They have a front sight version and a rear sight version, you only use one or the other. Which would be preferable?

The one I looked at was on the rear sight; maybe it's because my eyes are absolute garbage & my lenses are old as fuck, but it was really hard to see a discernable dot-in-circle when lined up. All I saw was either a small, irregular green dot or larger green blob.

I am a pretty big fan of these, though:

Angus King has introduced another AWB, but is now trying to be cute. "It's not a semi-auto ban, it's a 'gas-operated' ban! And you get to keep any gun you already own! Aren't we magnanimous?"

GOSAFE. Why do they always have to attach a gay acronym to it?

This is a pretty niche idea, makes sense though as G3 mags are always dirt cheap. I've never heard of "21st-Tec" though, but the $1,500 they're asking for it is insane.
Insane good or bad? For sure it's on the less expensive side of AR-10s, but it doesn't sound price-competitive compared to say a Gen 3 PSA PA10 or similar.

To me, it's not an awful idea, but PMags, ASC and ProMags are not that expensive, but definitely not as cheap as used G3 mags.

This reminds a little bit of the ASP guttersnipe sights. You all remember those? Or maybe more like the sights on the SVI Tiki. I remember reading about that pistol in the early 2000s and wishing I could afford one. I got to handle one last year and, well, it's interesting. Sorta.

If you had a lot of money to spend, Robar could have made you a "modern" version of the ASP using a S&W Shield for $2.2k but they're totally closed so you'll have to find something else to waste money on.

Look, as long as they amend it to provide a free GOSAFE Maxim Gun to every citizen I really don't have an objection. Recoil operated arms are, of course, much safer.

isn't ROBAR permanently closed?

Tactical Gear Manufacturer, London Bridge Trading Company, makers of among other things the famous and widely cloned 6094 plate carrier has been found to have defrauded the US Government. They sold some loadout bags that weren't Berry compliant and payed $2.1M.

There have apparently been a rash of reports of rusty barrel extensions on brand new Daniel Defense Rifles, there seems to be a trend regarding uppers purchased from Brownells and commenters in the reddit threads speak of other examples not featured in the thread themselves.

Saw this pretty sick Kalashnikov. Not a big AK fan personally but this one is just really fucking cool looking. Winter kits are drippy as Hell.

I like this version better than the SBL. I wish it had sights similar to the SBL, though. I bet it can fit with a rail and/or a rear peep sight. I don't like buckhorn sights.

I was, uh, seeing if you all were paying attention.

Has anyone here gotten some trigger time with an M60? It's worth the time and money if you ever get a chance, especially if you can get some trigger time on an M249 in the same session.

There must have been some hard bastards in 'Nam, carrying the 60 around in the jungle and fighting with it.

Moving on to another topic, how do you all feel about recommended barrel break-in procedures for a new precision rifle? I've personally never followed them. Currently I only run 6.5 PRC and .300 PRC precision rifles. I'm definitely a good shooter, but nowhere near the serious PRS or benchrest guys so I can't tell if the rifles would exhibit better accuracy had I followed recommendations. I also only ever clean my chambers, the breechface, and the bolt raceways on those rifles.

Anyone have thoughts on fixed sights by scalarworks?
I run two pairs. Absolutely worth the price, even better if you're somehow getting them for reduced price. I run exclusively Scalarworks mounts for RDS and magnified optics now because all their stuff has been that good in my experience.

i bet they were. i really only did training with the M60 "pig", and was on an M60D on some light vehicles sometimes. i put hands on an M60E3 for a couple of months in the sandbox and it was great, the E4 even better, but it wasn't super common outside of some Navy groups i worked with. there's a few improvements on top of that as well iirc. the M240B more or less replaced the M60 everywhere after the 80's.

My grandfather was in Vietnam and told me once that they'd fire the M60 door guns on their helicopters so much on each mission that'd the barrels would be ruined by the time they got back to base. He doesn't talk much about his time over there but he will tell stories about the guns he used.

When he enlisted he was issued a M1 Carbine (Or Garand, all he can remember is that it was a M1), then eventually got a M14. When he got issued a M16 he didn't like it as much as the M14. too light he says. As far as he can remember he used it more like a machine gun than a rifle.

The agent orange was on everything. it was in their drinking water, their bath water, their food. everything. it gave him cancer. he had to sue the bastards at DOD to pay for the treatment. luckily he won and got a settlement. free treatment forever, ~50 years of backpay, 100% VA disability plus the initial monetary settlement. they gave him some sort of experimental infusion that killed the cancer. he was cancer free within 3 months of his initial treatment. they removed a kidney to be sure but that stuff was magical. but from what i've heard from other vets that had side-effects he was one of the lucky ones. They should have been in MOPP gear around that shit.

My favorite slav guntuber finally got himself an AK-12:
Interesting, I didn't know the AK-12 trigger group with 2-round burst can be swapped into an AK-74.....

He can Pepper his Angus, because my response is "go fuck yourself."

My gas-operated rifle hasn't killed anyone or even so much as been aimed at anyone.
I like these. my main oppisition to red dots is entirely based on the fact that they are ugly as shit. plus my astigmatism.
Try a green dot, like a Holosun 407K-GR. I love it, it makes shooting a handgun so much easier and fun.
