Speaking of C96s, I'm surprised no one's ever, at least to my knowledge, used that form factor for a magnum cartridge. One of the big limiting factors with magnum handgun cartridges is just being able to get your hand around the grip. With the magwell and grip separate, you could put basically anything in it. It'd be wildly impractical for anything but maybe hunting, but the Desert Eagle sells pretty well, despite being one of the dumbest handguns ever conceived.

Aren't C96s short-recoil? The Desert Eagle's gas system might work, or you could go more cursed and make it roller-delayed or flapper locked.
Fine, I forgot short recoil works up to 10mm. I haven't studied other action types enough to make any assumptions about their functionality.

Cyberpunk 2077 had a lot of stupid guns but the Malorian arms 3516 works exactly how you describe. seems fairly realistic too in that it's probably possible for this gun to actually work. in game its a 14mm.

At least you didn't suggest a gun from a Bethesda title...

A technical milestone may have been achieved (in at least a limited capacity). The first DIY (pseudo) delayed blowback system.
Below is a MAC bolt based DIY PCC that incorporates a detent based delaying system designed by dev DanishBulldog.
Essentially there are two set screws with integrated ball detents that sit rearwards of the bolt, rearward movement is slightly retarded (heh) by the force neccessary to depress the detents. Nexus firearms uses a similar system for a Scorpion upper they sell
He has dubbed it "The Holdup"

A 95 year old Korean war vet gave my wife an Enbloc clip to give to me he had from his service. She was telling him about my Garand. Next time she sees him I want to give him a cricket clicker to annoy the shit out of the people in the old folks home with. I know that's more of a WW2 thing but it sounds like he'd love it. I got one from the WW2 museum in NOLA.

380 Beretta 80s series
the old school carry mod for this was swapping the safety (or modifying the existing one) for a flat serrated version instead of the thumb ledge. likewise a stiffer detente spring that applies more resistance to movement is sometimes used on older pistols with this sort of issue.

Watching some Paul Harrell videos tonight I saved on a USB drive (having to use a mobile hotspot to post this as my router broke)... has he ever said the word "uh" in any of his videos? Maybe that's a hyperbole but I swear he was one of the most articulate gun people on YouTube (and honestly people in general) I've ever seen.

I would love a c96 in .357 or 30carb

Are there any single-stack 9x19mm pistols (that aren't mainly intended as concealed carry pocket pistols)? I'm in this weird middle area where bigger calibers would kick more than I'd like and I think Glocks/Berettas are intended for bigger hands than mine.
The G48 is legit and you can actually get 15 round mags for it. Lightening the trigger and a red dot make it awesome. SIG 210 is also good but pretty big for its capacity and they're expensive and rare. Generally, anything newer that takes STEEL mags will have a decent enough grip, Canik feeling the best out of like 50 handguns I handled yesterday, not far ahead of the G48.

Also, the Q guns feel fucking sick and look awesome irl, next AR is probably gonna be a sugar weasel..........

The 210 Carry looks pretty good and is reasonably priced.

Q has great ideas, I love the look and concept of The Fix but I've been seeing a lot of negative reviews and videos of fuckups. The Fix has the same problem as the Sig Cross in that they can't shoot worth a damn and their small ARs struggle to cycle.
With the amount of skepticism out there it's hard to justify the price.

Speaking of light SIG triggers I was amazed with how light the P365 trigger was. Felt less than my Hiperfire PDI AR trigger, like 30% less. It was If there was a long slide longer grip version and reasonably priced mags it'd be fucking sick since you'd get a ton of performance for it's size. The 320 wasn't comfortable but had a similar trigger with about double the weight. Pre cocked strikers seem like a bad idea, just handling the thing it seemed meh and prolly gave me second hand diarrhea from the indian components.

CZs were hard to rack because there wasn't much slide to grab, triggers were 15% better than Glock, action felt smooth and good like a 1911. 1911s felt great but were heavy as shit. HKP30 and VP9 felt like dogshit. Terrible grip feel, fat slides, bad looking plastic, and just not that great. M&P smalls felt wack, bigger ones were aight. I forget what, maybe the Hellcat? had insanely fucking rough rectangular spikes on the backstrap that'd probably draw blood in 100 rounds. Handled some old S&W thing and the grip looked and felt like a fucking football, how tf did anybody ever think that was okay. TTI Canik had a sick trigger that was short and good, and grip was super legit. Steel frame version was heavy as balls but not quite as much as a 1911.

Spent 45 minutes groping a good deal of the handguns at a new to me shop, inspected all the wares, didn't buy a thing. Can't be bothered for 40cpr import birdshot or 60cpr winchester 5.56, and don't need $40 milspec charging handles or other overpriced mags. They did have a $9500 H&R .45 SMG thing which I didn't expect, but it appeared to be built from junk metal and wood 75 years ago.
