Not trying to pick on you specifically, but Dragon's Breath shotgun shells are one of the singularly most overhyped, overrated, and underperforming ammunition on the market.Take some dragons breath with you to the range, the RSO will get a kick out of that.
It's a glorified sparkler in my experience. Little better than a heavy loaded blank shell. I would rather take a Ruger 10-22 into combat than a shotgun only fed with Dragon's Breath shells. Would I want to get shot at close range with Dragon's Breath? No, but I don't want to get shot with a blank at close range either.
Yeah they would be a fun little range toy, if they didn't cost as much or more than premium buckshot.
You would be right about some RSOs having a shitfit though. But many RSOs will throw their (considerable) weight around for just about anything, because petty power breeds petty tyrants.

Mossberg knows how to make a good shotgun... when they want to. The 590 ("Tactical") is perfectly functional from what I hear. Though if I had to take a shotgun into combat it would probably be something closer to the Mossburg 940 JM. I really don't want to have do pump action work in combat stress conditions. Short-stroking is a major problem that requires more time and intensive training than I have to mitigate the issue. Even if you get to working the pump perfectly, it is still a distraction away from the actual shooting itself.
I wish mag-fed shotguns were more reliable. They are getting closer, this latest generation of designs works decently as a range toy. I wouldn't want to run them through rough conditions though. The ammunition is the real problem: many standards for the same gauge, and the rim at the base plays all sorts of havoc with autoloaders. Tube-fed autos took a long time to get combat-resilient, and they still tend to be picky with ammo.
