We're quickly realizing that we're gonna be limited to walther, walther clones like the bersas, or cheetahs, or cheetah clones like the taurus. We may end up going with M&P or S&W in the end, as long as it has an external hammer and safety. We asked the LGS to see if they can get their hands on a bersa so she can try the fit and feel. If that don't swing, there are a couple used kimber micros and sig micros that don't break the bank they have she likes.
I'm fairly surprised your LGS doesn't have a Bersa on hand. I can't think of many I've ever been into who didn't (along with those SCCY doodads); even with guys who were barely beyond tabletop dealing. It's like one of those things that I've come to expect walking into any place that sells guns, that there will be at least one Bersa Thunder.380 on the shelf.

But if she's into the Bersa, I'd just suggest saving up/waiting a little more for a Walther.... although with .380ish pistols my dark-horse choice will always be a Makarov, CZ, or P-64.

And the Taurus Spectrum isn't that bad, either.

I need 2 guns. One is going to be a AR-15 in 5.56. The other is going to be for killing deer. LEGALLY. I live in cuck state and need straight wall cartridges bigger than .35. Logically a .350 legend Ruger American, but my balls want a 45-70 Gov. Any other calibers I should consider or other input?

Maverick, do I need to get the 6.5" or 7.75" action tube
Maverick 88 will depend on the exact model. the typical fore-end assembly with slide action tube assembly (retaining spring, tube (dimpled is early, smooth is late), action bars, is 7-5/8" long (7-3/4" is typical for pre-1973 Mossbergs, or the 835 with modified retaining ring) with pinned or leaf-spring retained action bars:

if you have the "short barrel" variation used as standard on all Mossberg 500's and Maverick 88's since 1993 for all gauges except .410 and 20 ga, this is the 6-3/4" tube with action bars not pinned, but uses a leaf-spring just like a shortened standard tube from above (example below to show tube length) a Maverick from this time period might only have one action bar instead of two:

if you have a Maverick 88 produced since 2005, it probably (not always) has a one-piece polymer fore-end with pinned action bars (and no separate tube or retaining ring) you can replace with the standard Mossberg 500 7-5/8" fore-end.

if

mossberg 7-5/8" slide action tube assembly is part number: 11603BL
mossberg 7-5/8" action tube nut is part number: 3408
mossberg 6-3/4" slide action tube assembly is part number: 12362BL
mossberg 6-3/4" action tube nut is part number: 13488
You'll need the 7.75 in action tube assembly but good luck on finding one, last time I checked they've been out of stock everywhere except ebay at ridiculous prices.
hogue 05020 is an adapter nut for the 6-3/4" slide action tube that allows it to take 7-5/8" fore-ends.

.444 Marlin or .44 Remington Magnum in a lever action is a pretty fun deer gun and a good backpacker if you like slim and light without needing separate mags. very chic, very classic.

.45-70 may likely not be allowed because of autistic reasons on their part, so I would strongly suggest .450 Bushmaster for similar, if not superior performance off the shelf.

Banning 45-70 is autistic on so many levels. It's a lever gun round, a stout one at that. Power wise it's good for any animal in North America, and even African game. Can't really say its inhumane.

Options for available ammo are generally .350 legend, .360 Buckhammer, .400 legend, .450 bushmaster, and 45-70.

.350 is light recoiling and will take deer out to about 150yds. Winchester claims 200yds but the drop gets pretty extreme. Also it will fit in an AR-15 platform with just a barrel and mag change. The head dimensions are the same as .223/5.56 allowing you to use a standard AR bolt. I have an AR-15 in .350 I use as a ranch gun as we get everything from possum to hog harassing us.

.360 Buckhammer was Remington’s answer to .350 legend. Slightly heavier bullet weights but rimmed cartridge limits use to lever guns.

.400 legend came out from Winchester last year and sits between .350 legend and .450 bushmaster. Can be used on deer out to 200yds and has been getting a lot of notice from hog hunters. Can fit in an AR-15 and uses 6.8 SPC head dimensions for larger bolt selection.

.450 Bushmaster is a thumper of a cartridge but can be used to take bigger game like elk.

45-70 can take just about all NA game however the rim limits its use.

How are the Palmetto AK’s? I’ve sparingly used AK’s ever and their pricing isn’t outrageous.

Other thah that. What’s a good revolver to get? One of my sisters wants to try to get a guns and wants me to take her shooting. Taurus seems to dominate the stores near me and I’m tempted to look on Gunbroker because of how shit they look.

A lot of guntubers have done videos on them and everything past Gen 3 is kind of OK, biggest issues seem to be you're rolling the dice with either a good one or a lemon and they all tend to display premature wear at higher round counts.

357 magnum is also a good option if you are taking shots within 70 yards. Plenty of people have taken deer ethically with revolvers with 6 inch barrels. A 16"+ barrel will give more than adequate ballistics.

If you reload you have one of the most versatile and common rimmed cartridge. Can load them down to take small game or just pinking. Load them up for hunting deer or self defense. 357 isn't going to put hair on your chest like a 360 buckhammer or 45/70 though.

350 legend decided to go the retard route and not use .223 as a parent case and not use .357 diameter bullets and instead uses .355 diameter bullets. Both of which makes no sense, they should have just copied the wildcat 357AR/357 Max-Rimless and it would have been an even better cartridge. It's still a great round, but Winchester just wanted to make more money by selling their one off brass and their own projectiles which weren't existent at the time.

Many thanks.

Any thoughts on CA SB 1160?
might not pass even casual review, but i anticipate a lot of non-compliance as well as a harder line drawn between compliers and non-compliers. this would be difficult to enforce without additional regulatory framework because either enforcement is just getting lucky with additional charges on arrest, someone in plain view where there's probable cause to inspect on demand (which isn't in the actual bill text), or a program would be developed where letters are mailed out to people that have a DROS transfer in the system but haven't been included for that year's registration database, similar to a driver's license renewal or car registration notice.

sporadic issues with PSA AK's, your mileage may vary.

a used k-frame is pretty cheap and reliable, a Model 10, 15, 60, 66 or something along those lines, if you're feeling stout, a model 19. they're not expensive and are quality pieces. Colt got out of the DA revolver business a while back other than specific models and they all carry a premium now. some Taurus revolvers can be okay, older Rossi revolvers were functionally S&W clones with some minor changes and can be viable (model 877 comes to mind, but not for a regular diet of .357 magnum).

.45-70 with the right load and the right bullet can take any game on planet earth. if you ever intend on reloading i'd go .45-70 it has 151 years worth of aftermarket support.

Some jurisdictions restrict cartridge length, and I recall at some point in time that it was falsely considered necked due to the crimp and slight taper of the brass.
Either way, if he's going with an AR-15 he could always get a .450 Bushmaster upper for cheaper than another gun.
