His background is an economist, it's in his nature to be overtly idealistic based around models and "intuition" upon how the world ought to be. Doesn't matter if it is neoclassical, commie, or Austrian school that's how they all work.

this is actually a good point for arguing for total privatization, I do think in the absence of a Federal Government you would have a sort of City-State system kind of like Singapore or like some free association of neighboring cities with a common currency, i’m unsure how that would positively impact a population in comparison to now, I think a lot of the economic damage in the United States is due to lax laws surrounding Outsourcing and a shrinking job market, of course you are going to have people with mental disabilities or elderly people who will need benefits regardless, but I think a lot of economic problems would be solved by mandating a certain amount job openings be made available in the United States exclusively if a company desires market access for large corporations, again probably not a position a lot of Libertarians would agree on, but in terms of Protectionism i think something like that is far preferable to Tariffs
