Minecraft

pure vanilla m8. I do have some QoL mods installed but no new items/blocks.
So yea, it was all by hand. Gathering the dirt, AFKing at wood and exp farms for tools, smoothing out the land raising the water level by 10 blocks with ice. all done by hand
I have a style in my builds and want to keep it consistant, avoiding block vomit while keeping things somewhat interesting is the goal

True fuckin' man right here, doing the Lord's work by hand, not with the tools of the Devil! Anyway, nice work man. That's some talent you got there, I'm liking the vision.
I see base builds like this often in /mmcg/, well, the machine part at least. Everything else makes me jealous I don't have the time or ability ot make even a nice simple structure.

I've gotten a bunch of builds off/on for the last 10 years on the same save, for the last while just drop in and spruce/decorate stuff up from the very spartan/plain build style. Next up is doing the underground rails in a fancier metro style. Though at this point its something like 40 km of rails in the survival world. I build double rails so half that. still going to be alot.

Making a fully functional vanilla item sorter was an actually enjoyable time waster.

Not only is it quiet, but it's also been negative in here. Understandable given the shit that's been going on with Minecraft and modding. So how about this, what's your favorite mod and why?
Hmm, maybe redpower 2. Making factories with IC2 and equivalent exchange was fun for me back in the day. Admittedly I didn't really go further than the pipes/pumps. The clones (e.g. project red) only implement half the mod (no pipes) from what I remember. Too bad it's the most closed source mod in existence.

If I had to pick a mod that's... actually maintained, maybe create? It's fun to play around with, but youtuber nonsense and being shoved into every modpack puts me off it a little bit. It kinda annoys me that they also changed whitelist/blacklist to "allow-list"/"deny-list" for no reason. Still fun though.

I don't mean to come across as a complete dumbass, but is there a way to play a version of Minecraft not tied to Microshit and Nu-Mojang? I've been feeling kinda nostalgic for the old days of 1.3/1.4 and I technically switched my old Mojang account to Microsoft, but I recently moved onto a more powerful computer that doesn't have Minecraft on it, and I've been trying my best to move away from the services of major corporations.

So is there an older version of Minecraft that you don't need to rely on Microsoft or Mojang for, or am I completely fucked unless I just use modern Minecraft or a similar game (like Vintage Story)?

PollyMC allows you to run a pirate instance of any version.

Hi Minecraft thread! I told you all I would come here and show off what I have built in Minecraft. Here is the small town I have built, I plan to make it bigger sooner or later.

I see you're using an older version so your block choice is limited, but try making more inlets and overhangs with buildings, put leaves around the foundation etc.

I'm still sour how project red and bluepower are so half baked compared to some of the neat shit redpower had. Shame Eloram shat the bed because minecraft was updating faster than he could be bothered to work on the mod.

I see that Aether portal, nice. Simple, blocky, nostalgic, neat, I like it. What version btw?

Don't know about this "allow/deny list" but yeah, Create-as good as it is-is a Reddit mod, like Stray was a Reddit game. People all over that website soypog when they see something cool with it, so modpack creators will shove it in even when it doesn't make sense. "You misunderstand, Create is perfect for my Medieval Fantasy modpack because you can roleplay as a tech loving Dwarf/Gnome/whatever and it isn't that advanced to completely ruin the theme!" When in reality Redditors are probably going to add Create into your modpack anyway or outright ignore it (I've seen a comment on a post saying that said poster considers Create essential and refuses to play without it).

I'd say I'm about 90% done with this project. My to do list is more just filling in the gaps on the fjords island

>Adding bridges
>Adding paths
>Some small residental buildings
>Small farm for pigs/sheep/cows
>A couple of custom made trees

Im planning on doing another version of this with Carrots to the south. But if you lot have any other ideas on what big projects I should build, I'm all ears.

I like that you even have drainage for the irrigation, that's attention to detail.

Well, since you got this big ass farm, might be worth making some villager homes for the idea of this being their job. Maybe a watchtower too.

Water from the lake (That goes to the crops) is also pulled from the river

Thats a good idea. As for the villagers, na. its meant do be more for aesthetics than for functionality.
Better to make a dedicated farm for that.
Might use pic:

As somebody who used to play on faction servers, I've realized that most mods are not made specifically with multiplayer in mind. Witchery is the exeption— it's fun on it's own, but it really shines when you have other players you can mess with. Poppets, for example, really have no purpose in singleplayer. Witchery also has a compass that can track the locations of players whose blood you've taken, and adds a door that sets off a redstone signal upon being opened which is great for making booby traps. So as far as I'm concerned, Witchery is the best magic mod of all time.

It's certainly better at harmless trolling than Thaumcraft. "You know what'll be funny? Causing a taint outbreak around my friend's base! Or better yet, cause a rift that destroys blocks!" I was always iffy on Witchery to be honest, but I will say it was a pretty cool mod back in the day.

Alright, that's fuckin' cool. Never really thought of doing that before.
Thats a good idea. As for the villagers, na. its meant do be more for aesthetics than for functionality.
I was also thinking aesthetics, might be jarring to see a completely grown wheat farm but with no one to harvest them. Then again they'll break the wheat so probably not a good idea.

I don't have a specific favorite one but I'll just pick one of my favorites, since I'm an American, I love food. And Minecraft has no shortage of food mods, but we all already know the big ones. Cooking With Blockheads, Farmer's Delight, Tranny's Harvestcraft, but I wonder how many people heard of Caupona?
View attachment 6110927

It seems to be based largely on Ancient Roman/Greek(?) foods, it's fairly easy to make food without the bloat that Farmer's Delight adds (not to mention the add-ons), much as I love that mod, how many people are making all that food? Caupona is mostly soups and stews but has some other oddities. Some nice blocks are added as well, mostly inspired by that time period I mentioned. Even does something I haven't seen before, when making stews you can add potions to them, allowing you to gain that potion(s) effect while also granting you the normal bonuses food gives you (which makes food pretty damn strong, especially when paired with Spice of Life). Food mods are more for roleplaying than functionality since you can just cook meats and call it a day (unless you have a mod that nerfs that, such as Spice of Life) but Caupona's potion mixing with food does indeed make the extra steps worth it. The Mod Author also made another cooking mod, Convivium.

I'll be frank, I have not played around with this mod at all. It seems more complex but more rewarding at a result, and seems to be the "beverage" side of Caupona.
The Aether. It has always been my favorite mod since I could go fight in dungeons and get some pretty neat loot.

In a bit of news no one expected, The late Minecraft Youtuber Technoblade has uploaded a new Minecraft video.
No, Techno didn't fake his death from cancer, his friend Tommyinnit managed to find footage Techno had record and edited it into a Technoblade style video, Techno's dad also makes a appearance as a voice over narrator, as Techno never recorded his own narration for the video.

(I'm putting this here since I don't think it fits in either the dead Minecraft YT thread or the Dream thread)
