What exactly is fixed ammunition? Does that mean that the bullets can't fly out of the barrel?

He was making a bit of a joke it looks like, but fixed ammunition would be like a cartridge, say a 5.56 or even an artillery shell. It would include (Although nobody would make this out of black powder) the electrically ignited caseless ammunition he was describing in humorous terms.

As an aside, I'm STILL waiting for my electrically ignited caseless ammunition and flying car. What the fuck, it's the 21st century!

The aftermarket for the Ruger 10/22 sucks donkey balls overall.

Most of the mainstream stuff looks like cheap polymer doodooo with no aesthetics.

My first rifle was a 10/22, when I was young and retarded I thought the muzzelite bullpup kit was really cool. Trigger linkage was absolute shit, whole thing felt like a cheap airsoft gun, optics to bore axis was 6" difference and it made cleaning of the rifle very complicated with a series of 6-7 hex head screws, some of different lengths so you had to keep track of what went where, the plastic sights were terrible. The final straw was a Detective eyeballying my 10/22 in the muzzelite trying to figure out if it was an SBR. These days it's in an Archangel stock. @$130 it's surprisingly high quality, doesn't feel like some shitty airsoft gun.

You described cleaning the TKS exactly. It ain't easy to pull apart to get to the gas system. Easy enough to 'snake if you only crack off a mag or two, but it's cumulative and sooner or later you got to take that puzzle apart and put it back together again. Fortunately, the trigger linkage in my kit is solid as shit (and slightly redundant) so it doesn't feel mushy at all. Instead of pulling the trigger, it interfaces with the trigger mechanism directly.

I have an Archangel on that Mosin-Nagant I posted earlier. I was skeptical when I opened it, but after I installed and fired it i was so impressed I went out and bought a Timney trigger for it, since they had a pop out for the safety (and holy shit am I glad I did because it made a huge difference).

fixed ammunition isn't legally defined anywhere i'm aware of, but in a technical sense is any ammunition that is self-contained as a complete assembly of propellant, projectile, and primary explosive (primer). semi-fixed are typically not small arms, but guns where the projectile and propellant are separate such as artillery or certain older designs like paper cartridge ammunition.

I tried out those archangel promag magazines that you see in that picture. And it stopped feeding properly after a while so I got rid of them. I have a feeling that using plastic for the feeding lips is not a good long term idea.

I have been doing some house cleaning of gun trinkets that I have bought over the years. And just throwing them out since I know that I will never go back to them.

I dismantled the old BX trigger for the 10/22 before throwing it away. Since I am not going to tear the 10/22 again apart. It was painful and sweating the first time doing it when I tried to install the BX-25 trigger.

Triggers are a universal whore. I only do drop-ins now.

I noticed something for trigger pins.

Some have only one notch for the hammer spring to rest and some have two notches so both legs can rest.

The lower parts kit from Smith and Wesson has two notches, and so far the pins have not walked out.

I cannot vouch for the magazines, unless it is a genuine magpul I strictly only buy factory OEM magazines for my guns especially in super finicky rimfire guns.

I'm shocked Magpul has not made magazines for the 1911 and 10/22 yet lol.

Though another thing heavily neglected about the 10/22 is lack of good long term iron sights.

Ha - I wonder if that's why I launched a few triggers. I finished a couple of lowers for a buddy which I understand were an extreme budget brand. These also happen to be the only standard AR triggers I've installed from scratch.

Honestly I think every AR that that has a net value above $700 should have a self contained fire control group. I had a 9mm AR with the radial delayed blowback system CMMG made. It was not a true strait blowback, for whatever reason I kept getting "doubles" and "triples" I spent a lot of time diagnosing/tuning the thing before just put in a trigger back and never had to worry about it ever again. I agree with Ian of the forgotten weapons channel, the WWSD project got a trigger pack standard. Every AR beyond a low tier off the shelf deserves a trigger pack. HK did it that way for decades on everything from all the SMGs to mid level combat rifles to the G3 IDK why they didn't do it for the 416.

Does anyone have experience with a decent brace for a Ruger 10/22 charger? I started looking around for one and possibly a trigger upgrade and quickly discovered that there's less overlap with AR stuff than I'd hoped.

tldr, The 92 might be fine, but Rossi has horrible customer service and if you manage to break or damage a part that is proprietary in some of their newer guns you might be up shit creek. Whatever you save by buying a 95 instead of a Marlin or other reputable 30-30 lever action probably isn't worth it.

Oh yeah don't worry I've got a Henry on the way now. Managed to get it cheaper than the msrp too, just a bit disappointed is all.

Guess I'll look for a used 30-30 then, or save for a cheaper Henry. Loved when my cousin let me shoot his Marlin. Absolutely a fun time

Sorry, homie. 30-30 rifles are everywhere. Used is probably your best bet. And who knows, you may get lucky and get a mint pre-64 for less than $400 at an estate sale. Definitely go to those, most people don't know what grandad had, they're just icky old guns and need sold.

offset sights were a flash in the pan thing for a bit in my experience and even the people that tried it out ditched them quickly other than a couple guys loving the eotech magnifier because that sort of thing hanging off your rifle tends to catch on stuff like doors, vehicle interiors, cables, sling, your LBV, et c. the PEQ and weaponlight was tolerated because they had a very real advantage in consistent usage and the weaponlight fell off once the PEQ 15 and DBAL started getting popular since they had a really good light for use with PVS.

i can see an off set micro red dot being handy in competition if it's zero'd at a different range (say, irons at 50 meters and red dot at 200 meters with a compensated dot at 100), but otherwise it's a bit gimmicky unless your shooting concept is rapid transitions with occasional precision like action shooting vs bullseye or steel challenge or something.

historically sights were mounted like due to constraints on the action itself (M1C, M1903A4, et c) or because they were zero'd at a specific range and the scope in use had a very narrow field of view. even AKMN's with a mounted PSO were only slightly off set. these sorts of mounts also tended to lose zero or break if they weren't well made...

If someone’s so worried about their dot dying, either due to running out of juice or through destruction, just run conventional irons. An rmr is fairly durable as is and it has solid battery life. Alternatively, there’s also good closed emitter mailboxes that work too. Huge amount of “why?” in seeing that image. It looks like the front site is co-witnessing and not lower 1/3 too. That plate set up is on par with the autism that is the Hydra mount or LaRue’s C-note. I don’t understand these Instagram-hype-tier products.
