The Novelty: breaking firing pins and sheering bolt lugs while still paying 40-50cpr for the privilege. Also the magazines are YUCK
Those are the problems that the people trying to revive the ICAR/ LWRC SIX8 concept are supposedly going to fix. The Magpul ICAR mags look pretty good to me. Maybe it'll actually catch on this time since there seems to be more interest in moving away from 5.56. I still don't think it makes sense for the average consumer yet since the existing infrastructure for 5.56/small frame ARs is so robust.

PSA ammo is popping guns and just failing in general.
They mass botted and flagged this channel for reporting it.
Yeah, PSA going in the "Big Book of Kikery" next to Sig.
FWIW, I bought some of the match grade 77gr AAC ammo back about 2 years ago when it first came out, and it had issues so these stories coming out don't surprise me. The projectiles weren't seated properly and the case neck was crooked. You could see the tip wiggle back and forth when rolled on a flat surface.

I didn't shoot it at all for fear of exploding gun. Surprisingly though PSA let me return the ammo. I rolled the dice and bought more, and since then I've personally had no problems with it. Here's a group I shot just yesterday with it. Its 11 shots because fuck you.

It seems like they have QC issues on some lots and not on others, because the lot numbers on the good ammo didn't match the bad ones. Pretty much the story of every PSA product.

Maybe I'm being a dumbass, but the whole anti-Bear Creek think seemed gucci consoomy to me.

"The cheap stuff gets you killed! If you pay $1,500.00 for one of MY SPONSOR's uppers you can put 6,000,000 rounds through it! BCA will wear out after 200,000! What will you do then?"

Buy another, better, barrel or bolt and still come out several hundred dollars ahead?
Also, whoose putting that much ammo through a barrel? I'm bargain hunting on upper/lowers and you think I'm putting half a million dollars worth of 5.56 into paper targets?

"You're gonna GIT KEELED! What if it fails you in a fire fight?"

2. I'll shoot them with my side arm, which is faster than reloading.

Fuck it I'm telling people to buy Bear Creek Arsenal instead of PSA now.

guntubers are so fucking gay, i disabled my adblocker to look and see how many midroll ads there were and on a 16 minute video and there's 5.

nothing here can't be said in under a minute. it's overly sensationalist """reporting""" of something that may or may not even be true. just outrage porn which the arfcom boomer audience loves to gobble up like pigs in a trough.

lots of claims, very little evidence. but that doesn't matter when you are an Influencer ™️

This is why I always compare the consumer reviews (en masse, not just cherry-picked) with the guntube reviews. People rave about their BCA's, generally. But then one lemon, and you're supposed to yeet the entire factory.

But PSA? OpticsPlanet? PrimaryArms? NONONO, fam, they have SUCH good customer service! Just send back every fucking thing you buy every fucking time, it's GREAT! 8)

[ and remember to use promo code TARDEDMONKE for 13% off everything site-wide except for ammo! ]

Or hell, just buy the Same eXact Thing for $200 more at your LGS, because only chumps pay the FFL filing fee! :\

tbh, some of the best deals I get are from mom-and-pop internet shops rotating out their old inventory. Might take an extra week to get here, but my luck has been golden so far.

The Magpul ICAR mags
It's interesting to me to see what looks like a standard PMAG except 300% more expensive. Are these out in the wild yet? Anyone here tried them? What about ASC 6.5 Grendel mags? I went Duramag for my 6 ARC but the amount of curve is less appealing to me versus something with a more common form factor.
2. I'll shoot them with my side arm, which is faster than reloading.
You actually shoot your firearms?! Did nobody tell you firearms are only for social media posts? What's next, you'll say you train and stay fit instead of "just seeing red" when it comes time to fight?
I didn't think these were still being fielded. Someone tell him to get his ass back to the Big Shell.

The only box of AAC 5.56 I got had lopsided projectiles too, but they fit and Ol' Reliable spit them out in the vague direction of the trashpile without popping.

I bought some of each(ASC, Duramag, E-Lander, D&H) and they all functioned just fine. I'm not entirely sure how people are having feeding problems since all the dimensions look good, the only brand that weirds me out is the 10 rounder D&H as the front is a bit thick on the interior - still works though.

A guy on reddit is working on what is possibly the shittiest shitblaster to have ever shitblasted and It's beautiful, Open bolt full auto 3D printed .22 which uses compliant mechanisms for the sear and mag release (for those that don't know what that means, both the mag release and the sear are integral parts of the frame and are flexible). This is some shit Mark Serbu would come up with if he was 40 years younger and terminally online and what Sci-fi writers though Neon Mohawk'd Gang members would slaughter each other with in the slums of Neo-Chicago in the far off year of 2025.

at SOF Week Sig had an armor plate of no more than a few mm's to boast of their armor pen capabilities. range is stated but barrel length isn't. I still have my doubts as to whether Sig Hybrid ammo can pen armor at any reasonable distance without tungsten

Some guy is working on producing an enhanced ultra tunable MCX gas plug dubbed "The OMEGA Valve". Has 4 main settings but can be fine tuned using PMM SCAR Gas jets to adjust bleed off which he says give you something like a theoretical 70 possible gas settings between his 4 "coarse" adjustments and PMM's many fine adjustments. First models will be for 5.56 guns, next comes .300BO models and if there's enough interest he'll do one for the Spear.

I am currently in the midst of reading "No Surrender: My 30 year War" by Hiroo Onada and starting on the bottom of page 83 and continuting onto the top of page 84 he writes the following

"At that time, each man had an infantry rifle, mine a 99 and the other three 38's. We each had two hand grenades and two pistols. There were three hundred cartridges for the 99 and nine hundred for the 38's. In addition we had six hundred Lewis machine gun cartridges, which we later fixed so that they could be used in the 99"

I'd be curious to know how removed the rims and if they even hand filed extractor grooves (although that would be probably redundant due to massive case expansion) as from cross sections I've seen .303 has a lot of meat in that area.

The Japanese had three variants of 7.7 ammunition; the standard rimless for rifles, semi-rimmed for the Type 92(Pretty feasible to turn down the rim I guess), and the rimmed variant which is a straight copy of .303 British for their Lewis gun copies. Same projectiles but I couldn't imagine the nightmare of removing the rims and extractor grooves on a dozen, let alone six hundred rounds.

Onada didn't really have much else to do for some 28 odd years besides hike, gather food and occasionally shoot at some Filipinos so it wouldn't have been impossible. I haven't finished the book yet but I doubt he'll do any more explaining.

Are there any CCW insurance companies that aren't outright scams? I want it since I have had to draw, but not fire, previously, but when I did some preliminary research it seems like they don't actually provide the legal representation that they claim to.

General consensus is to have a decent criminal defense lawyer(preferably with experience in serious shit) on retainer and a separate bank account for legal funds rather than paying into a CCW "insurance company".

I've seen a decent amount of Bear Creek guns shit the bed, if they work that's great but plenty don't, and have fun dealing with CS in the case of latter. The skeeziest FFL I know, who would do anything for a buck and buys the cheapest shit he thinks he can move, won't even stock them any more because he got tired of dealing with lemons. Lot of failures to feed or failures to fire, wait for a sale on an Andro Corp ACI-15 if you want a decent AR for like $400

as for the PSA/AAC ammo issues they seem to have been legit, but also early in production and dealt with a while ago. The worst issue I read about were scattered but concerning reports of baffle strikes on cans. I haven't heard anything recently, and bought quite a bit last year after they seemed to get their shit together, and overall I'm pretty pleased especially with the 77gr 5.56

Damn. That's a lot more money than a CCW insurance policy, but I guess that's the be expected if they are just scam services when it matters. Thanks for the reply.

It's hard to know how effective they are because they make you sign NDAs but we do know they have refused to cover quite a few people who had insurance. I go back and forth on it. I got a bad feeling when it was so difficult to cancel my membership to Us law shield. If anyone can actually find someone talking about actually being represented by their insurance let me know. I never have.

this isn't all that impressive. All the stock or frame on a flintlock does is hold the lock tight against the touch hole and give you something to hold on to. there is no actual mechanical function to it.
