Changing gears to the modern guns,

The Henry Supreme doesn't offend me as much as it should. I kinda like it.

I have been made aware of another enhanced/upgraded Bolt/BCG offering, this time from a company called Leitner-Wise. They make some pretty big claims. The System is composed of their "Long Advance Bolt-Expanding Gas System" Bolt Carrier and "Combat Match Bolt" with proprietary enhanced Combat Match extractor. The Bolt Carrier's claim to fame is it's delayed unlocking achieved via altered campath geometry. They also claim that apparently most AR's made throughout history are actually improperly made as they say that their bolts only rotate 20.7 degrees instead of the proper 22 (like theirs does)
The Combat Match Bolt boasts enhanced bolt lugs and the previously mentioned proprietary and strengthened extractor. The Bolt is compatible with standard barrel extensions

Just wait until they shoot a "real" SVD

I know it's bait, but both the PSL and the M76 are merely upscaled Kalashnikovs and by design they are inferior to the Drag. I'm a fairly terrible shot but between the three, in my personal experience, the Dragunov is the superior platform. What's even the point of buying a Dragunov look-alike if you get inferior performance? Even here they throw PSL at you trying to fuck people over with the "Romanian Dragunov" nonsense. Same story with Yugo "RPK variants", they aren't real RPKs.

I'd almost buy Chinese instead.

O Wise One I come seeking knowledge
How doe Excise taxes on firearm production work? You see, I've heard for years that you should never buy a complete assembled AR and always buy Uppers and Lowers seperately to somehow beat the excise tax, but Isn't the tax already paid by the manufacturer the second the aluminum hunk reaches the stage of completion where ATF considers it to be a firearm?

Best part is that since it's 30mm it is not a destructive device.
Yes it is, anything over 12.7mm (.50) in diameter is considered a DD unless otherwise given a sporting use exemption by the Attorney General.

man is there a way you can deter possums without having to shoot them? i'm just some random prick online and you've got a coop to keep, it is what it is, but the animal rehabilitation i help out with fucks me up enough to not want them hurt.
I think I know what you mean. I have helped friends deal with predators or other harmful pests (coyotes, wild pigs) twice in the past. I didn't like killing the animals but after seeing how much they can fuck up a farm, I knew why it had to be done. That said, I never again volunteered to help with such things.
bright fucking lights that come on at them suddenly. they avoid those like the plague, but can get used to ones that are always on. strobes dazzle them easily as well as cause mild pain if exposed for more than a few seconds.
So...flash bang them?

Could be the fudd in me, but I don't like box-magazine-fed lever guns. I think the Ruger American Ranch rifles do a better job of filling the niche these are trying for.

Paul Leitner-Wise definitely knows ARs as well as anyone ever could. Does one need his $400 BCG, which no doubt does all he says it does? Doubtful. I've personally either not worried about cam pin wear grooves on the inside of the upper, or I've replaced the cam pin with a POF roller cam pin when I could easily do so.

I feel Henry's box-fed rifles barely count as lever action with the rack and pinion setup they have, and I assume the Supreme is more or less the same. Ruger definitely has them beat on price and machining quality though, no arguments there.

you don't. licensed dealers and manufacturers, importers, and in some states ammunition vendors and firearm retailers must pay an excise tax annually that's an amount based on gross receipts for the goods that fall under the eligible category. end users typically don't pay any excise taxes because they are not "in the business" of any of those. on a technical level, the manufacturer is due to pay tax the quarter or year when an eligible item is produced from raw materials. i pay it yearly based on gross receipts for example, but in my COGS calculation for pricing, i charge the customer an additional percent to cover that cost, presented as built into the price of the firearm prior to transfer.

"firearms" in and of themselves (the lower or frame or whatever the serialized part is) is what is taxed. buying the parts separately has no special meaning. i assume a $39.99 blem PSA lower has a very small tax built into the price, or the manufacturer or retailer or distributor is eating the tax cost elsewhere in the supply chain. it might be more valuable for them to pay the tax on their books just to clear inventory space, et c.

that being said, there was an uproar a year or so ago since CA imposes an 11% excise tax on the retail buyer which is pretty unique among states - New York is considering it for example and Colorado also recently approved a 6.5% excise tax.

So...flash bang them?
sure, but that's a one and done. motion activated strobes that are pointed at them over a period of time keeps most away. you can also use ammonia if you're out in the fields since very strong odors can work too.

My brain enjoys creating the most unhinged, but consistent gun logic in my nightmares.

I was being hunted by an axe murderer, who after driving the wrong way in traffic at night, and crashing into my car decided that they would chase me down on foot. I drive all the way back in a damaged car to I guess what was my house, and lock myself in a storage closet. In the closet there are the most insane looking firearms that would make even the Californian government blush. They are deformed in every way possible, Like something you'd see in a Gunbroker listing.

They are also all in fucking clamshell packaging. Desperately I try to open one, it looks like a S&W 686 except the cylinder is 10x the size with extra, uneven holes for no reason. After ripping open the package what I think is ammo falls out the back. I try to put the rounds in where they will actually be chambered, and realize that they are .357-shaped batteries. I fire one off and it just explodes in the barrel, leaving corrosive battery goop everywhere.

On the shelves are more firearms. I open the next one. It's identical to a Taurus G2C but has plastic extrusions that go out about 6 inches horziontally in the middle of the grip making it impossible to hold. This time, the package comes with 9mm shaped batteries. Great.

Lined along the shelves are containers that seem to have real cartridges and cartridge shapped batteries that are both in brass casings, and indistinguishable except for small + and - markings. I eventually sort through and find actual 9mm rounds. Then there is pounding on the door.

Next is finding the magazine. There are hundreds scattered about on the shelves Frantically I search for one and find one that fits. I find one, but you have to put the rounds in *vertically*. It's a full sized magazine that holds one round.

At this point I put the one round in, put the magazine in, and try to fire it through the door. Nothing happens. The pounding at the door is getting louder. I eject the magazine, and lock the slide back but the round is stuck inside the magazine. I try to claw it out with my fingers. Just as I get it out, out the hinges on the door snap. This motherfucker has a bowie knife in their hand and instantly tries to slash me with it. I fall to the floor, and jam the one round i have into the chamber, Put the slide forward, 200 lb trigger pull, and of course it completely misses flying way the fuck off into the wall. That's where I wake up.

Anyone else have dreams with retarded gun logic?

Whispers on the wind say that Tommy of TommybuiltUSA sold all of his gun designs to some other company. He allegedly got dropped by his supplier(s?) and I'd be willing to believe it was over the T7 fiasco.

Machine-pistol Makarov:

The prototype of the Konovalov submachine gun was created in 1998. The well-known Makarov pistol served as its base.

Thanks to the improved design, the bolt moves a certain distance and grabs a cartridge for firing. It is picked up by the second inertial element, moves further and drives the cartridge into the breech of the barrel. Separating the bolt significantly reduced the recoil of the weapon and improved the accuracy of the bullet hitting the target. The rate of fire of the new model is 950-960 rounds per minute. The weight of the weapon is optimal - 1020 grams. The width of the submachine gun is 35 cm, the length is 16.15 cm. The designer increased the height to 146.75 millimeters. Initially, it was supposed to create a model measuring 230 mm.

Then it would be less rapid-fire and would fire 700 shots per minute.

It least Henry is offering this with an 18" barrel. Americans in 5.56 only come in 16" for some dumb reason.

"We're doing something really RADICAL this year, guys!"
• model released 10 years ago now with MLOK rail and a QD slot right next to the magazine release
• red dot with 5 minutes of extra battery life for double the cost
• yet another 1-6 LPVO
• AR-15 with secret sauce
• actually good thing but is never produced at all ever looking at you, Kel-Tec M43
• clone vaguely similar to unobtanium gun but is actually completely different

Only interesting thing I saw was Holosun's IRIS LAM, but that was teased last year too.

I'm sure it's a nice BCG, but I find it very difficult to justify spending more than $300 on a BCG. Griffin Armament released their new "Enhanced Gas Pocket BCG" which looks like it has some interesting upgrades, but at $430, I'll pass.
