anyone have any experience with the G45? Even if the eye box isn’t as great as the G33 I think I’m gonna want the extra magnification. The Steiner T6XI 1-6 FFP would be my LPVO pick.

G45 is the best magnifier I have used and I have tried most of the magnifiers on the market. I would highly recommend it.

I would also recommend the Eotech 3-1 instead of the 3-0 because I prefer a plain dot to the donut reticle.

I do love Eotech, but I’ve been playing with an Sig Romeo 4 Pro recently, and it might replace Eotech as my favorite. It can switch between a single dot and a four dot setup with or without the donut. The four dot reticle makes 500 yard shots much easier than a plain dot, especially if you have wind.

Thank you! I’ll go with the G45 then. I may go look at some dots too but the holographic sight is just so cool.

My preference was to holographics, but the features on the Sig Romeo are useful to me. I really wish Eurotech would come out with a feature where I could turn on or off additional holds, or if they could just make them so small as to only be able to see them with magnification.

Welp, S&W just dropped a steel frame 5 inch M&P for competition

And FN just officially announced their next gen SCAR... Yaya mlok (let's see if suppressors void the warranty this time)

The updated backwards compatible BCG is pretty nifty (although hilarious that it's a hydraulic buffered BCG)

So now you have the 416/516/816 pattern, the MCX pattern, the AR-180 pattern and finally the SCAR Gen 2.0 pattern for your short stroke rifle needs.
