Noticed this on my Guns and Ammo yesterday: 20230205_084236.jpg
Both hold 18 with the extended mags. Yes a 18 shot 45. The boys at FN are smoking something fierce.

20 shot 10mm when
The other variant is a 18 shot extended mag 10mm actually lol. 45 kills the soul, 10mm will just kill ya, especially with 18 rounds.

On another note it's that time of the year where I'm saving up for a gun. Already got a bolt action with my Franchi Momentum in 300 win mag, my semi auto rifle in my SKS, and a revolver. I have some choices now: a 22, a PCC (a hi point carbine in 45 ACP so I can live that dollar store Tommy dream), a shotgun, or a cheap semi auto handgun (Already got 8 round Wilson combat mags and G2 45 p+ Speer gold dot 45 from years ago just lying around if I want to go the cheap baby's first 1911 route).

While the final option would be up to me, I would value your input. Personally I'm drifting towards the PCC or the cheap 1911.

I would go for a shotgun. You already have two rifles and two pistols. Variety is the spice of life.

I only have the revolver for the pistol category XD, but I agree that a shotgun, one of which I have my eye on, is definitely on my radar and has been for a while, that RIA mag fed pump one, which by all accounts from my brother, works damn well, along with being able to share mags with him, and its useful for both shotgun season and a bit of that close range home defense as well as door breaching if that ever came up.
The hi point .45 carbine can be modded to use 1911 magazines.
So you could get that then down the road pick up a 1911 and share between them.

I did NOT know that. Huh. A point for the Hi Point carbine. I knew it had a healthy modding community, but not to this extent. I've heard the irons are pretty good on it, can you or anyone else confirm that?

Oh, you only have 1911 mags. Sorry, I'm illiterate.
Lol it's okay Meat. It's a long story, needless to say I've had them for years. I basically got th starter pack for a 1911, minus a holster and case, which can be easily remedied. So even though say, a RIA 1911 may be more than a shotty, I got two really good mags and a box of good starter defensive ammo, so I reckon the cost is nearly equal

Those Lehigh Defense monolithic projectiles would be the tits, that's exactly what I was thinking of. May have to get some, for science.
If you're thinking of loading them for 7.62mm Tokarev, you'll want their .311 caliber ones.
Man, I prefer 9mm and larger for pistols, but the idea of a more modern pistol for the cartridge would really let the thing shine, picture something like a Glock 17 or CZ75 style pistol chambered for the cartridge, port the barrel and slide and the high pressure cartridge would keep it very level. You're not making a compact out of it either, so might as well go full YOLO with a 20rd mag which sticks out the bottom slightly.

It looks like something is missing, like the bolt & rear half of the receiver.
I'm imagining something like the Uzi bolt, fixed firing-pin and all, if you chopped off the ass of it and left just enough for the boltface and for the thing to be structurally sound. Maybe it'd involve a delay mechanism as well, but it's kind of hard to gauge without seeing more pictures to get an idea about width and stuff.

Slam fire, I assume. Or I guess 'slap fire' would be more appropriate, in this case.

Ah 25 auto I presume. Yeah that'd work in a pen gun, but honestly, just based on pure energy, I think you'd be better with plain old 22. Still cool to see.
.25 Auto and .22LR have virtually the same ballistics, there's just not any .25 Auto rifles around to chrono from, so manufacturers can't boast with those numbers on boxes of .25 like they do with .22
.25 being centerfire, jacketed, and having a stronger crimp, makes it superior in every way but cost.

So far I've been having difficulty even finding the .308 ones, but yeah, .311 would be ideal.

That Khyberetta already looks more solid than some Kel-Tecs, although who knows how good their metallurgy is. I'd love to shoot that thing side by side with the Norinco Sig knockoff.

PCC or the cheap 1911
Marlin Camp Carbine in .45 come up for sale fairly often and is a handsome carbine for all seasons. the Hi Point carbine is well made, cheap, and rugged although magazines might be hit or miss. if you think you might have some fun hunting with a shotgun or participating in skeet/trap or something more like 3-gun a nice used Remington 870 or Mossberg 500 is a difficult thing to not recommend for the money asked. if you want something finer, consider a Benelli or Browning. automatic variations are widely available too and while typically more expensive than their manual brothers, you can find models from Beretta, Browning, Remington, and the usual import suspects (Benelli/Breda/Franchi, et c) that are pretty good quality that aren't breaking the bank. a more tactical version might be a FN SLP, which competes with Benelli models on quality and features.

Speakin of PCCs, I've seriously got my eye on that new Henry Homesteader. I don't know if I'd rather have it in the proprietary henry mags or glock though, I really dig the straight mags henry has vs the angled glock mags on the pics I've seen so far.

I've never owned one (I have an UZI) but my old man has 2 of the 9mm carbines.
They are more accurate than you think and pretty reliable even if they feel crude.
The factory sites are useable, you'll probably end up removing the rear to get the rail space for a dot.
Lots of fun to shoot with the limiting factor being the 10 round magazine.
Company called redball makes 20(?) Round mags in 9mm
And I think a 15 in .45. They are approved by hi point.
ProMag also makes higher cap mags but supposedly they will void your warranty.
The price on them keeps going up so if you really want one the sooner the better.

Sorry for the day delay guys, life got busy.

Just looked up the Camp Carbine. It's been discontinued for a while, I'd be going to gunbroker, but it does use 1911 mags so that's a plus for the ones I already have, and I could use those stupid long 15 rounders lol. Just look at it though, all that wood, absolutely sexy.

The shotgun recommendations are also good but outside my price range, it's either that RIA pump action where I can share mags with my brother, or a Mossberg Maverick at this point if I'm being honest. Italian guns are out. Even a RIA 1911 like I was talking about is going to take a ass load of time.

That's really good to know about the Hi Point carbine. I've always found it charming, good to know the sights work. Odd that a promag voids the warranty, any reason why and how would they know? (I know pro mag sucks and those redballs are pretty good but still).

I have a Mossberg Maverick. As far as I can tell, it's a discount 500. Nothing fancy, but it'll go boom when you ask it do.

Hope you don't mind plastic furniture. You can get wooden or tacticool furniture after-market.

That's basically what I've seen from all the reviews, it works well enough despite being cheap as shit, and has a decent aftermarket.

Phoned about a puppy we wanted after waiting a day for a reply to my message. He'd gone before I even saw the ad but the seller hadn't updated. Wife is crying.

I don't like this emotional roller coaster and I think I might start a petition to insist on the death penalty for people who offer false promises of puppies.
