A point in @SinistralRifleman 's favor about Right wingers becoming strangely anti-gun is Andrew Branca, everyone's beloathed grifting lawyer who almost got Rittenhouse thrown in prison before being replaced, had heavily emphasized the P320 with its threaded barrel, extended 20(to 21) round magazines and a SIG Romeo optic carried in the altercation as opposed to focusing entirely on the fact he was grappling with cops. The perp could have had a .25 ACP Jennings for all it mattered, but he wants to scare people.

I don't think he's really that right. Republicans are always anti-gun, they just like to present as Our Guys for votes. When you look at their actual policy and enforcement decisions, however, it's almost always anti-gun. This isn't really a revelation, at least to anyone who has been paying attention. Frankly, this is exactly what I expect from the Republicans.

Something I've found quite amusing is how a lot of the stuff that Navy Arms brought in a while ago has been sold off to distributors. Who would have guessed at you couldn't easily get $1k+ for an obscure single stack 9mm handgun or No. 4 enfield in 2026. Once again, the lesson that rare=/=valuable must be taught.
It does make me wonder how much they paid for it all, including the FRF2 rifles. I'm curious if they're trying to move stagnant inventory, or if they're trying to stir up cash to pay off debts.

Yeah to be honest I never saw Branca as particularly right-wing in the first place. I'll give him credit for recommending common sense, and also to his credit he would have entirely told someone not to go to the protest, not to get into an altercation, and definitely not to do so while armed. But he also regularly tries to sensationalize anything gun and 2a related, good or bad. Kind of like that thing going around where people are posting the collage of Tim Pool saying 'THIS IS A CIVIL WAR NOW' that has posts in it from like 6+ years ago. Branca also got sucked pretty deep into Rekieta's degeneracy so I hold him at a far distance from right wing values if he was willing to condone that utter travesty.

If you want your enemies to be armed you've allowed ideology to override your own survival instincts.
The point soaring over your head includes vital information that focuses upon some fat retard claiming threaded barrels, optics and 20 round pistol magazines are dangerous and unusual when we've had them for decades and carrying them is fine.
My enemies fail background checks, shoot one another over shoes and jump off of bridges before the age of 30.

I haven’t seen anyone say shit about the threaded barrel or the shitty ass Sig optic.

If you think he was carrying 60rds worth of ammo to protect himself from basketball Americans or anything lawful you’re playing stupid. He intended to find trouble and he definitely found it.

He could have been carrying a S&W J-frame, I couldn't give less of a fuck. He picked a fight with the Feds and got shot because he was grabbing for it.
What he does shouldn't impact me or my purchase options as the RINOs and Feds are suggesting.

Feds ain’t coming for your guns. Don’t get so hyper focused on muh guns that you have an autistic meltdown because you saw some dumb ass MIGA poster on X say something stupid. Shitlib went looking for trouble - got made gun.

The Feds probably should ban the P320 though for being Jewish and Indian.

I have a question for the thread, what do you consider to be the prize of your collection?
Either my Walther P88 or a Winchester Model 101 with a really nice engraving job that I was gifted as a kid for skeet shooting.

Everything else I have is pretty common (SKS, K31) or too contemporary to really be a prize for me.

Is it worthwhile to use cowboy loads for historical guns, or is it better to stick to blackpowder? Also, when loading blackpowder cartidges, do I need to do anything differently from loading regular cartidges?
Blackpowder loads can often be more powerful that "cowboy" loads because it behaves differently than smokeless. for example cowboy loads in .45 colt are very anemic, basically a pop gun at that level on a good day you can even see the bullets flying towards the target.

Blackpowder .45 colt loading like 255gr flat point w/ 40grs 3FG BP or 300gr flat point with 30grs 3FG were made to kill a galloping horse at 70 yards (this is why single action army revolver shoot really high. the sights are zeroed for around 70 yards). very powerful, and low pressure.

When loading BP you must always make sure to COMPRESS the powder charge. there can not be ANY air space in the cartridge or else you risk making a hand grenade. Black powder isn't weak, it is just a different beast, and one unfortunately few people today try to tame. with Big, heavy bullets BP makes a dandy fine propellant.

You seem much more in the know than me on this topic. I just wanted to add on that blackpowder is indeed a lot more powerful than I used to think; Everything Black Powder got a revolver to put out a 45 colt 250 grain round at about 1070 fps, and a 200 grain bullet at about 1150, which surprised me a lot considering that's effectively modern 45 ACP +p velocities. The old ways are still strong without a doubt, and humans have always been very good at killing things, even if the methods were less advanced.

As an aside, I also have watched some videos on recreations of stone age human weapons like the spear thrower, and it's pretty incredible how effective the spears are once you are trained enough to hit. Same for slings. I saw a guy throw a rock through two pieces of sheet metal with a sling. It's easy forget, but humans wanted to kill the same things with weapons 200 or even 10,000 year ago as they do now, and most of the weapons are pretty good at it.

.45 ACP was made to clone the .45 Colt's power after the army's poor experience with .38 long colt. .45 ACP was developed in much the same way as .45 Colt. By shooting cadavers, livestock and pine boards. IIRC, the Legarde test came to the conclusion that a pistol must be at least .44 caliber to get adequate stopping power.

We know now that you can get more wriggle room on bore diameter via velocity (.357mag, Super .38, 10mm) but for lower velocities in the 800-1,000FPS range I believe caliber is very important. a .45 or .44 will expand wider or penetrate deeper with comparable loads in .38spl and 9x19.

.40 cal is the sensible middle ground, which is why despite all the pissing and moaning about ".40 Short & weak" the .40S&W was a great idea, and actually closer to the original 10mm concept than modern 10mm.

I remember reading that a properly thrown rock from a sling hit with about the same power as a 9mm. Wouldn't want to get hit with one.

I mean, that's pretty much what I carry every day. Staccato P with the 17rnd flush fit magazine to reduce printing, one in the chamber for a total of 18rnds in the weapon itself, plus two 20rnd magazines in a magazine carrier on my belt. My Staccato even has an optic and threaded barrel. I guess all I want is to start shit with federal agents and look for trouble, right?

Seriously, what you wrote is fucking retarded and you should feel retarded.

I used to carry a G19.
15+1 in the gun and 17 in the spare.
That's not quite 60 but some would call it overkill apparently.

What fresh hellscape do you venture into? I've never felt the need to carry more that 6 .357Mag and 1 reload.
