As an old millennial, boomers killed the economy, millennials killed the culture.
Yeah, this a million times over. We had culture handed to us on a silver platter. Vibes were immaculate. Edgy was winning out over Christian stuffiness (remember when the censors were the Christians? lmfao). Eminem embodied the speech-forward ethos. Online gaming treated "R" ratings as real and allowed players to curse each other out in multiplayer.

But millennial men weren't observant. The internet stopped being nerdy dudes, and Tumblr was happening. Fanfic culture, hypochondria, hyper-identitarianism, and the rise of "problematic". We let Gen X women, who had been given the world (in 1981 women started outearning men in college degrees), cope and seethe to themselves and, seeing younger versions of themselves, accelerated Tumblr culture into the mainstream via Gawker.

Suddenly, circa 2013, Tumblr culture popped up everywhere. Somewhat slowly at first, then all at once. In 2014 Facebook added 50 new genders and Michael Brown got shot while charging a police officer while simultaneously screaming "hands up dont shoot" or something. Suddenly (only) Black Lives Mattered.

But the internet wasn't totally on board. It was the "SJWs" and the popular voices at the time were anti-SJW. It was the era of FilthyFrank. Reddit was still right-leaning, and /r/circlejerk was incredible in the lead up to the 2016 elections. Clinton was corporate scum, and Bernie (who was not identitarian at all back then, but class focused) had the millenial vote.

When Trump won, we saw everything change. 23-30 year old women who now ran the marketing departments of the F500 companies suddenly started pushing the buttons on where ad dollars could go. The answer? To abandon mass market ad penetration and focus on their pet projects. Ellen Pao had shown them the way with Reddit. You can just... tell tech companies to censor things you disagree with. Truly the holy-grail of millenial women-cope. Pewdiepie was already toeing the line by flipping off the media with their spin about him being a Nazi -- all he had to do was not say nigger.

Suddenly everything millenial women (and to some extent Gen X women, but I think they eventually became afraid of being cancelled by the more radial younger cohort) wanted to ban online was misinformation and disinformation. The "Alt-Right pipeline".

And it largely has continued until 2023ish, Elon buying twitter helped. But it took many months for him to finally realize the devil in the details was the trust and safety team. We have seen some movement back towards normalcy, but the UK is gladly leading the charge forward in censorship and mandated culture.

The world would be so much better if we could rewind the clock before millennials gave away the house on culture. Us millennials saw free speech, and then let the most neurotic among us decide that was not something that could be tolerated.

And while we have been focused on culture, Boomers have looted the vaults and left nothing for us. All we can do is hope for swift Boomer death and that the fallout of the inequality generated under their policies doesn't murder us all with the great wealth transfer. Alex Soros sends his retards -- sorry -- his regards.

"The GWOT and great recession were the worst events that humanity (see: university-educated super geniuses such as myself) have ever experienced, and anything of the sort must not be allowed to happen again at all costs, even if it means the death of western civilization as we know it (which would be a good thing, actually)" is the default millennial mindset and you cannot convince me otherwise.

I always had the impression about millennials that they are just lesser boomers. I know that they grew up during the times when shit started to go downhill, but come on, they still had it really easy compared to zoomers. They lived in a world where things were still calm, everything wasn't so polarized, and there was still some kind of hope and optimism, and they only perpetuated downfall. They, along with boomers, are the quintessential "Me! Me! Me!" generations.

A large swath of millennials are obnoxious and entitled, but I have to ask: who raised them? Why is Gen X getting a pass when they raised snot nosed, entitled brats? That doesn't magically appear out of nowhere. Then the bratty millennials created the even worse Gen Z, which is creating Gen Alpha.
This is all multi-generational parental failures. Some people are trying to break these trends, some succeed, some fail. But shitting on an entire generation without asking who helped create that generation isn't really addressing the problem. Humans are inherently flawed. Its up to each of us to be the changes we want to see take place in our world, one person at a time.

Most of the Millennials were raised by Baby Boomers.

Gen Z's were raised by Generation X, and Gen Alpha was raised by Millennials.

You got it all mixed up buddy.
