Is a double-barrel 10-gauge any superior to a 12-gauge pump as a rock-bottom-simple "the wolf is at the door" weapon for the minimally trained?

An old timer is swearing so but I'm trying to give advice to a bunch of 'normie' people prepping for the EBT shutdown because I know a little and they know nothing.
I mean, it will absolutely splatter Jamal. A 12-gauge pump will let you splatter Trayvon, Daquarious, and Welfarion on top of Jamal so that is going to be a better choice.

12-gauge is much more common that 10-gauge as well so shells are cheaper and easier to find. A 20-gauge might be better for a complete beginner. Much lighter recoil and it’s still extremely lethal.

This was an interesting exercise, shotgun champion vs. FPVs:
Interesting for sure, though I kind of question the M4 as a base in general as that thing is front-heavy for what it is. There is a significant weight difference between a comparably outfitted M2 and M4, and the only advantage the M4 would offer is easy change to low-recoil round capabilities with the 4-port barrel...but you're carrying an extra barrel which is the heaviest part of that gun.

Also that stock is probably a mistake. I know the original style was generally panned for comfort, but that is strictly speaking using the "European" collapsible stock so I don't know if that's better than the original design. The fixed pistol grip stock is the most comfortable and solid stock to shoot airborne targets regardless, just so long as you trim it down to have the proper LOP. I think the basic PG stock is also lighter.

Also I know benelli can never admit that anything but the stock 7+2 configuration is better, but for drones I imagine an extra +1 from a Nova extension hanging off the end might be warranted.

I would interested to see someone who shoots sporting clays at a high level do this. From what I see this guy is mostly shooting 3 gun style matches.

What I'd really like to see is someone with those skills plus a real attempt to make Saiga-12-alike box fed guns with optimization for clay shooting (and thus drone shooting). One of the primary issues is so many shotguns being tube-fed makes reloading quickly extremely skill-gated compared to something box-fed. Just look at the ridiculous gear this guy has to run just to be able to reload somewhere north of a dozen rounds fast.

Went to the range with my oldest son today and had a helluva time. Took the Vector, the Franklin Armory F22, the Buckmark, and I shot about 50rnds through my Staccato P since I was carrying it. Got the optics on the Vector and the F22 zeroed. Brought the SilencerCo Hybrid 46M set up for 9mm and the Surefire Ryder 22-S. Shot everything except the Staccato suppressed, since I don't have a 9mm piston yet.

The F22 was the star of the show. We each only shot one mag through the Vector. I honestly thought that one was going to be shot by my son the most since it was the biggest gun we brought, but both of us just kept going back to the F22 because it was just so fun to shoot, especially once we both got the rhythm of the binary trigger down. Ran absolutely flawlessly, even with subsonic ammo. Binary mode + suppressor + subsonic ammo = big shit-eating grins for everyone. I ran all the new 25rnd mags through it and they all performed great, even the BX-25 X2.

We put the Ryder 22-S on the Buckmark and that was a great time too. With subsonics all you hear is the action cycling. I wish we had gone out to the desert instead of an indoor range so we could have shot without hearing pro on. Eventually I want to get some steel targets so we can just go on BLM land. I think it would be a blast to let 'er rip with the F22 at a steel target.

I definitely will be getting a lightweight barrel for the F22 next, either carbon fiber or aluminum.

Maybe anti drone requirements will finally push rimless shot shells and make mag fed guns easier.

Based on everything in this video, it sounds like if everything foes right the first Lima Six preorders will be in customer hands by Christmas.

The Ounce is really rad, but not $900 rad. That seems like an awful lot of money for a .22 that isn't something finely crafted and tuned for accuracy, like a S&W Model 41 or the old target version of the Colt Woodsman, the kind with the slab sided underlug barrel.

I'm sorry but a boutique 22 that uses and extremely complex mechanism is probably worth 2x the most mass produced pistol in the world. I get balking at the price, but it's not a blowback, it's pretty complex and it's got a lot of tiny parts that are probably really fucking annoying to manufacture.

I agree that for 900$ it's not on my list, but if "we" as gun owners want cool and interesting stuff, and not more AR15s/glock clones we need to be excited when new/cool shit hits the block.

someone on r/retroARs is cloning this, if I can find a CMORE for the right price I might throw one on my DOE.

I forget what these are but they take a glock or 1911 lower, I would be interesting in a DIY version but I think they were like 500$ without a threaded barrel and shit.

Went skeet shooting this weekend, the fannypack is actually pretty good for holding shells, I really need a autoshotty so I can do the doubles, well, I actually probably don't, hitting moving targets is fucking hard man, I'd miss them all anyway lol.

Thats fair but my budget for firearm engineering curiosities is pretty limited lol. I am absolutely excited for it

same as I'm excited for that Rideout Arsenal Dragon - its cool but also its $2500.
same as I'm excited for the Vector to get a FRT so it can finally stretch its legs for civilians but thats going to run you ~$1500 + $200
same as I'm excited for the Lima Six belt fed AR conversion but that's gonna be $3000

:(

I finally shot a buddies TX22 FRT and I hate I didn't buy when cheaper. "IT'S NOT PRACTICAL" and I'm not gay, IDGAF, it ruled. I love my super safe PCC and AR, but fuuuuuuuuuck that little 22 just blazing like a warthog? Peak giggles.
I wish the Keltec had a FRT, I really don't want a Taurus.

I'm trying to not dip below 10k in my checking acc, But the temptation to buy a vintage winchester 1885 in .45-120 I found for only 2,000 dollars is getting very hard to resist...

I probably won't buy it. probably.

hopefully someone else pounces on it.

It’s cool but I definitely would never get one. There are some neat guns just like there are some neat cars. I can appreciate them, but the ones I want to own are practical and boringly reliable.
the oz is like those cool concept cars that concept art of gets released every decade, and maybe a couple get for display. they're neat demonstrations of technology and design but not really marketable.

Looks like they ran with the idea of that shrink-wrapped shot stuffed into cartridges. Besides drones, I'm mildly interested in the performance against other targets.

But too bad none of it will ever get imported here, and I got rid of my 74 clone a long time ago anyway. While western military manufacturers might pick up on something like it quickly (if it works as intended), I doubt we'll see them being made domestically for the civilian market any time soon; unless it's from individuals who make those nutty shotgun shells for Taufledermaus.
