CZ82, actual milsurp made for police/military use. A very modernized makarov, way better sights, polygonal rifling, 12rd magazine, ambi controls, push button mag release and frame mounted safety. These are already pretty complex guns and apparently CZ originally intended the safety to also work as a decocker similar to HK hammer guns- but the mechanism got so complicated they couldnt get it to work reliably so they just put a spur hammer on it and said be careful decocking it.But I think I'd like it as a jacket carry during winter. Any thoughts on which I should go with?
(To be clear I'm not actually being autistic about muh milsurp higher quality, I'm sure they are the same gun. I just mean the 82 is cooler. What's one more caliber right?)
Like a makarov though they are really snappy, gun has a lot of attitude for being such a "wimpy" cartridge on paper. Fun to shoot.
I personally don't see the horror at the thought of carrying one of these as far as ballistics goes. Sure 9x18 is not ideal but its certainly more than .32auto. Just make sure its reliable and don't even bother with meme hollowpoints in 9x18. They sell spring sets for these might throw one in for reliability.
But legally speaking, I might be wary of carrying one simply because IIRC they are not really drop safe in the modern sense of the word. If you drop it you might summon Johnny Law.
As Fur Fag said, don't be scared off by the finish on these. Its basically baked on paint so it flakes off relatively easily. Always wanted to get one DLC coated, the silhouette is very handsome.
I will tell you one thing to inspect at FFL before signing 4473- check the safety detent. Some older models have a little steel ball swaged in the frame a certain way and it can come loose and ride above the safety lever where it rides the detent. Safety will still operate but it will just be a smooth glide up and down, no positive click against the detent. Newer models swaged the ball a better way. I have no clue of actual date ranges for this. Remember they are polygonal barrels, when you inspect bore condition dont mistake it for a shot out barrel.
