Getting into the mechanics of this, polymer pistols are notorious for this as they don't have the mass to absorb recoil, relying on the shooter to do that. Limp wristing makes it fail to extract or feed properly.
Second this. I have trained all my family members on my full size Jericho and they never had an issue with FTF or jams. Hot ammo, wimpy ammo, don't matter. And these were brand new, never held a pistol, doing the one hand and wrist hold Barney Fife grips till I showed them how to not shoot like a fool.
I have the Mantis Pink Rhino, it's been excellent so far. I also have a hammer fired DA/SA pistol so I can get away with the cartridge only
I understand why you might think the rifle should be the first pickup. It makes sense. Odds are, you will never have to fire a weapon in self defense. Odds are, you won't even be involved in a situation where you need a gun to draw at all. But if you beat those odds, it will not be while you are home. It will be while you are out and about. And the old adage that a pistol on your hip is better than the tactical nuke at home is still true. Get a pistol first. A pistol is insurance that you will have on you at all times, even at home, I'm no more than a couple feet from one of mine. Same for the wife.

It doesn't help that polymer frames actually under recoil. It helps take some of the edge off, but demands a better grip from the shooter.

Yes but then you have to rack the slide every time. I’m not worried about breaking my gun from dry fire, I’m wanting to train multiple trigger pulls without racking the slide every time. It’s not the trigger weight that makes the gun move, it’s the act of moving the trigger

Wouldn't recommend anybody new to rifles put together a rifle, especially one that they aren't familiar with yet. Better to start with a full rifle and learn to disassemble, especially when it involves something that literally explodes a few inches from your face.
That is overpriced buy about 200$ and Credova is straight up usary.
The bigger thing is I can keep pulling the trigger DA without having to rack the slide for every shot. I have snap caps for if I want to dry fire only, but the laser showing me where my aim went (and how much it smears if I am not careful with my trigger pull) has been invaluable. My brother fired my pistol and said "I can't hit anything with it" and it's because he's used to a smooth glass-break polymer trigger whereas even in SA my trigger takes enough force that if you aren't aware of it, it pulls down and to the left. We thought the sights were off, but nope. Just operator error!
