They announced it being with Volume 2Do either of the collections include MGS Ghost Babel from the Game Boy Color?
I really hope they include an option to skip the cutscenes. I have fond memories of 4, but there’s a point where you don’t need see the bits on the plane anymore.I really love MGS4. It's not the best one, but I still love it
Honestly, the sandbox is much more fun once you mod it into 5 than GZ itself, but finally being able to play the prologue as an actual mission might just get me to come back to the game. The entirety of Ground Zeroes - the in engine cutscenes included - has now been modded fully by fans into MGSV as a single mission. Prior to this, the prison map was fully playable as a sandbox, but this is a new, full thing.

This is what it always should've been, quite frankly.

MGS4 has some very interesting gameplay mechanics, but barely any of them are ever elaborated on. The game feels like a tech demo, which I guess it really is, none of the others feel like that, not even MGS2. There was a time an Xbox kid like me would kill for a MGS4 port, that time is now gone because the story in that game is so retarded that I can't enjoy it even from a more casual point of view(something I can do with likes of Peace Walker or 5, hell even Survive).I really hope they include an option to skip the cutscenes. I have fond memories of 4, but there’s a point where you don’t need see the bits on the plane anymore.
You could skip those in the original game. They don't need to add it inI really hope they include an option to skip the cutscenes. I have fond memories of 4, but there’s a point where you don’t need see the bits on the plane anymore.
The irony of going for 100% GZ on console the night before seeing this lolThe entirety of Ground Zeroes - the in engine cutscenes included - has now been modded fully by fans into MGSV as a single mission. Prior to this, the prison map was fully playable as a sandbox, but this is a new, full thing.
If I remember correctly, there is also a mod that gives you the ability to recruit the 4 boss characters from the original MSX game, which would mean that 5 is essentially the story of how Big Boss made them join Outer Heaven. No such luck for the bosses from MG2, unfortunately.Recently reinstalled MGSV for the first time in years. Originally beat it on PS3 then bought it for PC for the mods but didn't bother because I'm a retard so it sat in my library for years untouched.
Most of the mods I installed are cosmetic shit but the big game changer is Infinite Heaven, it's pretty neat how you can basically completely randomize your experience in free roam. Random patrol routes, guard patrols that move base to base, new vehicles, you can even have an enemy helicopter constantly patrolling the landscape.
On top of all that you can have random events that happen like a crash landing which drops you on a random part of the map with no gear and it disables all nearby helicopter points basically forcing you to go the distance for extraction.
Or the skulls can just randomly attack you while you're doing something, ect.
It makes free roam gameplay a lot more interesting. You can also have these happen in missions too but I only have the mod stuff activated for free roam because I don't want to break missions. It makes things a lot more unpredictable.
Having fun so far.
I also found a mod that replaces the low-poly MGS1 Solid Snake costume with a model based on Snake's appearance in the original Metal Gears for MSX which I thought was really charming.

Interesting. You happen to remember what it was called? Might grab it actually. I'm a sucker for that kind of shit.If I remember correctly, there is also a mod that gives you the ability to recruit the 4 boss characters from the original MSX game, which would mean that 5 is essentially the story of how Big Boss made them join Outer Heaven. Guess my memory of it is worse off than I remember. Haven’t played since my first ps3 died. You could skip those in the original game. They don't need to add it in
It's impossible to get Big Boss rank on Extreme if you watch all the cutscenes.
My memory of it is a little bit hazy myself. I'm not sure if you can skip the sections on the plane where you can control the Mark II (or Mark III). But you can definitely skip all the cutscenes.Guess my memory of it is worse off than I remember. Haven’t played since my first ps3 died.
You've always been able to skip them...? Also a patch late into the ps3's life allowed you to install all 5 chapters at once to skip the smoking animationsI really hope they include an option to skip the cutscenes. No, I am talking about this modInteresting. You happen to remember what it was called? Might grab it actually. I'm a sucker for that kind of shit.
EDIT: The closest thing I found was a mod for Infinite Heaven that lets you turn MB staff or enemy soldiers into MG1 Outer Heaven guards or MG2 Zanzibar Land guards.
There was a Shotmaker and Machinegun Kid costume for the player but no NPCs.

Now I can pretend I'm infiltrating Outer Heaven in 1995!
EDIT 2: Actually considering the fact that modding is continuing to advance to the point we've now ported Ground Zeroes into MGSV, I wonder how long until they do something like trying to mod back in the cut final chapter, or hell recreating/porting maps from other games like imagine Shadow Moses in MGSV, even if it's just a sandbox map to fuck around in. Some maniac could even try recreating MG1 or MG2. I'd play that shit if someone did.

Fans doing what kojima could not and Konami would rather forget aboutNot only do you get 4 rather unique recruit missions(each soldier acts as a miniboss), but each one has their own abilities if you recruit them, making them something of a playable supersoldier recruit as opposed to just being your average, everyday john or jane doe you get from the field. Also includes a few other easter eggs for fans of the MSX games to truly make this feel like a prequel to the original title.
It was also the trophy patchYou've always been able to skip them...? Also a patch late into the ps3's life allowed you to install all 5 chapters at once to skip the smoking animations
Yes.Is MGS4 really coming to steam?
I wonder if they saw the PCS3 version coming to completion and didn't want to miss their cut. Wonder if there will be any graphical updates?
