I love the Prime trillogy so much, remember the 100% ending on 3, teasing a possible sequel. And now 18 years later said sequel is finally here and its filled with faggot reddit dialogue and hand holding mechanics... yeah I'll just pretend this game never existed.

This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I actually liked the Fed troopers in 3. They made the world feel bigger, more "real", and never really interrupted gameplay. I also liked how they were characterized. They had little to say, were quick and professional. They felt how futuristic sci-fi soldiers should feel. I remember early on in the game there's a trooper you can talk to who's fixing a control panel or something. I don't remember the exact line but it was something along the lines of "Hey Samus Aran, I get you're a big deal and all, but as you can clearly see I'm busy. So stop bothering me." It was a real minor thing but I really liked that interaction, because it makes perfect sense. We're in an active war zone, we all got shit to do stop trying to make small talk. I also liked how the troopers weren't really all that impressed with Samus either. Which again makes sense. These guys have seen shape shifting aliens, giant mechs and a cyborg dragon all in the span of one day, Samus is tame in comparison.
I completely agree, I really liked the GFed in Prime 3. It was the climax of the trilogy, and Samus ended up leading them to >War<. It needed at least some increase in scope. And everything I already mentioned previously just made them utilitarian and cool.

First time?

Yeah that's what I am hearing; Eden is the same from what I see online.

People who want to emulate are going to have to wait for dev builds.

Is it just me or do all the positive reviews seem really defensive like they are almost downplaying all the criticisms of the preview coverage while also kinda admitting the validity of them.
They have to.
Because people are being cynical online and calling the game dogshit. They have to act positive because if the audience thinks its shit they have to defend their friends who made the shit even if it is shit. Because they all hate gamers end of the day for not glazing them all.

Great, now how much did each of those games sell? Let's compare that to the numbers BOTW and Pokemon SV brought to the table. Nintendo knows what sells, they're going to move these franchises into the modern day cancer of DLC bananza/DEI/Open World eventually because that's what makes them money. Or at least that's what they think makes them money now.
Except for Bayonetta 3, all of these games met or exceeded their sales expectations. If Nintendo looked at sales numbers the way you imagine they do, they would have changed their business model to be more like EA or Take-Two years ago, but that’s not the case. Nintendo makes games as if they are the only publisher making games for their systems. It is not even close to realistic to expect that they’ll turn every project into a 5-year development cycle on the basis of two games that were naturally going to become open world games as the tech improved.

I've reached the second major area and the game is giving off a weird vibe, idk how exactly to describe it but it feels like ai generated but not really, like its lacking identity or something. I also do kind of like the large expansive areas just for the vibe, but I think those are contributing to the off feeling of it. It certainly feels alien, which if they were going for this feeling I'm failing to describe then they did a good job

Some Japanese studios are 10-15 years behind the West. They're now approaching the cancerous state we did towards the end of 7th gen/start of 8th gen, and it will take them a while to follow in our hubris too. Nintendo is a business first and foremost, and when they see slop making money, they will churn out more slop. Not like Nintendo fans are connoisseurs or anything like that, if they see a big bing-bing wahoo IP they will blindly buy it anyways. Everyone else who already bought a Switch will too, what are they gonna just let it collect dust? Sunk cost fallacy at it's finest.
Well at least Halo fans are going to have drinking buddies real soon.
Chief and Samus drinking round after round in a run down bar, I can already picture it

You are forgetting this part:

Nintendo makes games as if they are the only publisher making games for their systems.
It makes no sense for Nintendo to bloat their development cycles to the point that they are putting out 3 games a year because of trying to make every game big. For some Nintendo games, they are putting the money and dev time into making a big game. For the rest, they are on smaller budgets and timelines because they can’t afford to rely on 3rd parties to pick up the slack for them.

The Unpaid PR Defense Force has already come out with takes like "Um, people are saying the dialogue sounds like Reddit/MCU slop but...I don't know, it's just someone excited to meet Samus!" and pretending they're confused that people may not care for that sort of generic Borderlands/MCU style of writing in Metroid. Apparently, you're a freak for thinking this sticks out like a sore thumb, the zany guy or the female soldier quirkily soyfacing over meeting Samus are speaking totally naturalistic-sounding dialogue and also you don't actually play Metroid., it is you who are the "fake gamers".

If your favorite gaming franchise's latest installment has an unpaid defense force popping up consisting of useless people like "Youtubers/Podcasters" whose videos/podcasts have garnered 30 total lifetime views, usually with names like "TheSuperGamerMaster" or "TheXboxFighterzLegion" that might be one small sign the franchise is done.

There was also dialogue of random soldiers talking about Samus as if she was some sort of legend in Metroid Prime 2. Guess what, that didn't devolve into reddit writing filled with random quips, in fact that entire game was kind of dark.
This reminds me of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 situation, a legion of "fans", many of which never played the first game, that defend it tooth and nail for maybe a month before everyone(they included) forgot about it and moved on to the next big thing. Dare I say, 18 years of waiting only to end up as "slop of the month"?

It's such a funny mission because while the game says the objective is to escort him, the reality is he's escorting you, he's disappointed that Magnus didn't show up to the fight, and he one shots a Heldrake by chucking a giant statue at it with his one arm.
Yeah, that sounds like the giant robot in the end of Mother. Escorting someone who's much more powerful is fun, at least.

I've been disillusioned with the quality of Nintendo's output since the switch era but I will be giving this game a chance given how long I've had to wait to play it. I haven't played any of their games since F-zero 99 and part of me wants to believe that I can still enjoy their games. The writting on prime 4 looks awful but I can look over that if the gameplay delivers. Fingers crossed.

I'm still moderately likely to pick up prime 4 but the writing and cutscenes I've seen so far are bad, bad, bad and Retro is likely dead to me. How is there no one with any taste in storytelling at Nintendo
