Go to a gunshop and get an M&P Sport, it will be within or just above your price range.

Buy a PSA direct from the site. They have deals every time it rains. Which means you can get a good rifle. A decent optic or attachable irons. And ammo all from the exact same place. For under 700.

If you have to finance a gun, you shouldn't get that gun. Get a maverick 88 shotgun or used glock if you're over 21.

What do you even want this gun for?
 
Those 60 round Schmeisser mag work fine if you lube it like @Club Sandwich said, and don't use steel case ammo. Steel case tends to bind up in the mag. There's a lot of tension on the spring, so you might want to fully load it with a Maglula speed loader, leave it for a few days, unload it, reload it, and repeat this a few times, just to break it in a little.
 
You could always part out getting your AR, get a complete upper first and get a cheap lower later where you can put in aftermarket guts.

This but for everything. If you have to finance something, you will be much better suited getting something for less and owning it straight out. The only exception might be a house. And even that is just because few people have a solvent 50k for a starter home. Definitely not cars. There are endless pastures full of good cars that you can buy straight out and drop another K or so into to have a rod running forever.
 
Ww1 brought us the Winchester ‘97 trench gun, and the lesser known Remington Model 10 trench gun, but there were also prototypes made for a Stevens 520 trench gun for Ww1:

The cheapest AR that will last you a long time and will be functional long after a ban or SHTF is gonna be around 1K. Lowers from all the major budget brands are largely interchangable (S&W, PSA, Anderson, Aero) will run you about 150$ before shipping, tax and FFL fee, and can easily be checked for fitment with some basic tools that youll want to get anyways.




The real issue in your budget is going to be getting a decent upper and BCG that arent trash, this is where Id avoid the budget brands and go with a BCM. This is the part of the rifle where all the magic happens. The 2 most important parts of an AR are the barrel and BCG, so its the area you cant afford to cheap out on. If youre patient for a sale you can get one for 650-750$ shipped straight to your door.

For now a cheap set of plastic magpul irons will work (25$ish), but long term, plan on spending around 50% or more of the base cost of your rifle on a suitable optics package.
IMO just start browsing r/gundeals daily (yeah I know), its an invaluable resource that has saved me a metric ton of shekels in the past few years. Everything you want you will eventually find there at a competitive price, including ammo.

I agree with a BCM upper being a good option for first time buyers, especially if you can catch one on sale. Unfortunately the next big sales event would likely be Black Friday, and considering what's going on, I'm not sure someone would want to wait until after the election to buy.

I didnt link it, but I actually checked gundeals as I was making my post and they had a 14.5 BCM upper on sale 3 days ago, I see them on there constantly. We are a few months out from the election and it seems congress is mostly in deadlock, so unless he's concerned about a local/state ban in his area Id not be terribly concerned.

This is a question that comes up a lot. People unfamiliar but just getting into guns hyper focus on getting an AR first as it is touted (perhaps totally justifiably) as the best gun to get, and it is also the gun that is most often attacked and has the highest risk of future bans.
I don't know that buddy glows. I think it's a case of "Holy shit, stuff is getting weird. Maybe I really do need a gun, and everyone says that I should have an AR. So I should get one like now, before I maybe can't."
Eventually they stick around and learn that the true rifle to seek is the FAL or the Galil.
 
I think i fucked up my wrist shooting today. Was shooting my Merkel m/8 12 gauge and after about 6 rounds my wrist was in pain. wrist rotation is moderately painful rn. its enough to make me wince.

I just don't know what i did. Ive put a few hundred dove loads through this gun just fine without injury so far. Had the gun mounted normally and was not shooting at some odd angle or inclination.

The starter homes for under $100k don't exist anymore unless it's a run down shack somewhere.....

Cars.... $10k for something under 15 years old. A $5k car is going to be a salvage title or 20+ years old and beat to absolute SHIT.

For guns, buy what you can afford and IF you can't afford it all now, but it in parts where possible.

A AR lower is $45-$85, stripped. The LPK is another $40-100.

An AR lower can have all of its parts installed at home in under 90 minutes.

Then get a Blem or on sale BCM upper and off you go.

Don't NEED an optic, MBUS irons work fine and cost way less than even the cheapest good Scope (think $280+)

Hard brace it for a few days, then switch to an ACE bandage. Try to limit movement, and do not take anything for the swelling if you get any. The inflammation is good, means stuff is getting repaired and the swelling is your body cushioning and limiting the mobility on purpose.
What you did is get old. I feel it too, sometimes.

Not wrong but can I ask do you own a handgun?

I just ask because realistically you're not going to be carrying an AR with you everywhere you go, and a concealable weapons you can keep on your body when you're outside the house is probably the most practical thing to start with.
