I think that is truly the biggest sin. Meryl, the woman who was using a Desert Eagle before she wore a bra, suddenly wanted a wedding with the first guy available the whole time? Blegh
And why? Cause he saved her life once or whatever?

Oh well, military marriage. Probably last like five minutes
Big Boss also showing up to hug it out with Snake also irks me, but funny enough it ends up being the one of the things that makes the most sense with how much Kojima pussified Big Boss in the following games.
I actually liked that scene, despite the improbability of Big Boss still being alive. I think Snake spoke for us all when he said 'How are you STILL alive?'
IDK, MGS4 is still entertaining in the end even if it's kind of cliche. I'd rather have Kojima hurringly trying to tie everything up in a nice bow and rolling my eyes a bit over Kojima just saying fuck it and not giving a fuck about anything just so he can shit out whatever weird statement he wants about languge.
Yeah, MGSV was Kojima clearly being tired with the franchise at that point. I mean, so was MGS4 but, by MGSV it was abundantly clear
I mean, the announcement trailer ended with four Snakes preparing to take on the flying AI mech. I remember it being a decent part of the marketing back in 2010.
That makes sense because it was a PSP game and the appeal was being able to play on the go, with friends. But nothing about the game, at least from what I played, suggested it was built to be played co-op
I'm gonna need to see how much they're cutting out of them first. There's no way either game is shipping as they initially came out, they've both got a ton of licensed shit in them
They already took Pepsi, Mountain Dew and Doritos out of the Western versions of Peace Walker.

I don't see why they'd take out the iPod from MGS4. Apple don't even make them any more. Ironic, the game's supposed to be set in 2014 and the iPod Classic was discontinued by that point
plus there's always random shit they cut out for no discernible reason like Guy Savage in the HD collection
Yeah, the reason for that was Bluepoint being shit, and not having the budget or technical ability to remaster a minigame that ran on a completely different engine.

So how the fuck are they going to get MGS4 to work on the OG Switch? If the devs can do that, then that’s absolute black magic.

The Switch also got ports of Witcher 3 and Kingdom Come. Granted, that'd be the last place I'd play either, but they were both graphical powerhouses on PC and they worked*. A lot can be done by just downscaling to 480 and murdering the draw distance and detail. Like those ultra-low graphics mods for Skyrim.

Yeah but doesn't the PS3 itself have unique architecture that makes it a nightmare to develop and port games for it?

I am curious to see if MGS4 is actually going to perform well. That game is notoriously designed to make specific use of the PS3's unorthodox hardware after all.

On the note of the story and the like being rushed alongside the questionable decisions regarding characters like Meryl and Big Boss, it is pretty much because Kojima didn't want to make the game, or at leaszt, didn't want to answer the questions brought up by MGS2, so he pretty much set out to torch the series, at least regarding Solid Snake's story. The author may be controversial, but this article does go more in-depth on the topic.

Otacon: "We have CELL architecture now Snake!! With the advanced tech of the PS3" that lines gonna need some work

Does anyone actually belive that any death threats Kojima (or any creative for that matter) get effect any of there buisness decisions? Its one of those things your hear all the time and I have to imagine not a single threat even resonates with a normal buisness man or woman. It comes off as some stock PR move that people break out to say, "Look! People are so crazy about our product we even get death threats if we think about stopping."

Like I know crazy people exists but I refuse to belive anyone even cares, it all sounds fake and gay.

I generally feel like most "death threats" are just online retards saying "I hope you get shot" or "Someone should kill you". Just very vague messages that were commonplace on 2009 Xbox live. They never end up posting examples of alleged death threats other than saying they got them probably because they realize how stupid they are.

I can't wait for the modders to have to fix it again. :story:

stalkers in Japan are built different.

for example, 2 idols got almost their hands cut off when a stalker brings a machete to cut of their arms during a fan meet and shake hands event. there's even that Kyoto animation arson and they received 200 death threats before it happened.

it is always better safe than sorry with jap fans, you never know what is their boiling point and what they are capable of

Since we're airing grievances about 4 I think the OctoCamo was bad for gameplay. People complained about having to open the menu to change camo in 3 but in my experience it meant you had to choose the outfit that was best for the environment as a whole. It also made you consider your movement and base your position on your equipped outfit, rather than the other way around. Even if it was unintentional by the developers, it added a layer to the camo system.

With OctoCamo, it's just move a few feet, pause, move another few feet, pause etc.. You can select appearance manually, but there is no point. Hot take maybe but in trying to streamline the camo system they just ended up making gameplay more tedious.

The stripping down of optional Codecs also worked against the game. Yes, there were far too many Codec calls in 2 but the optional ones gave the game a lot of flavor and it wasn't noticeable until it was gone in 4. No Mei Ling quotes, no YOUR ROOM WAS EMPTY YOU MONSTER, nothing. Even in 3 where the support team were cartoon characters it was still fun to call up and listen to Snake and Sigint talk about guns or whatever.

You know why they cut those? Because writing them was Tomokazu Fukushima's job
no YOUR ROOM WAS EMPTY YOU MONSTER
That wasn't optional, though

I imagine that death threats, like anything, really just give people an excuse to do what they wanted to do anyway. So yeah, maybe Kojima was burned out doing Metal Gear and thought about stepping aside for MGS4, but also he has massive Orson Welles syndrome so he couldn't help not direct it, either. The death threats and fan backlash just gave him an excuse.

I saw on twatter, that after mgs4 came out, that Hideo and Vince Zampala (creator of CoD and the best medal of honor) meet up and talked about making a mgs FPS.
If only.
