Don't move to Illinois then. They won't let you hunt with a 308 bolt action, but they will a "pistol," and a muzzle loader if you don't want to go shotgun route. Blue states are insane.
Late, but that sounds cool. Heard of those conversions. I don't think I'd have the heart though to tear up a M1.
WTF Illinois... A .308 bolt action is excellent for deer and other game up to a moose.
It's intensely satisfying to see drone bullshit being countered, no matter which side.
Yep, shotguns are coming back.
It is also pretty soft-shooting especially compared to an M2, mostly because of the weight
Don't forget the excellent Beretta 1301
chambered in .221 Fireball of all things and because of sperging about the “poodle shooter” caliber from Uber Fudd Jeff Cooper, they also planned on chambering it in .44 Automag as well
Oh dear God.... Of COURSE they had to mollify funds back then.
He'd be better off just getting a 7.62 NATO gun that he can carry because it fucks level 4 plates up and won't break his bank.
So,
@Null, please get either a FAL, AR-10, or a G3 derived design if you really do need something that does the job of fucking plated people up. .50 cal is for actual vehicles and above.
AR-10 on 2024 and beyond. AR controls plus 7.62x51 fun.
A little story about the Barret. When I was younger, my best buddies brother had gotten a civvy, one shot bolt Barret.
One winter afternoon, with about 4 feet of snow on the ground, we decided to lay out some 2 inch thick steel plates. He had tracers, about 10 of em.
So we each shot the Barret with the tracers. Punched straight through the plate, yes. Even a small bit of fire for a few seconds on it.
However, the sound that came through those pro level earpro still almost deafened me. And though the ground was covered with 4 feet of snow, the second I shot I was somehow surrounded by an impenetrable wall of dust. I call every 50 cal "Dustmakers" now because the force of shooting it somehow pulled dust from under the snow and off the snow covered trees.
Josh will not enjoy shooting this for defense. And most definitely will not enjoy shooting it inside. A piddly .22 in an enclosed room is enough to feel your eardrums bounce.
I fully support him buying one for fun because barrets are fucking dope.
But he also needs a battle rifle. Just a bog standard fighting gun. Get a Scar or a big fat commie caliber gun if you want armor punch, but for God's sake, just at least get a regular ass rifle.
You're too important to get got because you took one shot with a barrett and couldn't hear anyone running up on you.
Proper ear pro is a God send. Electronic ear muffs and/or the electronic in war plugs are amazing for keeping ears safe.
Crying, pissing myself, begging dear feeder to just get a 16" bcm ar and eotech before he goes gallivanting into meme calibers
Agreed. A reliable AR and a gold sight you train with is better than a 20mm autocannon.
The Reddit Special: BCM upper + Aero or PSA complete lower, is a great economical option. Then throw a quality dot on there. Good qc, good barrel, nice rail etc. Training and good shot placement beats the meme of wanting to 1 shot punch through level 4 armor. Hiding and waiting to ambush an assailant as they cross through a fatal funnel has much more value than a berrett indoors. Hell, you could have that gun that 1 shots through a level 4 plate, but when you're in that high stress environment you will default to what you've trained and could miss the shot. Just train the Mozambique drill and or get really good at clearing a plate rack fast.
Indeed. AR plus lots of ammo.

just noticed the jeet doesnt have his rear sight flipped up lmfao
Hehe. I know someone who got issued those and he loves it.
I'ma bet it's actually an abandoned missile silo in Nebraska. It's already built secure with lots of flat and open land
That would be amazing. Those old Silos come with land and the silo itself is awesome.
AKV-521 and three uppers
This is probably the ultimate evolution of the AK platform. AK operating system in an AR style split upper and lower. Upper keeps zero and lower holds the FCG
The fact every swinging dick isnt issued a short barreled double or triple barreled shotgun loaded with birdshot is beyond retarded. An extremely cheap and effective way to counter these crude drones.
Shotguns are getting more common in Ukraine.
Full concrete construction to protect against fire. garage below with living space above. retractable stairs or ladder to the living space. slit windows too small for a man to get through. keep supplies enough to withstand a siege until the authorities come. I'd attach pics but my WiFi is shitting the bed rn but just look up "American frontier blockhouse" and im willing to bet its alot cheaper than a actual bunker
Neat. I will say being underground is next level of cozy.
the self-adjusting ported screw that function based on the M60 design, where it allows pressure to build up to enough to work the operating rod before venting the remaining gas via a port that relieves pressure. both of these are the "easy answer" to peace of mind.
I gotta get one. My M1 is NOT getting killed by Turkish .30-06
Assuming that it's kept secure and free of moisture, is there any problem putting ammo in long term non-climate-controlled storage? Specifically, how much does temperature matter here? I've tried to do some research and read everything from "it's totally fine" to "it's incredibly stupid".
Should be a ok. So long as temps are below say 100f and above freezing no issues.
It really depends on the ammo, in my experience. I've had new brass go green in a week and I still have a backlog of old 40s-50's era 38Special that sat in a moldy ass barn for who knows how long that still goes bang.
Edit: If you're not talking about scientifically hand loaded, exact foot pounds of press autist loaded ammo and referring to "I bought a box of Winchester." the store bought stuff can sit forever. Everyone who grew up in a gun family probably still has a box of grandad's 12 gauge or 30-30 that still fucks as hard as they day it was bought.
Ammo kept dry can last for DECADES. Moisture KILLS guns and ammo
Yeah, that makes sense. It's a little hard to explain my situation without powerleveling, but I'm about to have access to an outdoor closet of sorts. I was thinking about weatherstripping it and throwing in a portable dehumidifier and keeping some ammo there. I don't live anywhere with extreme temperatures.
The green metal ammo boxes with functional gaskets in a bigger box with a dehumidifier should be A ok.
11.5" is the best shorty 5.56 length, imho. 11.5" has ~40% more dwell time than 10.3", which results in slower internal parts wear and lower likelihood of malfunctions.
At that length get something piston driven
Wanted to buy another revolver, but spent the money on gear for my existing guns instead. Proud of myself today.
Nice.... Get the revolver in a few months
Guys, I no longer believe "le 2-Eh iz 4 erryboddy" by default anymore. People need to either have grown up along gun culture to understand basic shit, or bullied mercilessly online and in person till they lurk long enough and make some mistakes to absorb information and get over their dunning-kruger to "get it".

It's for everyone, even blithering retards
Have you thought about a gun to knock drones down? A 12 gauge shotgun with a longer barrel? full choke? What shell loads? 3 inch #4?
Anyone have ideas? I'm curious about this one, because of what we've seen in Ukraine.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=fRkjjpgnSL4
12 gauge pump and semi seem to be the preferred option.
Russian caseevac guys seem to be running shotguns now
In ukraine the drones that drop bombs tend to average about 70 yards up based on how long it takes the projectile to hit the ground.
The surveillance/spotter drones seem to be at like 150-200 yards.
The dropper drones could go much higher but in the time it takes the bomb to reach the target the target may move away so 70ish yards seems to be the sweet spot between being hard to shoot down and not having a super long delay between drop and detonation.
Shotguns are great for fov drones diving on you or for surveillance drones coming down to look in a building
Cubans with "Vilma" occluded optics. Operate like the old Armson OEG's except they run on batteries and not fiber optics/tritium . Very primitive, lmaoing at their lives
Oh my.... Those look decades out of date.
The Cuban military isn't exactly swimming in cash...
Here you go josh 9mm tippmann gattling gun no NFA paperwork required sold just like a handgun or rifle (uses Glock mags) perfect for your kiwi bunker
videoplayback (26).mp4
Those also came in .22lr, .357 Magnum AND .44 mag.
Same Tippmann as the paintball guns
One gun I'll recommend for Josh is the CMMG MK 47 Mutant. Fires 7.62x39mm, uses AK mags, handles like a AR. Pricy yes. But it would compliment his AR-10 loadout well. The AR-10 for punching holes, and the Mutant for thumping squishy targets with way less recoil (and at a cheaper price). And both would be 30 cal, nice synergy there.

Ehh a .300 blackout AR would be slightly easier moving from an AR-10.
I have very personally identifiable guns and I don't want to tie my name to this account.
Tfw the multicolor punisher skull AR has the SSN and legal name engraved on it

Holy shiiiiittt that is some faith in the product
Definitely wouldn't recommend ANY of these new startup places, they all seem pretty fly by night and are mince their words when it comes to marketing.
Perfectly happy with my Romeo MSR and Crossfires, plus both SIG and Vortex seem way cooler about warranty shit, if the things even break
Agreed, most are made in the EXACT same factories as holosun aka the Chinese military #1 optic supplier.
