i just don't see these being worth the price. the helical mags are asking for trouble.
3500 is pretty steep in my opinion, I will need to see the performance of it before I would even consider buying it. Stuff and things "stizon" is much more affordable with a nak9 but even they have had issues. Mostly regarding feeding where the bullets get caught on the ramp, shortening their mag catch can fix it but it can still happen. Very annoying issue because most of the time the bullet wont come out and you have to take the mag out and wind it so you can insert it without the bolt being open or iraqi reload it. Which with the mags ergonomics either option is unpleasant really. If I were to pay $3500 it better work way better than the $900 option.
It's also light/made with some titanium parts, that's lots of $$$ and B&T doesn't do enough scale to drive the price down. Still too rich for my tastes, but I don't think it's outrageous.
I'm sure there are people out there who will find the titanium handguard appealing (V Seven stays in business), but it sounds like it's not much lighter than a Geissele MK16 handguard. That said, it seems like it won't be much more expensive than a MK16's retail price.
For B&T they already charge a large premium for their rifles anywhere from 1.8k - 2.8k for a lot of their skus across their flagships. I can't really argue the raw value proposition being there, because it's not. There's a ton of competition in the market even at the higher end, but for B&T nerds, they won't sneeze at 3.2k msrp. As you said though, KAC is in line with that $, HK is inline with that $ and there's seemingly as good offerings cheaper for B&T's ar15. If their bolt is just a G$ REBCG and not some new secret swiss sauce, then ya just buy their $400 handguard to slap on a superduty and call it a B&T. B&T fans will still pay the markup, however.
If I had to guess, the BCG (or at least the bolt) is from Geissele. Their bolts really are very tough. I have 2 of them. I chatted with a guy who has over 60k rounds on one and he says it's still going strong, so maybe the B&T guy's claim of 140k rounds isn't too much of an exaggeration. I wonder if there's any public info on Geissele stress testing their bolts?

yeah i don't get it. I can see a use for titanium barrels, which are already starting to appear on high end hunting shotguns or in use for small parts that need durability but a handguard? its a meme.
