Minecraft

That is the best way to describe all of the performance enchaining mods
Yeah every single modern performance mod and it's fork is named after some sort of chemical element. Sodium, Lithium, Phosphor, or even made up ones like Embeddium. Really uncreative names compared to OptiFine or FoamFix that were at least unique and recognizable. You're making optimization mods, not GregTech addons, name your shit right.

It's funny how many times a snapshot introduces a bug and then the next one claims to fix it but it isn't actually fixed. The fuck do they even test?

Then you've got shit like this:
*Unfences your fence* Although to be fair I'm fine with the bug in the first video, trolling is a timeless art after all. The second one is...fascinating. Years apart and they feel like the same video.

Looking into some of the crap happening in the GregTech community, and....wow. I thought PVP faction servers had the worst groups. Gregtech-centered communities are filled with some of the most sweaty and down right autistic people I've seen on MC in a long while.
Please share your findings with us.

The groups in Igobylotsofnames's event's for example. Some of them have some....interesting people, you could say the least.

One of the groups (The PGS) had a member claiming to work at CERN, who was also incredibly high of himself and autistic. There was also a case of a member simping for an underage tranny apparently.

One of the original founders of the faction made a set of videos on the faction's history from his perspective. Here's the link to part 5, the description has a link to the full playlist:

Does anyone know the best setup to play Beta 1.7.3 with QOL mods and bug fixes, preferably multiplayer compatible? Better Than Adventure adds way too much and now they've started copying features from modern Minecraft like a deepslate layer and multiple stone types and raw ores, which are antithetical to the whole beta vibe. Back2Beta seems pretty good but it's custom server jar throws a bunch of nasty errors when I try and run Bukkit Essentials, and it's missing Optifine features. I've seen there is now Fabric for Beta, for some reason, but I can't find anything about running a server with it, and I also can't figure out if there are even mods that fix all the things I want. You can't even escape the multiple modloader bullshit by going back to Beta it seems.

For now I just have my server running the Project Poseidon Bukkit fork unmodded, and its working fine, and then I just use a bunch of client jarmods to fix stuff client side, but that doesn't fix the incorrect material types on blocks, slabs being unwieldy and annoying, and the nightmare sleep bug among others.

This is something I'm interested in too, since from my times modding Beta to today a lot has changed, and a lot got broken, like skins. That, and perhaps people have found ways to make Beta modding less painful. I know there's the BetaCraft launcher that has it's own fixes, but there are also mods to load via MultiMC which helps out with other aspects of Beta modding. The main issue is that there is no central mod hub for this shit like Curseforge.

I've been using this MultiMC instance for client side fixes. It fixes skins, adds an FOV slider, has the correct Optifine, fixes the depth buffer bug, adds modern inventory mouse stuff, and has a singleplayer mod that fixes the slabs and stuff.
Make sure you disable AnnoyanceFix if you are joining a server, since it changes block materials and can cause ghost blocks. I think you can fix skins alone without a mod just by adding the Betacraft proxy to your java arguments in MultiMC:
Code:
"-Dhttp.proxyHost=betacraft.uk"

I also dropped in Rei's Minimap, which I've attached, you can just add it as a loader mod, and there are massive archives of beta mods here:

But the problem with this is that its not server side, so if I want to play multiplayer I lose out on a lot of the gameplay fixes, and I don't want to use the janky LAN option.

Thumbnail alone, fuckin' hell.
Some heavy 2b2t exploit autism. Excuse the bald sensational faggot video, it popped up in the YT algo while I was taking a shit.
Minecraft still amazes me with the level of exploitation that people keep uncovering. One single line of code did this, if this doesn't perfectly describe coding as a whole...

What do you think the definitive version of Minecraft is? I say 1.6.4
In my opinion it's 1.12.2 - has similar feeling to 1.7.10 with it being a "mod paradise", but at the same time has some more modern vanilla utilities, without being retarded like current versions are.
(AFAIK the better features of newer versions had been backported as mods)

1.12.2 is post Elytra boosting and Totem of Undying, so it has the same unbalanced nature as the later versions, just without being further unbalanced with Netherite and raid farms. I think the most balanced version is probably Beta 1.7.3, before sprint made hostile mobs not a threat. but for definitive post release version it's probably 1.7 or 1.8, before the combat changes, Shulker boxes and mending destroyed what was left of game balance. But 1.8 also changed how enchanting works, changing the 30 levels per enchant to only 3 levels over level 30 and requiring lapis.

I've tried a couple of times to do my own balancing of the game through mods and data packs, but there aren't really any mods to remove features and I can't be bothered to learn Java to write my own. It's even worse if you try and un-retard the new versions because of the Fabric/Forge split.

1.12.2
thats mostly because out of all the newest versions its the most stable and there a shit tons of mods for that version, no supprise its pretty popular
PvP fags would probably also argue 1.8.9
and 1.7.10 and 1.6.4 for anything older
if of course your a true classic fan:
slowly working on the castle, just updated to 1.20.4 after my QoL mods updated

Bit late on the reply, but I like what you're going for, damn I gotta git gud on building.
Thanks, mostly I'm digging out rooms at the moment, getting a general shape of things before I start adding machines and aesthetics.
The goal is to have everything you would expect a big castle to have as well as lots of different farms connected to a big main storage room.
I don't plan on deviating much in my block palate so I can keep everything relatively consistent.

Here's a link of my structure world, might give you some ideas of what you can build: Google Drive Link

Cheers man, will check it out. I'll get better one day...

Saw a video now that Better than Adventure is releasing nightly beta patches now or something. Of course they dicked it up with stackable food, might as well just mod the modern version. Anybody know some non-balls servers for the older versions? I would say that this thread needs a b1.7.3 server, but that would get three players.
