Took my oldest son to the range today and had a helluva great time. Brought the Staccato, FK Brno PSD, HK Mark 23, S&W Model 57, Browning Buckmark, Browning BL-22, and the Mossberg .22lr lever action rifle I bought for my son for his 8th birthday. Got the red dots for the Staccato and PSD zeroed. It was my first time shooting the Staccato, FK Brno and Model 57 since I bought them, and the first time shooting for my son at an actual range. Every other time I've taken him it's just been plinking cans and bottles out in the boonies.

The Staccato ran like a gas-soaked weasel with it's ass on fire. I was able to get a pretty great group at 20yds using S&B ball ammo, and I zeroed it for the Hornaday Critical Duty 135gr FlexLock +P ammo I've been carrying in it. The FK Brno PSD was a helluva fun gun to shoot. You really know when you touch one of those off. It's like a .357 Mag going off (850 ft. lbs. at the muzzle), but recoil was very controllable. Kinda like shooting my Mark 23. I didn't group that well with the Model 57. It's been a long time since I've shot magnum wheelguns. Just need to get back into the groove with it.

My boy shot everything at least once. He said he favorite one was the FK Brno. I plan on taking him more often, even if it's just to shoot .22s so he can build up his skills.

I'm happy that I've got the Staccato all set up now. I'm going to experiment with some other ammo to see what it likes best, but so far it's happy with the Hornaday. I have a box of Underwood 90gr Xtreme Defender +P, the kind that have the flutes cut into it so it looks like a Phillips-head/cross-head screwdriver, and if it runs and groups well with them then I'll likely buy more for winter carry since they won't potentially gunked up and fail to expand when they punch through heavy winter clothing like traditional hollow points sometimes can. I've also got some Gold Dot 124gr +P as well.

Speaking of ammo, I bought some of those non-pyrotechnic tracers in .45 ACP since it was some of the cheapest target ammo I could find. I think the box of 50 was only like $19. Anyways, they actually do work. Some of them didn't, but most worked, though they were a little hard to see in the bright lights of the range and at such short distances, but if you were out in the dark and shooting at a longer range I think it would be a lot easier for the shooter to see.

Edit: Forgot to mention that shooting that Browning BL-22 that I inherited from my father-in-law was really nice. Honestly it's one of the sweetest shooting .22 rifles I've ever shot. Ran really smoothly, groups nice and tight, and feels great because it's so light and handy. It's definitely going to get a lot of use with my family.

Knowing that a Steyr AUG 40 cal exists but basically only in Brazil because of the cokeheads saddens me beyond belief. I want one Steyr. Probably will just settle with a HI point carbine or a Ruger PC carbine in 40 after I get my pistol, but I can dream bros of getting a bullpup 40 cal subgun of doom.

I'd disagree. I think the plains are the most similar to Ukraine out of anywhere in the US. Ukraine, specifically the Donbass, is nothing but vast open steppe with occasional treeline, and isolated urban/suburban settlements.

Lets think about this. If large scale violence comes to Dakota, or Utah, or Nebraska, where is all the fighting going to be? Well we can look at Ukraine for guidance. In Ukraine they're not fighting in open plains. The plains (steppe) dont offer cover or concealment or infrastructure or anything really. They build defensive fortifications in advantageous locations. They build trenches on the edges of cities. They build trenches in treelines. They build trenches at critical road and railroad junctions. Simply put, the violence is where the important stuff is located.

I'd be willing to bet if violence comes to Nebraska, the village of Big Springs (a town of 400 with a critical junction of US interstate 80) will be more likely to see violence than some random cornfield. Similarly, if violence comes to Utah, who is going to be dying over a literal wasteland desert with nothing in it? Nobody. But lots of ment probably will die over control of Provo Utah. All the major highways coming out of southern California to Salt lake city go through provo. If you can take provo, you have massive leverage over salt lake.
I live in Utah. It depends on where you are. The Wasatch front is where most people live here. That would be urban, though long stretches of semi flat terrain would lend well to sniping. 308 and above would reign king. Now getting closer to the mountains? You want AT LEAST a 300 win mag. 6.5 Creedmore would be decent, but in general you would want magnums with lots of energy just due to distances getting longer.

As for who would die over Utah? We have the deepest copper mine in the world as well as large quantities of uranium and salt. Not to mention gold. Lots of minerals come out of here.

Ime FFP optics are bad since even with a 1-8 the reticle is totally invisible, and at max mag the reticle is way too thick. I used to have a Monstrum and at 1X it HAD to be illuminated, and at 100 yards the crosshairs would totally hide a soup can, so at least 4MOA probably. I can't even imagine what this would look like with 3-30 or something like that, as really neither end is all that useable.
Instead of fucking with a useless scope I currently have a 3-18 SFP and it's much much better than a FFP due to being good at all mags, where speed shooting and super precise stuff are equally doable.

LPVOs are fine, but the people talking about them are all armchair experts and overstate their useability. It's really a master of none situation, where by trying to do everything you can't do anything. Being a one guy team is difficult though, as you can't just lean on the DMR or SPR guy when you need him. You can push a red dot pretty far by just dropping to a lower setting, and score similar enough hits to an LPVO, as really both of them require guesswork. Things will obviously suck when they're not built to do something

PSA put my m193 and m855 purchase under fraud review and I had to talk to a nigger lady named Jessica in customer service :(
I’m just glad it wasn’t an indian man.

That's because Monstrum is Chinese "mediocre at best" glass and built quality. That's like thinking an IO AK is representative of all AKs....

LPVOs don't start to get good until $600+ aka a Vortex Viper or better

For sure, but to have a reticle be thick enough to work without batteries at 1X it's gonna be fatter than your mom's legs at 6X and above.
I only briefly looked through some fancy scope that was 3-30ish, but same deal where one end will suck and the other will really suck, no matter how you design shit.
I really don't like the idea of relying on something that needs batteries where they only last a little while. It's one thing if you have a 50K hour red dot, but I've killed scope batteries by forgetting them a couple days. Even if you have to multiply by doubles or triples to do holds, an SFP doesn't need batteries to operate at low X.

ground hogs are open season most places in America mr bass. no need to just play online.
They are open, but there is some gay commie rules about city limits that might tell me I can't dakka out back, in theory.

It was really a simple job. I'm not a sociopath but dude was fucking my garden up and they are over populated here. I was kinda impressed how well these rounds I cobbled together worked.

Can this be swapped to 10mm? I mean.. 556, like the 9mm can be. What a weird concept.

It is specifically 40 cal because Brazil is full of coke heads and don't trust 9mm to do the job when it comes to a drug fueled bezerker charging at some cop with a machete. I'm serious.

I hope little bro realizes how cool his dad is about this and how spoiled he is.

Now that I'm buying ammo again, I'm looking at stuff for all my rifles, 300 win mag included. Still high as fuck for the good shit lol. Could buy so much 40, 38 special, or even 7.62x39mm for the price of one box of good 300 win mag that isn't just range fodder. Lol lmao. In any case, the second 150 rounds of my 40 S&W shipment comes today, so I'm excited.

if only there was a to lessen the cost. . .

you would absolutely save substantial money on 300 win mag long term.

The concept is interesting, and that bolt is pretty neat (which also reminds me of something although I can't put my finger on it), but it's this part which really started cooking my noodle:
And the barrels being tested are also new, sort of.
Tapered-bore guns propel a swageable projectiles propelled down a constricted caliber barrel for high muzzle velocity and reduced aerodynamic drag. This technology was first demonstrated in the 1930s for medium caliber, high-velocity anti-tank guns that were fielded by Germany during World War II. After the war, all tapered bore gun efforts failed to achieve projectile structural integrity, but Army researchers have succeeded and are improving on the tapered-bore design to boost velocity, delivering more energy on target.
But the U.S. Army’s new 24-inch prototype barrel produced muzzle velocities of 4,600 to 5,750 feet per second.
The combustion chamber pressure was increased from 65 ksi to 100 ksi (100,000 pounds per square inch), almost double the pressure seen in the M4 carbine.
I always wondered if taper/squeeze-bores would make another appearance.

40 cal because Brazil is full of coke heads and don't trust 9mm
To be fair it was more of a sunkcost fallacy situation with the handful of Augs they bought, might as well use them to run the fuckton of CBC .40 they already bought and will continue to buy for their handguns but 9mm taking over again after the 90s .40 craze, to my knowledge though they've never rechambered them back to 9mm and aren't really used much anymore.

On a somewhat related note you have this done in a brief collaboration of FAMAE the Chilean state arms manufacturer and Taurus, it was developed to basically run through all the millions of surplus M1 Carbine rounds that were left in Army stores but kept having issues that Taurus wouldn't fix as they were allegedly under contract to not be allowed to modify the design at all which while strange I can believe having worked with FAMAE before and gone through their retarded process to be approved as a business partner.

What isn't stated is what barrel length the projectiles were fired from. Whether it be the 13" XM7 or the 16" XM250. And while I am not a materials scientist I want to state the obvious and say that this steel plate of 5-7mm thickness is not the same as a ceramic strike face with a UHMWPE backing
