If you're broke, it's better than no 1911. They at least offer it in the old GI setup, so even if fit and finish isn't the best, it still has that WW2 asthetic.

Just toss the mag that comes with it, that is garbage and like half the issue of cheap 1911's. Toss in some Wilson combat mags and you should be gtg for the most part.

Edit: if you're in a 10 round state, have you thought about revolvers? Very user friendly, has powerful flavors like 357 magnum that cal also load 38 special, and used models are fairly cheap.
I've definitely considered revolvers. That being said 10+1 is a hell of a lot more than 5/6. My dumb ass only got one pistol permit. Still, they're only 25 bucks, so I'm not overly concerned.

Fair enough. If you get a second permit though, it's something to consider. A J frame tucks away quite nicely and has that noir feel if you're into that

A long time ago, I was looking into a glass display case in a gun store, at a snub nose revolver with a long and large cylinder.
Me: What's that?
Gun store salesman: Oh, it's a 45-70 snub nose.
Me: Lol, why do they even make that?
Gun store salesman: Because it's not against the law to have more money than brains.

A young me learned a lot about how many people go through life right there.
They called it the Thunder Snub XD

I know he’s somewhat of a “troll”/controversial figure but that skinny jean wearing Lucas Botkin (T-Rex Arms Guy) was xeeting the other day that he was supposedly “training his local swat team” or something

And he said that irons are dumb/gay and that the guys with red dots were just far more accurate and that they seemed to be more “intuitive” with their firearms. I wouldn’t know because I’m profoundly retarded and never sat down to figure out how to properly zero the red dot I have for my AR or the swampfox I have for my 43x…so I’ve just been working with irons for the last several years.
I can't speak to what Lucas is or is not doing with his local swat, but optical devices(especially red dots) are more intuitive for most people. New shooters pick up "put the dot on the target and fire" quicker than "line up the front post between the rear posts, center them on the target and fire". Teaching people to target focus is also easier with dots.

For cops, the guys with dots probably shoot more than those who don't bother to swap out stock glock irons.

I do dig the noir vibe. What do you recommend as far as a cartridge for a revolver? 38S?
Depends on the revolver size. A snubbie I would keep at a 38. Something mid size go for 357, you can still use 38 with it. Anything bigger you're buying for a purpose most likely, like a 44 magnum for bear protection.

also what the hell do you mean "make your own flashlight"?
well i think it means nobody has a good enough grip on the brakes to go "wait a fucking second i'm not Tinker F. Cummings, that's why i'm trying to fucking buy one"

edit: i've got the protac 2 on my MP5 which i like but may be a little bigger than what you'd want. it's bright but not blinding and it throws light farther than i'd need.

What about cool factor? I'm planning on getting the BFR in 30-30. Specifically so I can wear a bandolier and use the same rounds in both my revolver and lever action.
When I first saw the levergun, I was hoping it was in 357. And then I could get a 357 and maximize.
It's 30-30, so, necessity is the Mother of buying big ass dumb revolvers.
Mofuggin hand cannon.

If it's for fun, do what you want lmao. It's your money. It's just going to be less practical the bigger you go. But it will be fun to shoot

I was searching for a red dot for my g43x for months and didn't want to settle on a holosun, I've had bad luck with them shitting out on me. I finally was able to pick up a sig romeo-x and wow, it's pretty nice. Weird how sigs optics seem to be higher quality than the actual guns they produce. So now I've got a miscegenated sigger glock.

Rock Island tends to use ACT mags, which are generally pretty decent. they're an improved clone of para's old series 80 mags and good enough for most types of use, same as CMC. i would be surprised if they have issues, however they aren't Checkmates, Mec-Gar or Wilson.

What are some good options for glock barrels? I finally bought a can and I need a threaded barrel for my G19 so I can be a cool operator.

Barsto has been one of the go-to companies for high quality barrels for years. Whatever you decide to get though, make sure you check to see if it is a drop-in barrel that requires no fitting or gunsmithing, or if it will be requiring fitting by a gunsmith.

I can't speak for him, but most Surefire pattern lights are modular, and can be assembled with bodies, heads (either complete with LED, or with a drop-in LED), and tailcap/switch, remote of your choice. You'd have to look at companies that sell individual parts like Arisaka, Malkoff, Z-bolt, Lumens Factory, etc, and mix and match what you want. I'll say again, Arisaka/Malkoff make slim and bright scout heads that look good.
What are some good options for glock barrels?
Brownells house brand barrels are good to excellent, and also around $100. I also like that they don't have exposed logos, unnecessary milling on the hood, or fluting that makes the barrel worse. They drop right in and eat everything. I wouldn't get anything cheaper than that.
Rosco has a deep sale on Glock barrels right now.
The KKM that I had, had a tight-ish chamber, but was picky about ammo it would chamber. Accuracy wasn't all that great either.
I had a FJ Fedderson, but it wouldn't take my handloads with 124 JHP bullets (short throat) so I sent it back.
Triarc Systems barrels are made by FJ Fedderson, so they have the same short throat problem, and fuck that noise altogether.

Barsto are all either semi-drop-in (needs some work), or gunsmith barrels (NEEDS LOTS of work), expensive, and I don't know if they sell threaded barrels.

Got this video in my YouTube recommends, the guy made a working version of the silenced shotgun from “No Country For Old Men” with its DIY silencer:

If you don’t know the original prop used in the movie didn’t actually have a functioning silencer, and VFX were used instead.

He also shouted out this YouTube channel that has some interesting stuff, like a suppressed bolt-action 12 gauge:

Wonder what a semi auto BAR goes for.
There's the H.C.A.R which is a "modernized" BAR. Goes anywhere from 6-8k. Its been around for awhile so there's plenty of reviews. OG BAR parts kits go for even more and you'll have to supply your own barrel + receiver.

Weird how sigs optics seem to be higher quality than the actual guns they produce
Thats because most of their optics are made in China (at least in part) so no US MIC contract gibs for middling quality
