If you’re buying nods for slaying hogs you’re right.

If you’re buying nods for social collapse/chimp outs no.
Wearing a heavy helmet means you'll be instinctively trying to keep your head as still as possible, which means you're not going to be looking around as much, ruining your situational awareness. It also attracts unwanted attention, which is the last thing you want in a social collapse or a chimpout scenario.

But if the chimps manage to get their hands on some mortars, then yeah, helmet time.

Overall nothing wrong with owning one, but I wouldn't be rocking it unless it's a very specific sort of scenario.

But what about the New year celebration with them trying to shoot the moon? The 9mm come down like rain in both Chicago and Baltimore.

*not serious*

Wearing a helmet with nods attracts attention period. You’re wearing that shit when attracting attention is no longer a factor.

If the 1-2kg difference makes your neck too weak to keep your head on a swivel you too weak to wear a plate carrier and need to stay home.

Try marching in your kit for half a day and then tell me how much difference 1-2kg makes.

Which furniture set did you use? I recently swapped back on a honey-colored Polish laminate LHG in place of the steel AMD-65 piece that I was using - I keep swapping them (and the pistol grips) back and forth every few months or so just because I like fucking.around with it.
According to their website it's Baltic birch laminate wood with a black poly satin finish. I dont know what most of that means, but it fits well with the basic bitch black paint my m92 upper handguard came with.

There’s civilians who do it. Other civilians won’t need to do it and will need it briefly as a force multiplier when their town is subject to a hurricane/chimp out. It’s still a force multiplier.
Well, good luck. Best case scenario it may have some psychological effects on the local chimps but that's about it. At worst it may hamper and distract you, while designating you as a lootbox for Cleetus and his 30-06 or for Jamal with a dozen of his buddies.

Mr. Badass larping in his $1000 dollar iron lung is going to get severe whiplash or worse if he actually finds himself in a shooting situation while playing pretend. I get the whole social collapse aspect but it's still a waste if someone's not raining mortars on you. Bump helmets are called bump for a reason and they have been worn in combat if all you care about is something's pedigree.

Anyway I'm done arguing about it. Your money, even if it's not your common sense.

Ballistic helmets are great if you're prone with your face in the dirt, and shit is coming down on top of you. Otherwise it doesn't cover much, look how much of the head is exposed when standing upright.

That particular cut is ridiculous and Ukraine has shown that it can get people killed. There's a photo of a guy with shrapnel sticking out of his helmet exactly where the high cut hole is on a FAST style helmet. That's why only SF uses them as SF aren't expected to stand and fight if things get too hot or be under artillery or mortar fire.

That ultra high cut is going away as newer helmets are made with headphones in mind, see MICH, IHPS, and ACH.

You can get a perfectly good used ACH or similar that mounts NV just fine for not much and it might save your life. Not as good for headphones but oh well.

If you just want an NVG mount you can get what's essentially a head harness for one. Extremely light and pretty cheap.

If you're getting NV you're already shelling out good money (hundreds to thousands). Pay a bit more for a proper mounting solution. A bit more is about $250-$500.

Meanwhile Team Wendy wants $310 for a molded plastic bump helmet..... What a joke. Others are $200+

If you're getting a military-like helmet, get a rated one or don't get one. Instead get a bike or skater helmet for $50 and use a drill.

Why? You'd be just as served setting that way more than a few hundred dollars on fire. I'm almost positive that the people who think they need a ballistic helmet have never worn one, and don't know what they're for. They see them in videos and shit and think that it looks cool but it's such an honest to god waste of money if you don't actually need it.
Just like NODs..... Heavy, expensive, and they EAT batteries.

Oh and if you don't fit them correctly they literally make a "shoot here" glow right on your face to anyone else with NV.

You want useful NV, get a thermal scope or image intensifier scope or hell both. One on a gun, one handheld. Small(er), lighter, easier to carry and conceal if necessary.

I don't care to weigh in on the debate, but I will say that I chuckled at helmets being referred to as "force multipliers". That's a new one.
If you just want an NVG mount you can get what's essentially a head harness for one. Extremely light and pretty cheap.

The weight is actually the problem with those. Having the weight of NVGs hanging a few inches in front of your face with nothing in the rear to counterbalance is hell on your neck. If you look at modern photos of Gucci SF-types, you'll often see things sticking off the lower back part of their helmets. Those are counterweights, and heavy-ass quad NVGs are why they wear them.

Thread tax: Got new G-10 grips for my SP-01. I went with CoolHand because they're essentially the exact same product as LOK or any of the other big names for a third of the price. I like them, the texture on the factory grips is nice, but that palm swell just didn't do it for me.

I'm getting my new baby Beretta 21a Bobcat in .22lr next week.

Comes with the basic black plastic grips but I'm want checkered walnut or G10. Altamont is out, anyone know of any grip/grip panel makers who do semi custom work or make stuff for a 21a Bobcat?

Bullseye Grips and Terry at Grip Guy 3 are all good semi-custom makers. Bullseye is a bit specialized for competition, but maybe they have some bandwidth for a Bobcat. if not, and you have a pattern, try Terry and work out something you like. if you're okay with wood, and don't mind waiting or some work, Engineered Accessories has a pretty good selection to modify.

For checkered walnut, I found this:

http://grips4u.net/product/beretta-21a-grips-checkered/

No mention of custom options, though.

Beretta also made one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Beretta-To...ut-Grips-32-auto-pistol-UD6A0354/222717804238

For custom, I was going to recommend Marschal, but it turns out he doesn't really do very many Beretta grips. I know you said no Altamont, but your best bet is possibly to buy their smooth walnut grips from Engineered Accessories and then send them to someone to be custom stippled.

Lucky bastard - I gave up on trying to purchase an Atom slide because they’re perpetually out of stock.

I’ve yet to see anything comparable to the Atom Slide for any other platform.
I love it, got one before they became unobtanium. I have a FNX 45 I use my RMR on (entirely because of how much I played DayZ) but this system is just smooth and intuitive, especially with how they put the sights in front of the red dot so you’re not drawing your eyes like a standard rear sight and it’s all on the dot. I’m disappointed more systems aren’t like this at all and the M17 is retarded with its set up.

All you really need for a Glock as a starter is to upgrade the sights and get a surefire, BUT once you get into it a Unity atom with your preferred red dot, kagwerks slide release, a flat trigger, and some frame stippling with an undercut makes it into a GOAT gun

Don't listen to @White Devil he's been practicing his headshots and wants to trick you into leaving your head unguarded because he doesn't know how to shoot below the cranium.
Buy the heaviest and most expensive helmet you can so you can be protected from this maniac after the heat death extinction war.
