I'm not exactly a PSA fan, but I'm kind of insistent on chrome lining for most of my firearms if possible. Maybe it's because I like Kalashnikovs and it's a feature that's standard with that rifle.
Honestly I don't think Russkie ammo is going to be back for a while, I've heard of this stuff called TelaAmmo from Azerbaijan but the accuracy of their 7.62 seems 4-5 MOA on average and they have consistency issues with the current batch so I dunno if I'd use it. There's also some coming in from Kyrgyzstan that's got corrosive primers but that's not the main issue. I like 7.62x39 but it looks like I'm going to have to stick to domestic 5.56 for now (and yes there are AKs in that). And 5.45? I ask the local sporting goods guy for it as a joke.

I don't know about any other commie calibers, but 7.62x54R is finally back at least (I own a heavily modified M-N)

Edit: Heavily modified M-N

Few months ago, I ordered the traditional A2 upper with chrome lining.

The barrel is the same barrel used by FN for the M16A4 clone.

However the finish on the rest of the upper felt meh with a noticeable scratch. And I noticed the forge mark was the same forge where my Anderson upper for another rifle came from.

However it fires accurately despite me one time dropping it and the sights were not like canted or anything.

That's good to know, I'm not really into ARs but I've built a couple just because of logistics, granted it's not a factory product but I'd expect one to have a decent finish. Then again with an election year coming up quality takes a back seat to high demand.

Right now I'm not really thinking about new acquisitions, except maybe some ammo and assembling some related "soft goods" to go with my primary.

HK 416 chambered for 22lr
the one sold by HK is made by Walther/Umarex under license and is aluminum with cast zamak insert, the upper is polymer with cast aluminum insert. barrel is 4140 steel and most other parts are aluminum or polymer. unlike other .22lr's, there is an adjustment screw in the upper for standard or high velocity ammunition and it's quite forgiving.

I have an A4 style 20" upper from PSA.
I need to try it on a different lower just rule out a problem there but the reliability has been questionable thus far.
I buy other third party stuff from their website all the time because their prices are low (triggers, bolt carriers, etc) but never actually bought any of their branded parts. What issues have you run into (just curious)?

Mostly failures to feed/eject across multiple brands and types of ammo.
I suspect the gas system but like I said I want to try it on a different lower before I attempt anything more involved.
It's that or buy a 20" lightweight from DelTon and sell this one with full disclosure.

I have a Del-Ton upper/barrel combo at 16" that I'm very happy with, but I have no clue on their lowers.

I have found a real American, a man by the name of Gordon Dahle. Mr. Dahle is an amateur aircraft and firearms designer, but since this is the mega rad gun thread we shall focus on the latter
Mr. Dhale has designed two shotguns and the plans to build your own can be yours for $10 a piece.

99% the gas system. That's the most common part to absolutely fuck up an AR and PSA fuck ups are generally in the gas system.

With PSA, put the rifle together and put 55-77 grain through it. If it fires it all reliably you're good to go.

Of you don't want to worry AT ALL their SABRR series might be a ok or just get a BCM or DD.

if the ejection is weak: too little gas, too strong of a recoil spring, too heavy recoil buffer, under-powered ammunition, or a combination thereof. ejection should be strong towards the 3-4 o'clock. weak ejection is dribbling out of the ejection port, or flinging towards the 5 o'clock.

if failure to feed and this happens across multiple magazines, even when single loading: ensure the barrel extension isn't cocked, that the ammunition is in specification for 5.56x45mm (OAL = 57.4mm (2-1/4")). examine the round that failed to feed and determine if the bullet is being crushed from the front (nose diving in magazine) or the side (feed ramp issue, too long bullet, too slow bolt carrier group)

if failure to eject and this happens regardless if the magazine is fully loaded or partially loaded (or even not present): too little gas, too strong of a recoil spring, insufficient angle of attack on extraction claw, burr or other debris preventing clean extraction, under-powered ammunition, or a combination thereof. examine the case and rim of the failed to eject cartridge for rim tearing, scratch marks in the case, bulges in the case, punctured primer/cratering of primer, deformity of the neck.

all "mil-spec" AR-15s should be able to properly feed, fire, extract, and eject standard 5.56x45mm M193 cartridges.

My buddy has a 92FS that I love (but can't bring myself to purchase). I used to have an M4 Super 90, but I ended up selling it once all the 1187- based mag fed shotguns started coming out.

Solid company, but you pay for what you get!
If you like the 92 platform I suggest you save some money and get a 92 Elite LTT full size. I guarantee they're worth every penny.

How's the reliability of that 1187? I tried a friend's RIA VR80 and I was not a fan. That thing would not run an entire magazine without some sort of malfunction.
The Auto 9 is one of my favorite sci-fi flick guns, along with the M-56 Smartgun from Aliens.
That TST Chemrail rifle from Elysium would be my first choice, with the M41A pulse rifle a close second. I like the M56 but how the fuck do you load it?

So I decided to try out that RIBZ thing on the A4 rear detachable carry handle.

I messed up at the beginning by rotating the bottom of the drum clockwise, which made it stop after 2 or 3 clicks.

The after watching more video on how does one install the rear sight since I messed up the entire sight.

Basically bottom the drum all the way, then move it anti clockwise for the first click. Then move it 7 more clicks to add a 100 meter and 200 meter setting to the rear carry handle elevation knob.

Thanks, im aware of most of this info.
I have a suspicion it's a short stroke.
I'm just too damn lazy to really dig into it lately.

I got a close to original run EAA (Akdal) MKA1919. I've modified it a fair bit, mostly for 922(r) compliance (little parts like the forend, spring, and trigger help) and saw it off at the stock to put an M4 style on with one of the little adapters that the forend company had, but I've never had any problems with it no matter what kind of garbage ammo I throw through it, long as it's two and three quarter. I don't think I've put a single 3 inch through it - no real reason why except you never really see those on sale I guess.

If you don't care about having more than five rounds in the mag I suggest getting the 1923 instead, it's bullpupped and looks like a Tavor-21. The felt recoil is nothing! You just have to be sure to change a spring when you get it to take "high power" loads (He's run both high and low power loads through the same spring with no issue, so I don't know why they separate them on the 1923 - the pre-installed spring is worthless).

Edit (Yes I'm that blind, it's a 3x):

Interesting, with match ammo or what you can get how does it group exactly?

My "20 PSA upper gave my gas issues right out of the gate. 69 grain+ pills would not reliably cycle with a plain Aero brand lower. I am avoiding opening up the gas port as I really do not want to screw with the bore on a stainless upper that was at least marketed to bench rest accurate. I removed aproximately %60 of the weight of the standard buffer, have yet to return to the 400 yard range to test function. Plan B is drilling opening up the gas port and installing an adjustable gas block; if I have no choice but to open the bore of the gas port I plan to use a diamond burr or stone to avoid the edge created by traditional metal cutting tools.

I have a habit of ripping apart commie guns (I made a mag-fed bullpup out of an SKS) so I made friends with the owner of a relatively well-known custom barrel company. Turns out he thought what I was doing was cute and cleaned out the barrel and re-rifled it for me. We call it the Pinko 700.

I can pull 1-inch groups at 100 yards (that's good for me - I'm a terrible long-distance shot) but I've been running garbage 7.62x54R (I'm jealously hoarding my good ammo) so I'm pretty sure I could do a bit better.
