@HumptiDouji can't quote you but thanks so much for the 6.5 and over all Carcano info. as much as I love me my mil surp I am not an expert in reloading and many have forgotten 10x what I know. So I am always happy to be humble and learn.

Wild story about JFKs ammo. the Greek milsurp ammo I have is basic bitch 30-06 thar my m1 likes pretty darn well but, sure recoils hard.

Anyone knows who makes a decent quad flap placard? Looking for something like that T-Rex Arms quad flap chest rig, but just the placard. Ideally in ATACS iX, but that may be a tall order.

Velocity systems and SKD both do. there are a lot out there since it's not that much of a reach over the three magazine models.

Thanks, I'll check out SKD too. I was looking at the Velocity Systems Quad 5.56 placard, but only found the open top one so far.

Ideally it would be something like the OPS triple mag panel, but quad.

Anyone else running a muzzle brake on a short (or less than 16") AR? I've had two laying around in my parts bin, an Epsilon and a Gamma, for months and put them on a 16" and a 10.5". Then took them out to the range this past weekend and holy fuck is the 10.5" loud now. Like I expected it to be loud, but not shake your shirt loud. My buddy said it's almost unbearable to be around, but the reduced recoil really has me contemplating leaving it on. It just feels so flat now compared to the birdcage.

I didn't know where to post this and I thought it might be of some mild interest.
I found in a thrift shop yesterday.
Published in 1948 by the US Government Printing Office (now Publishing Office) with foreword by Truman. It has the original typed letter regarding it's distribution as well as more recent newspaper clippings of some of the recipients and some other bits and pieces.

Do you want only the placard? Dino Boy sells a quad flap chest rig, but it's a whole chest rig.
One of my friends had a 9" that came with a brake. It was louder than my SCAR 17 with the stock brake. If you were to either side of him, you could feel it in your chest. It would throw fireballs you could see in the daytime, too.
The Mk18s felt like they singed my eyebrows with their fireball so I can only imagine what this thing is like.

It's not a poll but I would like feedback from you all: for a double barrel 12 gauge shotgun used to hunt birds, over/under or side by side?

Personal preference but I find it is easier with over under. YMMV

I vote for over/under for the sheer class it extrudes. You'll be pickin' fudds for miles each time you bring it to the range

Yeah, just the placard. Although I think I just found one, whiskey two four makes it.

Speaking of shorties and fireballs, you guys see that video of the guy in Canada that was running a full auto super shorty? Shit looked like it was blowing magnesium dust out of the barrel.

No idea on what the gun is. Canadian friends have hypothesized it might be one of the AR-47s since the mag has so much curvature and it's easier to get apparently. Illegal auto conversion is also much easier on an AR style platform.

Another day of gun control at work. I suspect you are right on the AR-47 theory. 7.62x39mm is cheap here (cheaper than 5.56x45mm) and the blueprints for the AR-47 are easily available.

I had a 7.5 AR pistol in 7.62x39 that I never could get to feed right and finally took apart, but it had a Q cherry bomb brake on it. That thing cleared my sinuses and made my eyes water while shooting it. It was obnoxiously fun and almost completely impractical.

I've heard that wadcutter loads out of a snubbie are more effective fight stoppers than one may think. I imagine that like anything one must do their part regarding shot placement.
I started the switch to semi-wadcutters a long time ago, after I'd heard of it as a teenager from an old-timer with a lot of duty wheelgun service. He was quite adamant about using wadcutters & I learned a lot from him, so after being given my first .38 revolver I did my own makeshift meat-target testing using standard JHP, lead round nose, and semi-wadcutters.

Even without the benefit of video, slow motion pictures, calibrated gel blocks, or a large selection of ammo, I still found standard pressure SWCs consistently penetrated & did more damage than basic bitch JHP. Since then I've had to opportunity to do actual gel-block testing, which replicated my earlier experience.

Things started to change when bumping up to +P and with better hollow points; but hard cast/alloy designs start to claw back performance as power increases, so it's not enough for me to make the swap back to (expensive) JHPs. And besides that, I still use semi-wadcutters in memory of my friend & every time I load one it reminds me of him.
RIP Lenny.

Velocity Systems Quad 5.56 placard, but only found the open top one so far
seems you found one, most placards i know just run three and hang either another three on the front (rare) or use it for admin, with a double on the weak side. another option is to old school it and get a molle adapter placard (easy) and use some eagle or HSGI or something singles to build the placard you want. SPEAR might offer something slimmer profile than MOLLE/PALS, but MOLLE/PALS has a lot of options on the market already.

the MBAV being referred to as "old" really gets me these days, even the Mayflower is pushing it.

I have a single pistol permit left to use, I'm tempted to get either a Jericho or a compact PDP, anyone else have recommendations?
Do you want one for carry? If so I can recommend the S&W M&P 2.0 compact. I've heard a lot of good things about that Walther for carry too.

I like the Jericho but I'd think if you're going to go for that getting a CZ 75 would be better from the perspective of aftermarket support available. Please post about what you get after you've had some time with it.
