Microsoft buys Bethesda for 7.5 billion.

Why is Dishonored 2 leaving game pass PC when they literally own the game themselves now?

They were cut because (allegedly) their voices sounded terrible once they were run through the synthetizer used for all securitrons. They are referenced by Veronica in one of her sarcastic quips though: "What did you think of Mr. House? I was surprised he only had the two robot sex slaves,"

That's... not at all what I was talking about.

I've always associated the two anyway ever since playing Morrowind and Oblivion on the Xbox and Xbox 360.

So long as their games still come to PC I don't really care and wasn't it obvious that Bethesda needed a management shake up anyway?

I do hope though if not a sequel we at least get a remaster of New Vegas.

As long as their games aren't as buggy anymore instead of having to rely on fan patches, I'll be fine with this.

Wow, that means that Microsoft now has two characters in Smash Bros lol.

Yes, that's my unique takeaway, because I'm way too late to this news.

Welp, guess I'm not getting Elder Scrolls VI

I usually go for Playstation (though I'm unsure about PS5) and I'm too much of a poorfag for PC gaming. Even building a gaming PC from scratch is expensive for my tastes and it always has to be updated if you want to play AAA games.

Plus I've noticed PC gaming is a hotbed of pretentious snobs, though it's better than Nintendo fans

I wonder if this is going to affect Starfield at all. I believe it's still in pre-production since they're still working at 76. Are there any good mainstream or even indie rpgs out right now? I've played the Outer Worlds and the cringy fighting capitalistic overlords story really bored me, not to mention the weird meme-esque dialog choices you could make. The combat was also terrible to me. It felt extremely slow and maybe swamp-like? Who knows, though, since they're owned by microsoft and have a bigger budget, maybe their next game will have a better story and hopefully be built better.

just nuke microsoft and all the other shitty big tech companies

I never even gave a shit about Minecraft (other than griefing) but I'm still pissed that Notch handed it over to them.

You do know that Bethesda has made games BEFORE the acquisition, right? Arkane, MachineGames, and ID are well tested and Tango along with Beth Gameworks have people like Shinji Mikami and Todd Howard, who atleast know how to get people to get their wallets out. Lies nonwithstanding.

arkane's recent games flopped, wolfenstein is dead thanks to machinegames' sjw-wank, only thing they got is ID with doom. no one even talks about rage anymore.
look at this way: if bethesda was so successful with their games, why sell? most of their stuff was mildly successful, with some exceptions, but a lot of bombs. what bethesda got is a huge list of IPs, but if microsoft doesn't properly utilize it, it means nothing.

gameworks is a joker, however: most normies equal elder scrolls with skyrim. if ES6 isn't skyrim 2, we gonna have to wait and see how much people will like it. and that's if they don't gut the one reason people like it so much in the first place, it's modding ability. people shit on the creation engine, but beth's lazyness in using that engine made it possible for modders to dig deep into it. if that changes you end up with something like witcher 3, which was a huge commercial and critical success but people moved on, whereas skyrim (fallout to an extend) still sells due to their open nature.

and all of that doesn't means squat if they let their studios run wild, how much money did they spend on 343 and pump into the halo franchise, and where is it now? nostalgia only sells so much, and even then the game still needs to hit a certain level of quality and appeal to the old fans, see battletoads. bethesda's catalog is worthless if they fuck it up, and it's microsoft we're talking about.

Supposedly MS will honor Bethesda's commitments to Sony, but new releases afterwards are on a case by case basis.

what "commitment" is there to "honor"? there's a contract with ironclad terms, anything else is just fancy PR speak. there's no good guy microsoft, because I highly doubt sony is getting blindsided by "lol we got bought out you get jack shit, thanks for the money suckers" considering how long they've been in the business.

"case by case" is PR speak too, MS didn't pay that mountain of cash to publish on a competing platform. any number MS would want for it (if they even consider it) is most likely too high for sony so it's basically worthless to go that route.

You need to sign into your windows account to start playing, would you like to link this with your Xbox account, you'll get 1 month of GamePass free*.

I mean they'll just leave the Bethesda.net launcher alone and it will most definitely not be rebranded and have subscription bullshit and Microsoft office shit shoved in there.

that's already the case for their games on steam (according to the store page). they most likely are gonna merge them at one point to get people onto their platform and the windows store. I just hope they leave ESO alone since migrating that will be a clusterfuck.

not sure if you need the app or the store for the game pass, but I'd assume so.

I can't see Microsoft not allowing Bethesda games on steam, TBH. I mean, the age of empires 1 and 2 remakes are on there, the Halo PC remasters are on there, probably some other Microsoft games are on there that I'm forgetting, the real problem is possible windows account integration bullshit and how that might affect mods for Elder Scrolls and Fallout titles going forward.

hope they leave the FO3/NV remake mods alone
Also, what this guy said, but including the Morrowind and Oblivion remakes for Skyrim as well, and that really ambitious Beyond Skyrim project too.

Here's MS's Steam games listings. The new Flight Sim, the older Flight Sim X, Sea of Thieves, Grounded, a whole bunch of old and new crap. They don't seem to have any objection to releasing stuff on Steam.

I got my PC right about the same time the PS4 came out, and it's just now getting about time for me to upgrade my hardware to play some of the newer AAA games. It's going to cost me about 200 bucks to upgrade it since I just need a better GPU (have plenty of RAM), and chances are I'll be good until the PS6 comes out. The PS5 is going to be about 500 bucks from what I've seen, and it normally takes years for AAA console games to ever come down from 60 bucks, whereas often times on Steam you'll see AAA games be put on sale at 40 bucks day one. That's assuming they're not releasing around Christmas time, where you'll sometimes see them hit with random 90% sales.

Reminder that Microsoft is a convicted monopolist that spent 20+ years trying to destroy open source development and pioneered such "innovations" as "embrace, extend, extinguish" and "fear, uncertainty and doubt." They're also patent trolls. When they can't compete technologically (which is often), they acquire competitors or try to crush them. Their most well-known, popular and successful product -- Windows -- is singlehandedly responsible for more hacks, data thefts, viruses, botnets and outages than any other software product ever created by mankind. And despite its declining quality, the company has all but eliminated its internal QA department for it and now relies entirely on beta testers to find problems. And even then, bugs like "automatically deletes all your documents irretrievably" still make it out into the wild during mandatory, unskippable updates.

The chances of anything produced by any ZeniMax company acquired in this purchase actually improving under Microsoft's influence are exactly zero.

You left out that the company that created Bonzi Buddy now works as a subsidiary for Microsoft itself.

They hire actual malware(even if abit accidental) developers to do shit for them.
