Not really. It's a silly meme cartridge that .22TCM made obsolete (IMHO)
I think the ammo would need to be significantly cheaper than 5.56 to get more people interested, which probably won’t ever happen.

A more compelling gun would be a p90 or mp7 in 9mm.

The Current PDW market is pretty terrible. A p90 in 9mm would fit in normal sized backpacks, and a properly designed gun with a magazine through the grip could get to around 12” OAL with a collapsed or folded stock.

Does anyone actually give a fuck about 5.7.

The P90 was cool in spite of it being 5.7, not because of being 5.7
I liked the pistol mostly in part due to splinter cell. A 20 round mag with 30 round mags would be nice for edc and competition shooting because you can never have too much ammo.

But price and availability plus the good rounds not being sold to the public annoys me…

…I should just get into 10mm instead for camping/hiking and maybe some edc in winter

American Guncrafters are the keltec of blackpowder firearms i swear to God.

This has to be the coolest gun that is not a gun i have ever seen

Random question of the day, just to share pain. What's the biggest gauge shotgun y'all have shot?

For me, an old school 8 gauge goose gun, held to the shoulder. Regretted it then and will probably regret it more as I get older.

Here's an autistic gun development shower thought for you: The "wonder weapon" assault rifle STG-44 only mutated into a battle rifle (G3/CETME) and a submachine gun (MP5), with the assault rifle G33/53 and CETME L guns not being terribly popular.

I don't think it means anything, but I found it interesting, and I wonder why it is. Clearly receiver lifespan isn't an issue (with stamped guns it can be) and welding a pic rail to a G3 is a lot easier than trying to mount optics on an AK, so it isn't that either. The AR15/18 is obviously superior, but neither system is actually mechanically related to its doctrinal forefather in any way that I can recall at the moment.

To civilians or militaries?
For the latter, I think everyone was just poor and didn't want to keep doing sweeping new changes in both rifle and chambering.
The former, though, this video sums it up pretty well.
TL;DR: The assault rifles had no time to shine for peacekeeping or for crime.

BUFFMAN Range is obsessed with it, but not really, no. It's main advantage is high velocity, but that rapidly drops off with a reduction of barrel length, so it's really only useful in full sized handguns and PCCs. At that point, a good 9mm load will outperform it in every way. It's a really neat round, but it doesn't have much modern relevancy.

5.7 was rendered obsolete when the Soviet Union fell, and the fear of Russian paratroopers with advanced body armor airdropping behind our defensive lines was erased. Without the hardened tool steel penetrator core that is very expensive and difficult to obtain, 5.7 is a meme round that only has relevancy because of pop culture influence.

.22TCM is a neat cartridge though. I wish it had more adoption, but I also just like necked pistol cartridges.

Ah yes, a PDW that isn't easily concealable, thick clamshell plastic furniture, has questionable ergonomics, and uses a cartridge that doesn't crimp the bullet to the case neck but glues it, not to mention is coated with an expensive dry lubricant. But hey at least you could troll H&K girl and fanbois on Instagram when she would post MP7 slop.

Stargate SG-1 made it look cool when I watched those episodes in middle school.

8 gauge kiln gun rounds but the gun is technically not a firearm so I guess it doesn’t count.

Yes but have you held a suppressed P90?

What do you guys think would be a good 30 cal suppressor host? I'm thinking a 300blk bolt like the Ruger ranch 2.
Costs a good bit more than an American Ranch but I was thirsting over a Savage 110pcs in 300blk for a bit. Bolt action pistol with a rear pic rail for a brace or stock. Takes AICS mags instead of AR15 mags which is a plus in my opinion since AR15 mags kinda suck in bolt actions (hard to chamber a round when the mag is full) but that's mostly personal preference.

Just a toy so I couldn't justify the cost, if it was something I 'needed' for whatever reason I'd probably just grab a Ranch and deal with the larger size

The Savage 110 has the bolt on the left whereas the Aero Solus pistol is on the right (plus double the price). I wanted to build one but can't find pre-fit .300 pistol barrels anywhere,

That's definitely a consideration but left-hand bolt right-hand ejection definitely works for the pistol sized bolt actions imo, and it's the better option if you're going to actually use it as a pistol. They're small enough to hold onto one-handed and and once a brace/stock is in the equation they're really well balanced in the hand. It's different and ideally they'd offer it in both setups but not a dealbreaker, at least not for me

Not the biggest by gauge but by far the most painful was the Keltec KS7 with magnum buckshot. Your shoulder gets banged to shit and also the front of your thumb constantly gets smashed by the front lip of the pump that's supposed to keep you from shooting your hand off. I was done after one magazine of punishment lol
