Mike David / Red Bar Radio / Jules Felker David - "Where we at with Red Bar?"

I don't really give a shit if Mike scammed some fans when I was in middle school. Those guys (Fritz, etc) sound like a bunch of unfunny faggots. And saying Redbar was best 15+ years ago just makes you seem out of touch. It's pretty obvious 2018 through the year disappearance was the peak Redbar, I don't think that is a controversial statement. I really don't know what boomer brain disorder the "2007 redbar was peak" people have. You're just objectively wrong.
Extremely silly question but would postal orders be accepted from the UK?
Wrong thread

Those guys were definitely unfunny, and so was Red Bar Radio and Mike as a whole at that time, but that doesn't justify stealing money from retarded listeners. An Internet show this old and this scummy has burned a lot of bridges along the way, with a cutthroat host and listeners/co-hosts coming and going, so it's worth talking about for context and history.

raisinlove was probably an adult when he listened during those days, has nostalgic feelings for that time and might simply prefer the O&A format of "comedians" hanging out in a studio.

Personally, I like the 2015-2016 episodes best.

Have any of you guys ever been in the BBG? I joined a similar group for a smaller creator several years ago, and the amount of faggotry I was exposed to turned me off from the whole thing. I understood that the creator wasnt my friend, I just wanted to talk with some like minded people and laugh. Cant imagine the BBG is any better. I really prefer places like this to discuss a show. My guess is everybody thinks they are Redbar and tries their hardest to get attention from him or Jules.

It's worse than you could ever imagine, especially when it's been a while between epis and ANY SLIGHT growing resentment comes into contact with the very avid capos.

I can’t put words to how much I love the 2006-09 run of shows. I’ve listened to most of them 2-3 times. They’re the best for working, sleeping, driving, whatever. It’s a lot comfier and less grating than everything he’s done since the takeover, when he became a paranoid and bitter know-it-all alcoholic.

I’m glad that he eventually bounced back and saw more success, but in hindsight that second wind of quality only lasted for about three years, just like my favorite era of the show. I found little of the post-hiatus shows to be enjoyable. I’d literally turn off the stream to resume listening to vintage Mike.

Everyone wants to know why he’s dropping the ball so hard this year, so I’ll give you a hint. I believe he said it himself after the hiatus. “Without Jules, there is no Redbar….”

Yeah every once in a while I check out a Patreon comment section for a show I like, it'll be like 95% of people trying to post in the voice and tone of the show host. Weird larp people do. I'm glad KF is largely free of that. I never bothered with the BBG as I don't have a Facebook and wouldn't be submitting it for Mike's personal review if I did.

Yeah I'm in my late 40s. We used to listen to O&A at work and then when red bar was a thing in the time when dudes wouldj ust play shit on their ipods on the speakers at work I'd put it on at our work shop constantly because it was very similiar to just guys talking shit about stuff working stiffs deal with. I can't get behind the spiteful turn Mike took into isolating himself and the weird internet nerd shit he's into. I think it'd be embarrassing for anyone to introduce the show to anyone at this point becuase you'd have to be a terminally online millenial zoomer to understand who the fuck Mike is talking about half the time. Mike also used to put a ton of effort into his show with DJ Shott music and bumpers and knew how to keep the discussion tight and on topic for the most part. The guests he had on were for the most part funny or at least relatable and he even did segments, and because of that he had a good reputation until the jew in him made him money hungry and a jealous insecure pussy hound.

The closest thing to classic red bar radio nowadays is Million Dollar Extreme's Perfect Guy Life podcast because 90% of the time it's stuff normal people talk about. Cars, real estate, bitchy wives, how guineas and spics are fucking bastards who charge your left nut to repair your fucking roof, etc.

Nobody fuckin cares about some instagram reel of a comedian no one's heard of, let alone 8 fucking hours ragging on it playing the same clip and rewinding over and over. All of mike's "epic" successes these days are just picking on the worst low hanging fruit that only computer gamer teens would enjoy.

I also feel too old for current Redbar. Their targeted show demographic now seems to be zoomers and younger who are so dumb that they need the host of a show to tell them that Joe Rogan and Kill Tony suck. They cover the most popular mainstream entertainment/online culture geared toward zoomers and young millennials. I have no idea what I'm listening to and don't care about the subjects they're talking about. The gimmick of current Redbar seems to be NPC kids watching a "hip" guy their dad's age say things that their dad would never say.

Anyone got a link to the latest episode? Interested in hearing about Coachella. I am not shocked he didn't give the episode for free as a mea culpa, but my god, the sheer tenacity.

I still watched and liked it up until around 2023, but you're completely correct about more recent episodes. Someone was streaming the first episode after his long recent break and it was just slop. Pretty sure he just lets Jules plan the entire show. He usually doesn't even have a clue what the topics are going to be before he starts talking about them.

You don’t enjoy 3 hour segments of Mike “Star Of” David singing karaoke zoomer pop songs?

Man I couldnt disagree more, PGL is a very tough listen. Hyde can be funny. Nick is funny. But Hyde is either acting like hes too cool to bother half the time, or just legitamtely doesnt care about the kind of show he puts out. Its god awful. If you watch the video version you can tell its just Sam looking at his phone saying.. "yeah.....mhm..... yea", I couldnt imagine listening to the audio version. He the antithesis of Tim Heidecker in so many ways. Not talking politically either.

The slick looking studio and slick looking host mystifies their viewers into not seeing how low effort the show actually is. The show prep consists of Jules scraping the BBG writers room for content days before they go live. When they're feeling creative, they rely on buying set decorations, desk gadgets and costumes for Mike. The horrible New Years episode, where they were both clearly zooted out of their minds on something, exposed the current state of the show.

Taking long breaks between episodes to create unique segments, props and elements for the show would be understandable, but the show is just Jules giving Mike timecodes to stuff they didn't find on their own. What exactly are they doing for the thousands of hours between episodes if each episode is completely standard? They're literally not spending any time on the show and it shows.

I remembered this post while watching the newest episode they put out, I think you really nailed it. In my case I do know the subjects they're talking about, and when Mike acts like a deep Internet expert for knowing about the H3H3 podcast, Hasan Piker, Jelly Roll, and Post Malone, it's like... you sure you spend all that time online you say you do? He's been at about the same "Internet depth" for years and years and however obscure any of it may have been a decade ago, it's all now thoroughly covered by twelve other podcasts and youtube channels and multiple hate and gossip forums.

I did sympathize a lot with Mike on the last show though when he said that him and Jules spend most of their time watching and listening to shit that sucks. I think that's why shows such as his, where it's a guy roasting things, are doing so well these days. It's part of the cultural moment right now.

The horrible New Years episode
The only nu-Bar I couldn't even get through. The episode-long gimmick was just not funny.

In the recent episode Mike concludes his low-energy segment about Impulsive by trying to hype up the audience for a "shmee break" when he gets back. This is how you know he's running low on content. If I remember correctly he used to spontaneously pour glasses of Jim and say "cheers" to the listeners and the whole thing was done in a way less faggy way. It's also totally fucking grim looking at the reddit or any YouTube clip comments. His fanbase is now mostly comprised of normies. Also for a guy who used to bemoan the idea that he'd ever become famous (he's gritty and for the people guys!) he sure does like to jerk himself off with the Redbar in the Wild stuff.

I'd even say that some of his best content was from eras when he was basically a functional alcoholic on the air (~2018-2019). I guess it applied to Cumia as well who boozed his way through prime O&A many years earlier. Seems, unsurprisingly, that nobody can keep that up long-term.
