MGSV on Steam has had another Integer Overflow glitch occur, and is now playing the inaccessible Nuke Disarmament cutscenes for all players again.

I just booted up the game and got them after returning to Mother Base, neat... and the best part is when it loads back to the ACC and Ocelot's dialogue immediately is 'Boss, it looks like someone's developing nukes again, nevermind' :story:

Ok how about this. How the fuck did anyone beat the original NES game without Internet? I'm pretty sure I only got about 3 screens into it.
With help from your dad. I remember my dad figuring out that as soon as one of those floor pits started opening up then going into the menu or codec screen(can't remember) close it and it wouldn't open again. Made those sections trivial.

The only time I remember us getting mad was the twins fight where you have to call a certain person outside of a certain room to get the rocket launcher. I should add that neither of us could speak or read english so we played that game on very hard mode.

My tier list of MGS games
  • MGSV, perfect gameplay, far cry 2 in third person, interesting story although kojima took the 8 hour cutscene criticism too far and put most of the plot behind tapes, unfortunately cut short by a retard CEO trying to do bets and gambling 10 years before they were a meme, and it was forced to run on consoles with 256mb of ram, 9/10
  • MGS3 fantastic story and gameplay, its amazing to think it ran on the ps2, 10/10
  • MGS2, i didn't get it, really, it was too similar to mgs1, so i bored out of it quickly, i did really enjoy the opening level ?/10
  • MGS1 really good game, although i played it years later on pc as a kid and i can't really remember much, although i loved the high stakes thriller film style opening sequences and the amazing voice acting for the time, 7/10 just because i was already used to much more complex games by then.
  • MGS4, never played it, it was a ps3 exclusive while i went the 360 path and everyone and their mother back in 2009 memed about the long ass cutscenes, i also got spoiled and i can't bother to play it since i know how shit of a hand solid snake was dealt in that game, although the ending is peak kino and one of the best ways to end a franchise alongside halo 3

I mean he was kinda pseudo-canon in Splinter Cell.
If they're actually going to try to take canonizing him seriously in another IP good luck. I imagine it'd be hard to write in some of Metal Gears major plot points into another IPs timeline, especially the shit that goes down in 4. There was a relatively small time window where Solid Snake would've been operating inside of the US military, but the suit they have him in is MGS2 era, after he's already gone rogue. And like that dude said, if Siege takes place in the "near future" Snake is dead and dust. I figure they either have to pull some major timeline shifting and have him still be young and willing to associate with the military, shit all over his character arc in MGS4 and claim he did a Benjamin Button, de-aged, and then went off killing again, or just put as much thought into why he's there as Smash Bros. did.

They would've had a much simpler time using Iroquois Pliskin as a crossover character instead of Solid Snake. Kojima completely forgot about him after the Big Shell so he's got no plot commitments, plus he's already in the SEALs so it's easier to explain how he winds up in Team Six.

you can rescue some lore from the shit kojima wrote after 3
1.- big boss mercenary arc
2.- big boss being a shit father to liquid
3.- young solid snake at foxhound

you can make a legit good game with those things. add kojima power ranger shit and you have something cooking
I know this post is old as shit but I saw it and thought

This entire game could be told from Gray Fox's perspective.

But we could never get the Gray Fox game that pre-MGS4 fans of the series wanted. Because his voice actor in Japan died and I guess Japan (or just Kojima?) have too much respect for their voice actors to recast roles or something?

Like, just have it being Gray Fox following Big Boss and seeing him start as his savior and descending into madness and realizing that this is just how it is and he's gonna follow him to hell or whatever.

What an epic that could have been.

Im replaying mgs1 on my ps5. I also have the emulator on my laptop, but I'm trying not to use cheat codes for once.

I switched my language to German and my save file was gone. I almost put my controller through the TV. before I threw it, I switched back into American English, and my save file reappeared.

Two words: kid sniper wolf following Saladino descent into full on Outer Heaven madness. Like when he recruits Chico in Peace Walker, my boy wasnt right in the head.

Kaneto Shiozawa died in 2000 but Takumi Yamazaki (who played Ocelot in MGS3) does a perfect impression of him. He's taken over a lot of Shiozawa's roles, including Gray Fox for the MGS Bande Desinee
