Mega Rad Gun Thread

Get the “Magpul backpacker stock”, like @Badungus Kabungus mentioned! I bought that exact model (ie: not the model with the keymod hand guard) and I recently bought and installed the Backpacker stock. It’s really neat to have and use for compact storage as a “truck gun”, but also just to put it in a smaller bag for transport to the range. The fact that the backpacker stock can also store a 21rd magazine under the cheek riser is great. The Ruger PCC can take Glock 19 magazines too, so if you have a Glock 19 then you can use one type of mag and one caliber for two guns, which is really neat.
After looking at it I'm actually seriously considering one of these. Maybe not as a substitute for the Scorpion, but to replace my old piece of shit AR-7.

I would imagine the terminal ballistics are underwhelming.
depends on how far away "terminal" is. rat and snake shot are awful beyond a half dozen meters, but decent inside of that. if you mean the sub-nothing barrel on the model 29, if it's mostly shooting shot inside of a tunnel, it'll do alright within a few meters which is probably all you need. not like someone would be using hollow points or something with it. wadcutters maybe.

So, Sig (the non-American one) has decided that they wanted to modernize the 55X Series guns. My only question is why the fuck would you do that, they have never had a major military contract for them, the contracts that they did get were for LE agencies (and that was some time ago), there are numerous options that are just flat out better. They've added so much MCX (and by extension, AR) DNA that you're just flat out better off buying an MCX (or better yet, an AR). The only conceivable "feature" (if you can even call it that) that either an AR or MCX lacks compared to this is the ability to use 550 series mags, not that you would ever want to. This is like Beretta bringing back the AR-70
Is it still the long stroke piston system? Even if it is, there's other external piston rifles that I'm certain would be better and likely less expensive.

I'm not a fan of the 5.56 AK, but I'd take a good Sig 551-A1 any day of the week.

You and I both know that wadcutters out of a Model 29 with a 2-3" barrel would fuck someone up in close, even at rather low velocities.

The rounds look smaller than 410 gauge and the projectiles look less than 17 caliber.

I would prefer a 1911 over that.

maybe, but fumbling with moon clips or mags wouldn't be my choice. if i could have squirrel nut crusher gear i'd take an ithaca 37 stakeout. 1960's and very mean in tight spaces.

when it was more spacious tunnels i did some work in, it was metro tunnels under Baghdad as well as Mosul. Mosul especially was such a shit show with that. came back stateside and helped set up new tunnel fighting MOUT courses before deploying again. lessons learned, et c. tunnel fighting is some tough shit and very disorientating and deceptively long range depending on the construction you're encountering, not to mention possibly unstable, unsafe, or plain unmapped/unexplored areas.

do not recommend.

They had plenty of shotguns in Vietnam. The problem with Tunnel Rat duty is that you're often in too tight a space for an Ithaca 37 or other pump action, even one cut down as small as it possibly could be. You don't have the room to maneuver it or work the pump. You're squished down basically into a ball, duck walking, or you're crawling on your belly. You've got just enough room for a pistol and a handheld flashlight, and that's it. There are stories of Tunnel Rats who were in such tight quarters that even a 1911 was too big. That's why they went with a revolver that fired shot shells instead of a normal bullet, because then aiming wasn't as critical. Not to mention that it wasn't just VC Gooks they had to worry about, but also highly venomous snakes that the VCs would set out as traps.

Stories of Tunnel Rats make me thank god I'm as young as I am as a short king. Shit is pure nightmare fuel. Probably one of the scariest jobs in war, EVER. Mining and that was always awful and scary but, you had to deal with the threat of a counter mine... oh well you hit a stick of dynmite and cease to be... VC fucking dropped a box of live pissed of scorpions on you. You didn't die...instantly.

FUCK.

And the guys who got pegged for Tunnel Rat duty were always the most short-ass of short-asses they could find, because the people building those tunnels were malnourished, poorly fed Vietnamese peasants living in a Communist regime.

I'm not a fan of the 5.56 AK,
SBR and folding stock ahem.
Nigger the question stops at FAL. What you meant to ask was 'Where can I find parts and accessories for a FAL and also some short shorts in Rhodesian stripe?'
I forgot to mention they're all parts kits with receiver except a whole AR-10.

FAL is a L1A1 of some sort, either a C1A1 or a Aussie with an imbel reciever.
G3 is a Portugese kit, VG condition all matching numbers.
AR-10 is a assembled model with an Impact Guns gas piston.
Too bad his legal MGs aren''t for sale and I can't afford it.
Gentlemen, I regret to inform you due to poor life choices, I am now a proud owner of a a South African metric FAL parts kit with what appears to be a "Sanitized" (scrubbed) rhodesian bolt...
Somewhere in hell I hear dead commies screeching.

If you could bring one discontinued firearm back into production what would it be? Mine would be the HK P7M13.

We talking prototypes as well? If so then AO-63 (Twin barreled AK with 6000 rpm). If not then Wieger StG-944. SAW version of the 940 with bipod and heavy barrel, used by DDR Wachregiment "Feliks E. Dzierzynski"(Stasi).

Communists don't go to Hell because they aren't people.
South Carolina is the next best thing. Turns out I got a later production R1. It's marked with a (P) for Pretoria. Previous owner put a new carry handle on it.
