I've owned an AUG clone (MSAR STG-556) and currently own a Tavor. I sold the STG because it worked fine, but was only kinda sorta an AUG, which meant that spare parts worried me after it was discontinued. Currently have an original Tavor and I like it, but I think I liked the AUG's overall physical ergos and balance a hair better, and it was definitely easier to disassemble.
That said, the Tavor came with a better trigger and after installing the Geissele upgrades it's actually phenomenal. It's got integrated BUIS and one big ergo advantage I liked vs the AUG was reloads- the OG Tavor has a drop-free mag release you can bump with the back of your strong hand, and even better the newer X95 has an AR-style release button right at your fingertips. After you swap mags you can then hit the giant bolt release with your weak hand, since it'll be right there anyway. Not quite as fast as an AR, but still bretty gud
The AUG has the mag release behind the mag, which means you can't really just drop a mag with one hand while grabbing a fresh one with the other. To pull off a relatively smooth reload you have to grab a mag with your weak hand, hit the mag release while still holding the fresh mag, and then possibly pull the spent mag free from the magwell. After that the bolt release is a smaller tab located up on the receiver, and I always just felt like the reloads were a little more cumbersome. Maybe this bothers you, maybe not, but I get a weird satisfaction from being able to run a gun quickly
I don't know much about the VHS, but every review I remember says that it has a long LOP and a weird bolt release. They seem positive about it aside from that, but I think my next bullpup will be an X95 or Tavor 7
