Recoil impulse is very direct with little upward push which is nice.
The real element comes down to two main factors
1. Its absurdly cheap. The only milled parts are the bolt and carrier assembly, and the trunion. The receiver is stamped, as are many other components.
2. No gas system. The thing will run any ammo for any length of time, and theres no gas port to get dirty. Thats more reliability, and less maintenance. The fluted chamber aids in extraction making it more reliable still.

Its also worth noting that the g3 is a roller delay lock, while the FAL is a tilting bolt, which is inherently less accurate as a rule. The g3 is technically a lighter rifle, though IMO thats more of a wash.
Our favorite francophile did a video on the issue as well
Dang, probably gonna have to pick up overtime shifts for a few months and get me one. I love iron sighted battle rifles. Anyone have experience with the PTR stuff? If so, think they're worth looking into? I'd hope for a 2-3 MOA battle rifle with an 18-20" barrel and 1:10 rifling.

Thats what I have.
American bult G3 TL;DR
Century C308s are dogs and not worth touching, some are good, most are problem children.
Century CA3s are PTRs, but I suspect built on untested (I.E. none of them have been checked for problems) FMP imported kits by Century (hence the lower price, much less Q/C, and PTR isn't paying for those kits)
PTRs are good insofar as I know, they just can have the occasional Q/C issue; be sure to keep your wartanty documents

Do any of the readers of this thread live in or near Greensboro, NC? If any or one of you do, I implore you, go to the Greensboro Historical Museum and see if they have the Williams/Lisk .22 machinegun on display, because according to the linked below article, that was it's last known location as of May 28th 1994
https://archive.ph/vAMvl If it isn't on display harass on of the senior staff to see if you can get any kind of answer out of them
Okay, I was in the Triad area today and briefly stopped by the museum. They do not currently have the gun on display. That being said, I did ask about it and was given the business card for the curator. I'll shoot her an email and see what happens next.

The museum also has a small collection of Confederate guns, including 3 Morse Carbines and a Morse bullet/cartridge mold.

You are the best, please (politely) harass whoever the curator is until they give you any information they may or may not have.
Would be really funny if a denizen of the MRGT was able to dig up info that TFB couldn't.

Also, They updated Arfcom UI and made the search function a FREE feature

It's, Bizzare. Seriously look at the home page

What the hell is going to happen to the flux-raider when the P320 gets sent to the farm?
Imagine if it becomes a Beretta or Glock kit...
I guess they’ll just sell the P365 XL version.

I keep getting recommended this video about a guy who free carries a MK23 as his CC weapon lol. Cool video.

As much as I love my Mark 23, it's definitely not something I'd use as a concealed carry gun. As a "go to war" sidearm when SHTF in a thigh rig? Absolutely. But not a carry gun.

Canadian AR180 derivatives? Do any get a recommend?
since the laws up there changed, you basically have sporting configurations like the Benelli R1/MR1, lots of .22LR, and the rest are surplus VZ 52 or SKS rifles maybe something like an M1 or manual action rifles like lever-action or pump action. there might be some wiggle room with getting a receiver set, but i'm not a Canadian and can't really advise much on the specifics. a Mossberg MVP or even a re-barreled Lee-Enfield in .308 (or get an Ishapore Lee, or go with 7.62x39 and just modify the shoulder of the barrel, et c).

Conceal carrying a full size gun is not as big a deal as people make it out to be.

I will say I’m glad that stream light came out with the TLR 7 HLX. More comfortable than having a X300U on my gun.

We'll see. Did you clock Anderson going under pre SHOT 2025?
I did not, however my industry insight is limited to ammunition specifically. I should have been clearer that I do not know how much longer PSA will keep up their ammo side of things. Most of their projectiles are designed and made by Hornady and the stuff they do make in house is made on tooling designed by Hornady.

It looks like Hornady decided to partner with PSA after the tit for tat they had with Winchester in 2021.

I think longevity of their operation will depend on if they can build the institutional knowledge on how to manufacture all components of ammo at the industrial level over the next 5 years.

Dr. Basso is working on his Type 99 triggers. Featured likka. Oh and some fancy Ramen noodles.

I have free time (wtf is that) I'm going to work on these. I got a 10 pack for cheap from Sarco and going to work on learning by doing.

I got 3 of those cheap Rock Island 10/22 one for poppa, one for FIL one for Mrs..... I might suck but I buy stuff. 89 on PSA sale.

30 FGC-9 MK.II's seized from rebels in Myanmar, this would be as far as I know, the largest single seizure of FGC-9's in history
I don't know if these were seized but here's 60 FGC-9's presumably in Myanmar

Mysterious figure, part time open source gun widget designer and /k/ Tripfag, A2grip, has actually designed something pretty cool
You know those flip up and down Targets Military ranges and some competition ranges have? Well he made one out of a stick, Alibaba parts and a Cardboard target

Here's what he had to say about it

"Been working on what im calling TINMAN and finally got to let other people meet them this past weekend. 10km LOS range, days of battery life, scriptable up/down patterns and low per unit cost.
I was annoyed with every remote target system being thousands of dollars, rated for being hit with a gau8 and weighing 100lb. Thats probably great for institutional usage but I wanted the other side of the coin.
Enter TINMAN. Its a series of mostly 3D printed hinges, linkages and servo boxes that allow you to rebuild the units should they take a hit. By going with a 1x2 instead of a steel base you can screwgun the thing together and apart in a couple minutes. The units themselves can be weighted down or staked down and are easily rucked and placed in the most evil places possible. Unit cost low and battery life very decent. Also the remote was designed to resemble a movie prop so its very satisfying to use.
Future improvements are going to include muzzle flash, sound and hit detection with adjustable "fatality" thresholds."

Glock GMBH sent GunCAD Enthusiast and Entrepreneur Pembleton & Sons a letter regarding his sale of "G-Spot" forced reset triggers for Glock pistols saying "Hey we really don't care about the triggers but you need to keep our name out your fucking mouth"

I don't know how a man wouldn't develop a flinch with one.
There's got to be some engineering mantra or something to convince yourself not to flinch, because on paper and in theory the bolt carrier will not leave the track and enter your head when it very much looks like it's about to. It's like firing an AK without the dust cover, you never really think about how that thin piece of metal does a lot of work completely suppressing the anticipation of the bolt turning you into a unicorn.
