I really hope that the trend of how Dread did the ending screens doesn't become recurring, though it seems as though Prime 4 does the same thing (unless 100% completion changes it). But at least it'll make these people happy.

Allow me to publicly bitch again about how these fuckers have writing jobs and I don't. I'm fucking sickened by how anyone with any talent is forced out by the spiteful fucking hacks. It so often feels like people who actually like whatever the project is are actively selected against.

The writing industry in every single regard is fucked. Anyone who can actually write that wants a job in it or wants something published without it fading into the ether day 1 has to know some or has to be extremely lucky. It's fucked, but it has done wondered towards my own motivation out of spite.

You could remove the NPCs and the game would play the exact same, except it would also be more tolerable, I guarantee they were added in the time between the gameplay reveal and now for modern audience purposes. So far the levels are basically completely linear with zero loopbacks or overlapping areas and no actual puzzles, I'm hoping that the game opens up in the latter half but that won't change the levels being super large and spread apart with zero interconnections. It's not a Metroid Prime game, I was hoping the people comparing the empty desert (I cannot overstate how big and how empty it is) to Ocarina of Time meant the game played more like a Zelda game, but its too braindead for that. I guess the modern audience is incapable of having mental maps of areas needed for dungeon like level navigation, compare playing Prime 2 with both a highly interconnected dense world and a second dimension layer, to this, and its just pathetic and sad.

I've only completed two areas so far and I started the third before stopping, you can do the last (?) 3 areas in any order according to the NPC (who keeps popping up and taking control away from me, there is even a phone him button in the map they could have used instead of forcing him), and based on the scans I've seen in the first two areas it seems like the backtracking will be getting a specific item from one of the three worlds and then going back to the other to get something to progress again, and if you can do them in any order that means there won't be stacking ability puzzles in the 3 areas until you complete all the areas, at which point I don't know if that is the end of the game or not.

The story stuff outside of the reddit NPCs is like the most generic Metroid Prime ancient civilization chosen one plot they could come up with, feels like Prime 2 with the NPC (Hologram in this) asking for your help, but Prime 2 felt connected together and each region felt like the same world, in this each region is completely different and they are describing some lore thing about the civilization going through multiple "stages", such as the "Machine Era" to the "Psychic Era", and the two worlds I went to were Psychic and Machine era respectively, completely different design language and all that.

Upgrades have been very boring so far, you get the psychic visor that replaces your scan visor (it seems like there are no other visors in this game, which sucks. Also the scan visor has no differentiation between logbook scans and normal scans, the only different color is objects that need to be scanned to be activated, and there is no more computer voice that says "Recording to logbook"), then all the other psychic upgrades are just the regular Prime 1 upgrades but purple, like Psychic boots that let you climb on psychic platforms that you can make appear when you scan them, but its also space jump, or psychic bombs for your morph ball that has a very clunky way of controlling with the psychic visor, but its also just morph ball bombs. The ugly red suit is just there because they thought it was cool, you get it to be able to drive the motorcycle, which you then have to do a racing minigame in a simulator to get a license for it, and theres a mario kart end of level cutscene and everything.

It feels like they had a whiteboard where they just wrote what they thought was cool shit, because Metroid is apparently about cool shit, and then threw it all in the game without caring about cohesion with the rest of the series or anything, and then made Halo 4 but with Metroid elements. Again I've only played two of the 5 areas so far, this is just my opinions after a couple hours, I'll post updates.

wtf is she talking about, the zero suit is still shown as the final ending reward for Dread. Unsurprisingly, people who say shit like this don't even play the fucking games
No no, it's specifically doing the thing where they warp the trivia of the ending of metroid 1 having various outfits (and poses) depending on how fast you beat the game as a little neat feature into some "past bad mean scary toxic mistake! GET RID OF IT GET RID OF IT NOBODY SHOULD HAVE LIKED OLD THING IT BAD TOXIC MEAN AAAA"
Image search brings up a few instances of this chart, it's kind of funny if you take too long samus just looks exhausted or embarrased.

Caught up. I was afraid the NPCs would always annoy us and I was right. I might be being hyperbolic, but the ideal amount of dialog in Metroid is zero, as far as I'm concerned. I put up with Adam in Fusion because they were trying something new and it had been eight or so years since Super. I put up with the NPCs in 2 and 3 because they showed up, said their piece, and fucked off. The escort mission in 3 was also mercifully short. But hand-holdy NPCs do not belong in Metroid. I'm not even pirating this, I'll just replay the trilogy hack and pretend 3 doesn't have a sequel teaser.

Too many Metroid Prime 4 reviews read like “MP4 is mostly like the classic Metroid games you remember except for this detailed list of really un-Metroid-like traits that stick out like sore thumbs and will annoy you throughout the entire game. Also, the game has an incredibly tacked-on open world. My rating: 4.5/5.”

I've reached the second major area and the game is giving off a weird vibe, idk how exactly to describe it but it feels like ai generated but not really, like its lacking identity or something. I also do kind of like the large expansive areas just for the vibe, but I think those are contributing to the off feeling of it. It certainly feels alien, which if they were going for this feeling I'm failing to describe then they did a good job
Copying what other people have done and not understanding the methodology behind it vs AI which copies what it sees and tries to replicate it without any real understanding. There's not much of a difference if they're both awful besides one of them costing a ton more and taking longer.

See my above response, except now add human malice towards gamers to it.

Does Sylux even do anything cool or is he a case of "Hey guys, remember me?" then proceeds to fuck off till the end of the game if he even shows up again?
He showed up as a miniboss but it was actually a robot with a hologram, every boss fight is basically the same thing where you shoot a weak spot, it makes a shockwave and you have to dodge for a bit

That's... remarkably disappointing. Like everything else, it sounds like, about Prime 4. Goddamn, and to think, they scrapped the previous build for this.

They hired the script writer of the 2nd season of GEN:LOCK... THEY HIRED THE SCRIPT WRITER OF FUCKING GENLOCK?! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?! This is so much worse than I could've imagined. How the hell do you not get black listed across industries for being responsible for that absolute DUMPSTERFIRE of a story?!
She was probably hired because both her and Koen share a connection at rooster teeth despite seemingly not working there at the same time.
