Long-time lurker here; wanted to make a post about good ol' Michael from the CCP because it was missing from the OP.
Mike's family actually has history in PA politics, specifically his mom (Karen Beyer) was an elected representative to the PA House of Representatives back in 2005 for the 131st district as a
Republican during a special election where the incumbent Patrick Browne was taking over a Senate seat from a retiring politician. She was in office from 2005-2010 where she lost her seat in the 2010 Republican primary to a new politician on the scene:
Justin Simmons.
Lets not beat around the bush here: Michael Beyer is a former
Republican. Any local media research mentions him being a former Republican in the race against Simmons in 2014. In 2014, there was not a democratic candidate against Simmons until Michael SWITCHED PARTIES TO RUN AGAINST HIM. Simmons ran unopposed in his Repub primaries and had a slam dunk easy win over lyin' Michael because he ruined his reputation by his "lawyer" experience and generally being a walking stereotype of your typical college politician.
Not only that, a lot of Mike's aggression and discrediting attitude towards younger people comes from Justin Simmons. Simmons beat Mike's mom in 2010 at 23 years old, running as a Tea Party candidate against her incumbency. Simmons' history was being involved in politics (interning for U.S. and State senators/College Republicans Pres.) compared to Meyer's background in the military and being a president of a school board. So essentially: Karen Meyer lost to a new kid on the block who was saying the right things during the rise of the Tea Party.
So we may be asking ourselves: Why didnt Michael just run for the Republican ticket and challenge Justin in the primaries? Because Mike would have gotten smoked faster and had no viable chance to beat him.
Mike tried to prey upon Simmon's weak 2012 win (he only won by ~400 votes) and a redistricting that included new areas to the 131st to try and grift his way in. But Michael apparently never did trends or any political districting research that would have told him that the new areas were HEAVILY Republican -- which made running as a Democrat a career suicide for him, let alone him swapping parties to grift into a seat.
Michael also tried to run on a similar theme to Simmon's 2010 running: a new face in the political scene trying to capsulate a counter populism political spectrum to beat the incumbent. The only issue was Michael was 30 years old, held no actual job prior to running, and lied about being a lawyer. Maybe this guy thought his last name was Kennedy or Cuomo, believing he could win based off past knowledge of his mom's elections -- but then decided to run as a Democrat when his mom was a Republican?
Theres a lot of rumors and dirt revolving around Mike's failed campaign and the fact that he still carries it around its hilarious -- and the fact that none of the Twitch Left have looked into it should tell you how bankrupt in morals they are.
To summarize: Mike from PA's entire political background was a grift to re-obtain a seat that his mom lost and a lot of his autistic behavior stems from eating a massive shit-ton of crow from being exposed as a fake lawyer who had no real experience with politics or law and was only running out of spite/retribution.
