I am fully aware of what an incredibly bad idea it would be to have this on your gun if you actually had to use it...

... but God dammit I want one.

The closest I can figure is instead of locking at the front of the mag-well they lock at the rear; replacing the standard mag release paddle with a button/lever on the receiver (just above where the original release should be).

They also have a version for their RPK, which makes a little more sense.

But not much, considering they don't even have bipods.

You finna tell me the norks trot out military hardware of questionable functionality just for propaganda purposes?

I recently found an interesting guns-n-gear channel, made by an actively-serving Ukrainian; Valgear

I braved reddit so you don't have to
KAK industry is working on a new wildcat cartridge based on the .17-223. Best results are claimed with a 15.5gr NTX bullet at 4450fps producing a .128 MOA group (18in barrel). They also have loads for 20 and 25gr bullets. 53k psi chamber pressure 1:9 twist. Claimed 500 round through test barrel with no signs of "premature wear"
Sounds good for varminters
Also, found a pic of a reddit tranny 15 KP-15 with an application of Fakelite cerakote, I advise those with a weak constitution to avert ye eyes.

I expected to find incorrect assertions about about body armor penetration and velocity in the comment thread and I was not disappointed.

Never underestimate the idiocy of redditors.

They already have Dies available, $150 and 200ct premade brass for $70

The worst part is KAK started it. Granted they have fuck all to do with body armor, but they are industry professionals. Then again this the guy at the company who wants to post on reddit. Maybe I shouldn't judge too harshly. Never got into wildcatting and probably won't now with component costs. Though, I would like own my dream carbine in a 6x45 some day.

For anyone wondering what I'm talking about, velocity is used to defeat steel body armor, not all body armor. There is a reason why when guntubers started shilling AR500 plates years ago and testing them would shoot M193 from an unstated distance or from 30-35yd, out of a short barrel from the normal 25yds, or just not shoot it at all. Depending on materials, steel vs ceramic, and thickness you can have a plate that defeats M193 and is penetrated by M855 or vice versa. The body armor rating world became shady as hell once youtubers made it cool to own. Lots of startups and rebranding plates. People making up classifications like III+ because the NIJ was antiquated. I've ranted about it off topic in a couple thread like the Tranch. I think it's gotten better as now there is the Special Threat rating, but it was fucked for a while.

Buy a reputable brand like Velocity Systems or HESCO and the most expensive ones you can afford that meet your threat needs. The cheaper they are, the heavier they'll be and your ass is going to get old some day. Spend the extra bucks on training plates if you're actually going to roll around geared up. Ceramic plates do not need to be treated like porcelain; hundreds of thousands of grunts slung their shit around like retards during the GWoT and they still worked. That being said, don't be a gorilla nigger with them.

I'm a big fan of the .17HMR cartridge, I think it makes a really nice varmint rifle. I'd be interested if someone truly perfected the .17 centerfire high-velocity cartridge. I'd buy a bull barrel upper and put a nice 12-24X50 scope on top. I'm a OK gunsmith, I've built 5-6 pistols and rifles over the years but, there is no free lunch according to the laws of physics that +4,000 FPS pill is going to wear out that barrel quick. Unless there is some new kind if stainless steel that has been perfected in the last 10 years high carbon stainless is still going to wear out. If you forge a barrel it becomes a lot tougher but a forged barrel is never going to be a match barrel, match barrels are always stainless cut-rifled.

I don't see how that speed won't cause increased barrel wear either. Physics don't care about your marketing claims. What do you like about .17HMR? I've been kicking around getting a new squirrel gun just because and was looking at Savage in that caliber.

It's just something that shows up around 4,000-4,500 FPS in cartridges, excessive barrel wear. It's not like it won't last a box of 50 rounds but, I'd say the life of the barrel is compromised.

Well I actually have a savage 93R Bull barrel in .17HMR, I really like it because it's cheap, it's flat shooting, it's got great terminal ballistics for ground squirrels, it's very quiet just about as loud as a .22 mag, (I've literally smoked ground squirrels shooting right over the heads of wild rabbits and the rabbits barely flinched, like didn't even move.), if you are in the right state a standard .22LR can will quiet it down even further, it's available everywhere, like even Walmart has it, it's not some weird wildcat that is going to go away anytime soon, zero recoil, you can watch impact happen right through the scope.

Years ago I borrowed someones Savage 93R and I liked it so much I ended up buying 2 , one .17HMR one it regular old .22LR. Barksa makes an excellent scope designed for rimfire, the elevation actually has drop per-calculated for .17/.22 projectiles even has different adjustments for the grain of the pill.

A lot of the extreme necked down calibers have throat erosion issues. 223 WSSM died because it had a barrel life of about 300-500 rds. 243 can start having accuracy issues at around 2000 and 22-250 has issues at 1000.

I don’t feel like buying a new barrel after every varmint hunt.

I used to have a Savage 93R17 BVSS (stainless bull barrel; laminated thumbhole stock) and while I liked how it shot, I hated the bullshit magazines (that were $40 each!) - I'd run the bolt back to extract and the contents of the mag would vomit up out of the action. Bend the feed lips a bit and you could get a mag or two through and then it happened all over again.

That said, it (particularly with the Hornady poly-tipped loads) was amazing on squirrels and other small pests - they basically explode when hit just from sheer velocity.

Now I just use .22LR for the same purpose though.
