in order of escalation:Does anyone have experience with this? The leftmost screw on this optics plate is so tight I’m starting to strip it when I try to loosen it. How can I get this thing off?

j-frame with shrouded hammer. both .38 and .357 will work, .357 in a k-frame is "better" - an example being the model 649, and you can always "download" with .38 spl +p like HSTs or Cor-Bon or something. although if you pick an airweight (any lightweight body) then it could be difficult to shoot if you are new.Fellow Kiwis, I plan on going backpacking through my local state forest but I need a recommendation for something to concealed carry. The woods here are relatively safe but it's not unheard of to discover murder victims or encounter drugged up vagrants so I was thinking of getting a small revolver. Never shot 38 or 357 so I'm not sure which is a better self-defense round and what models are comfortable enough to carry loose in a pant or jacket pocket. I see a Rock Island Armory M206 in 38 and a Taurus 605 in 357, both pretty cheap but they could be pieces of shit for all I know. I'm new to carrying in general and I don't want to bring my bigass G17, any info would help
Don't carry loose, even if you don't care about safety it could get lost. Even with zippers, guns are pretty heavy and could break the zipper, but probably less likely if it's a truly small revolver. Also, you draw time's going to be horrible. If you already have a Glock, could you spend money on a good holster for it?Fellow Kiwis, I plan on going backpacking through my local state forest but I need a recommendation for something to concealed carry. They are, a very close second in protection to an active muff type but a shit ton more comfortable to wear for 8+ hours. For that much they had better be fucking amazing.
Couldn't agree more. The last weapon I bought from a local dealer was because they happened to have something I'd wanted for a good bit and it was priced competitively with online retailers.Online 99% of the time. Better deals, less bullshit, most gun stores are run by some greedy/retarded SOBs
If you have the budget for it check out Gunfighters Inc. Kenai holster. See if that might be an alternative to consider.I'm new to carrying in general and I don't want to bring my bigass G17, any info would help
What, you mean their "sales" with 10% discount after a 20% markup over MSRP isn't a bargain? Ya gotta support your brick and mortars, sonny!Yeah, 99% of the time, fuck retail stores. My LGS is insane with their price gouging. Never seen them actually sell anything. It's pretty evident that they don't, because they recently had the audacity to increase FFL transfers from $10 to $30 per item (not including NFA items, those cost even more.) I'm not paying $30 per transfer so I drive out even further now to do my transfers.
For the money you could spend on either of those revolvers, you could get a used J frame, a nice one. 38 special is proven, especially with such loads like the FBI load, and many new ones that come out yearly at this point. A used J frame will also be lighter, so far easier to carry if you go the revolver route.Fellow Kiwis, I plan on going backpacking through my local state forest but I need a recommendation for something to concealed carry. The indoor range I go to noticed how much 9mm I burn through. So they offered me a "deep discount" if I bought ammo from them in bulk. They waned 399.99 plus tax for 1000rnds. They were displeased when I told them I get 1000rnds of 9mm for 240$ shipped to my door. What, you mean their "sales" with 10% discount after a 20% markup over MSRP isn't a bargain? wtf, i sell GD's for $400/1k. 115gr FMJ target loads should be half that for plinking stuff if it's bulk ammo. The indoor range I go to noticed how much 9mm I burn through. For camping I just do fanny pack carry and always have the fanny pack on me at all times. Slower on the draw with a proper holster but with hiking it’s out of the way but reachable and comfortable without giving me any hot spots. Not like I have to worry about brigands suddenly showing up and demanding my goods but it’s always there and always with me if needed.Fellow Kiwis, I plan on going backpacking through my local state forest but I need a recommendation for something to concealed carry.
Bro I'm fucking jealous, EVERYWHERE in my state is $40 no matter what. I'm so spiteful about that shit that I make it a point to print, 80%, or machine all my shit and tell everyone I know to do so. No way I'm paying some spook 25% of the value of a gun just to spend a couple minutes at a computer. They also tried to sell me a Savage 64SR for like $450, and it wasn't even the one with the fancy stock.Yeah, 99% of the time, fuck retail stores. My LGS is insane with their price gouging. I'd carry the G17 in a shoulder holster as said above. If you're familiar with the gun, it's worth the inconvenience. Or get a larger fanny pack and carry the G17 in it on your chest crossbody, like some of the urban youths are known to do nowadays.Fellow Kiwis, I plan on going backpacking through my local state forest but I need a recommendation for something to concealed carry.
